so your looking for a wedge shaped flipper. you will need :
20 drive : i suggest 2 Argos 10 quid cordless drills
15 blue wheels: ask in the wanted section or ask grant ( ask someone for his email :))
40 speed controller : 2 x mtronics eco 27 speed controllers
35 a radio system: i recommend the planet 5 2.4 ghz system
10 MDF for the base , get it from B&Q , 2-4 foot sheet will do
so total for a moving base is about 130 quid ( no pound sign on my keyboard :P)
Welcome to the forum.
What is your budget? What do you want to achieve? What are you current machining skills? What skills or equipment do you have access to?
Answering these questions will allow me (and others) to guide you in the right direction more easily.
Have to say having just got two of the planet 5 radio systems I'm really impressed with the construction of it. Considering it's £36.99 including receiver the build quality is as good if not better than the spektrum dx5e even if it doesn't have mixing or digital trims.Quote:

i got one working in a FW last night and they re brilliant , all channels are failsafed to 90 degrees ( channel 1 adjustable) but the fail safes take 3-4 seconds to kick in . and i cna confrom it works with gws , mtronics and team thants mixers :)
Looks like it's the transmitter/reciever combo for me then.

where can i get the speed controlers?
if they are on about the little blue speedos?????
then they are always on ebay
thanks
while scowering the internet i found these:
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/MAG-BKT60.html
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/package05.html
remember american antweights weigh a lot more than uk ones, so that kit is probably to heavy for our use over here
oh:(
And the battle kit is for a lightweight so not quite light enough for a feather and nowhere near heavy enough for a heavy......................
There is a 30 lb battle kit: http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/MAG-BKT30.html
I think there WAS a 30lb battle kit. Just checked the battlekit site and they now only do lights, middles and heavies. The stock status on the link shows 'removed'.Quote:

i no the longest url of all time
:uhoh: iv seen longer
ok the speedos im trying to get are these anyone ever used them?
if you have used them please let me know
you have forgotten or not posted a link or picture so we can't see what your talking about.... :proud:
sorry here they are
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/IFI-V884.html
yeh they have a good repuation i am going to buy one for something else
however you are spend ££££££ to much if your just gonna use drill motors but could save money in the future
what do you recomend then?
maybe a scorpion xxl or a sbaertooth i would stick with a dual controller
this is when you have both sides of your robot controlled from one controller
ok didnt think of that
would these be ok?
http://www.robotstoreuk.com/MOTORS/DRIV ... LERS-4.htm
yeh you would need 2 of them but buy from here
http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/On ... s_351.html
i might have some elctronize im not using not the same as those but they could cope, but not new working though and obviously cheaper :lame:
Or if Technobots has sold out (which it currently has) you can get them direct from the manufacturer:

ok thanks
just found out having a buget cut
i was thinking of having a r/c car and puting a armor shell over it like demolisher in this vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdYl7Bi7 ... re=related
to make a fw
I think this has been discussed before (if you were to look through the forum archives): viewtopic.php?f=111&t=261
To save you reading that, if you want your featherweight to survive in any form it's a monumentally bad idea :proud: if you're having your budget cut I strongly reccommend you go down the antweight route instead.
Hehe, in that Trials video I love the fact Shunt's got the finishing flag attached to his axe - that's amazing
lol
You can still build a FW on a very small budget . As esc's go , if you arereally ona budget i could build a on of backward forward esc , there not great for fine control but they will get your robot moving and there very very cheap. (around 30 quid)
Are you thinking microswitches, servos and relays?
nope , servo inards , darlington arrays and relays :) , im loking at replacing the servo innards with a PIC miconcontroller but i need to get a programmer first :P
Much cooler than microswitches :)
This might be of interest and/or use to you: http://trebor69.tripod.com/speedcnt.html
Although there's no backwards, it does have variable speed.
I've also been looking at trying to use servo innards to drive an H-Bridge for full Forwards/Backwards variable speed. I have a few ideas but I'd really need to get some servos and an oscilloscope/data logger to figure out what will and won't work.
So that would mean that a servo simply splits the signals out into its component pwm signals then?Quote:
