Re: crazy bots series 1 (the remake)
1
Robot Name: The R.O.C (Revenge of Collateral)
Shape: Box with wedges on all sides, the front wedge has a Firestorm-style blade for zero ground clearance
Weight: 100kg
Length: 90cm
Width: 95cm
Height: 15cm
Motivation: 4 x internal vulcanised wheels, mounted like those of Tazbot for extra manouevrability
Drive: 2 x PERM 080s @ 24v
Batteries: 2 x NiCad battlepacks
Armour: 6-8mm grade 2 titanium for the most part, with 4mm hardox in key areas and 10mm HDPE on the base, with 4mm grade 2 titanium additional protection in key areas
Weaponry: This robot has an interesting weapon synergy onvolving;
1) A rear hinged lifting arm, hinged at the centre of the robot's length and width. It is powered by an S28-400 at 24v for quick lifting, and it can raise to 2 levels- 75 degrees when lifting and 270 degrees when it needs to self-right/reset the flipper. The arm raises in about half a second
2) An upside down U-shaped front hinged flipper. The lifting arm is hinged in between the hinges of this weapon. It is powered by a 2 x 1.1kg co2 bottles and 2 x 85mm non-attached rams at 750psi, meaning it gets about 10 flips. Normally the rams wouldn't work when non-attached because of the way it is hinged, but the lifter will already be raised when the flipper is raised and so can quickly move back the rest of the way to reset the flipper
The way the weapon synergy works is this- the lifter lifts the opponent to 75 degrees, then uses the flipper to throw them about 7 feet up and across because of the placing of flipper and lifter. Then the lifter resets the flipper.
Speed: 15mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at the front, 7mm at sides and rear
Srimech: The flipper can right the robot, but the lifter will be used to conserve gas.
2
Robot Name: The Subjugator
Shape: Box with skirts all the way around
Weight: 150kg/200kg (see armour)
Length: 90cm
Width: 90cm
Height: 35cm
Motivation/Drive: 4 x hardox legs with vulkalon rubber feet, they are each actuated by two 10 bar 32mm pneumatic rams from a 5kg tank, they are not visible as they are internal
Armour: 4mm hardox (8mm with 200kg rule)
Weaponry: An 80cm long hardox arm on a 360 degree turret spun by a Bosch 750 watt motor at 36v. On the end of the arm is a large vertical claw, it has two prongs on the top and one on the bottom that goes between the top two when the claw closes (like Mr. Psycho). The prongs are all tungsten tipped and the claw is drilled with several speed holes, the claw is actuated by hydraulics at 3000psi from a vivoil pump powered by a LEM-130 lynch motor at 36v, they can be cranked up to 5000psi if the tournament allows it and can crunch through 4mm hardox when at 3000psi, look out if it€™s at 5000! The arm can move over 180 degrees via a LEM-130 at 36v to flip opponents and slam them onto the ground
Speed: 12mph, pretty fast for a walker
Turning Circle: In the centre of the robot€™s base armour there is a 20cm x 20cm circular section that extends to below the robot via another 10 bar ram, but this one is 400mm and takes the gas from its own 1.1kg bottle, once on the ground the circular piece of armour rotates in the direction which I want the robot to go via a Briggs & Stratton E-Tek at 48v.
Ground Clearance: 20mm all round, protected by 7mm titanium torsion sprung skirts, held together at the corners by 5mm hardox hinges
Srimech: The arm can right it in any direction
Colour: Black, with red and gold claw and the name written in white
Strengths: Heavy, unpushable, good weapon
Weaknesses: Comparatively slow turning
Notes: This is what happened the day I thought €œWalkers used linear actuators... What about fast pneumatic rams?€ With a lot of help from Leo Van Miert The Subjugator finally came into being, originally using a Whyachi-style tri-bar before that was replaced by the vertical claw when Leo brought to my attention how unstable it would be with the spinner weapon.
3
Robot Name: Helix
Shape: Tornado (including the angled rear) with angled sides, skirts and a front wedge
Weight: 100kg
Length: 80cm
Width: 80cm
Height: 9cm
Motivation: 4 x vulcanised wheels
Drive: 2 x S28-400s at 24v, 9HP, powered by 2 x NiCad battlepacks
Armour: 3.25mm hardox top, sides, front and rear, 5mm titanium skirts and 5mm aluminium base
Weaponry:
1)The front wedge is made of 3.25mm hardox and has a wedge extender for zero ground clearance at the front
2)A front 65cm long hardox axe, the head is shaped like Excalibur€™s from RW3 and it€™s on a rack and pinion system ala Terrorhurtz. It is powered by a 140mm stroke, 80mm bore cylinder at 1000psi from 1 x 2kg nitrogen bottles, the point is tungsten tipped and the underside serrated to really dig into opponents, it is on a rack and pinion system and there is enough gas to provide about 15 hits per fight which should be more than enough considering the power in each hit, there is about 2 tonnes of force in each hit when at full pressure and is enough to destroy aluminium, punch holes in titanium and even dent hardox
3)There are two tungsten tipped hardox spikes on either end of the angled rear
4)The front wedge lifts up via a linear actuator, this is used to flip opponents and attack their base armour with the axe or to lift and then ram or clamp when using this in unison with the axe. It has two spikes that run flush to the floor to help get under other robots
5) Not exactly a weapon, but it has a vacuum device to suck the robot to the floor. This is used to counter-act the effects of the axe and help it fight rammers and flippers. It can be turned on and off throughout the match, but unless I say so assume it will be turned on.
Top Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: Effectively 0 all round due to wedge at front and skirts at sides and rear, but 20mm behind them, they are all joined together with tungsten hinges to make them extremely hard to break
Turning Circle: 0
Srimech: The axe is long enough to right it over the wedge
Colour: Black with some green and red
Strengths: Powerful axe and decent pushing power
Weaknesses: High GC behind the skirts
Notes: Plenty of shock-proofing
4
Robot Name: Brutalis 2.1
Shape: Dantomkia, but with the front spikes hinged
Weight: 100kg
Length: 65cm
Width: 70cm
Height: 15cm
Motivation: 2 x HDPE internal wheels, 125mm in diameter and sloped like Tazbot for more manouevrability. They are in the front of the robot so the front turns rather than the back
Drive: 2 x LEM-130 lynch motors run @ 48v from 6 x 3600mAh NiCad battlepacks
Armour: 3.75mm hardox monocoque
Weaponry: The main weapon is the front hinged flipper, powered by a 120mm x 100mm bore stroke ram @ 145psi from a 1.5kg co2 bottle, giving 15-20 flips per round due to the low pressure. It is capable of pushing robots OOTA of it gets the chance, but is better at turning robots over and than throwing them. Also there is a strip of Mute-style barbs running up the flipper to get robots stuck on it. And finally on either front spike there is a tungsten spike pointing sideways, so when the robot spins it can act as a thwackbot.
Speed: 17mph average
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front and effectively the same at sides and rear due to 7mm skirts torsion-sprung and made of grade 2 titanium, but behind the skirts is 6mm at the sides and 15mm at the rear.
Srimech: The flipper can right the robot quickly, easily and repeatedly if need be
Colour: Black bodywork, with red skirts and a gold flipper.
Strengths: Very durable, well-armoured, good pushing power
Weaknesses: Flipper isn€™t very powerful, no real damaging weaponry
Notes: This new version of Brutalis ditches the full pressure flipper and heaps of gas from the old one for thicker armour and slightly more powerful drive. The strategy is to push and bully robots around the arena with the pushing power and the flipper, rolling and tossing them around and into the pit or even out of the arena. If it can€™t manage either of those then it will be aiming for dominance in order to swing a judge€™s decision, and due to the tough armour it won€™t be too down in the damage department despite lacking any real damaging weaponry.

Re: crazy bots series 1 (the remake)
ok then add these 4 to my team...
Robot Name: Apocalypse II
Weight: Roughly 100kg
Shape: Box wedge with sloped sides, ala Storm II. The front wedge is angled at 30* to get under opponents, and the sides are sloped at 42* to deflect spinners. The rear is rounded for easier self-righting.
Length: 80cm
Width: 60cm
Height: 15cm
Motivation: 2 x internal HDPE wheels, each are 125mm in diameter and they have vulcanised tyres for extra grip, plus they are mounted like Tazbot€™s for more manouevrability. They are in the front of the robot like Merlin so the front turns rather than the back.
Drive: 2 x S28-400 magmotors run @ 24v from 2 x 3600mAh NiCad battlepacks; this should provide about 9 horsepower.
Armour: 3.2mm hardox monocoque for the most part, strengthened in certain key areas with extra 5mm titanium/vanadium alloy sheeting.
Weaponry: The robot is a decent pusher, but on top there are three sets of Mute-style barbs, one on each side and one running down the flipper arm. These are tungsten tipped to allow it to trap robots on top, and once their stuck on top they can€™t get free.
The second weapon is what I use to get rid of the robot stuck on the barbs. It is a Bio-Hazard style 4-bar flipping arm, but unlike Bio-Hazard it is run off full pressure pneumatics, meaning it will easily throw robots out of the arena. It is 30cm wide and runs down the centre of the robot, made of 4mm hardox and powered by a 120mm x 100mm bore stroke ram @ 750psi from a 1.5kg gas bottle, giving it about 10 flips per round, which should be enough. On the front of the flipper arm there is a strip of 8mm grade 2 titanium, which should aid in getting under the other robots
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0 at front, 8mm at sides and rear, but this is protected by 5mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts made of grade 2 titanium.
Turning Circle: Using the skid steer system ala Razer gives Apocalypse II a 0 turning circle
Srimech: The 4-bar flipper can right it in less than a second, but to conserve gas there is an electric srimech hinged at the rear of the robot. This is the two strips of barbs on either side of the machine lifting up to vertical via a Bosch 750w motor run @ 28.8v from a NiCad battlepack. This rights the robot in 1 second, and can also be used offensively to tip opponents stuck on the barbs into the pit
Colour: This new Apocalypse keeps the colour scheme of the old one, with dark blue bodywork and a red weapon.
Notes: This new Apocalypse trades the powerful drive motors of the old one for more armour, as well as bringing in a new 4-bar system and a new srimech idea, albeit with less gas for the flipper. This shouldn€™t effect it too much though as the lifter can still be used to dump opponents in the pit or stack them against a wall. The previous robot enjoyed some success, and hopefully this new, more original version will build on that.
Last time the emphasis was more on the flipper, but this time around the focus is more on the barbs, which were under-used last time and so this time around the design is focused around the barbs instead of around the flipper.

Robot Name: Final Resting Place
Shape: Cylinder
Weight: 100kg
Length: 85cm
Width: 85cm
Height: 15cm
Motivation: 8 x Big Nipper style small wheels, 4 on top and 4 on the bottom, they are made of HDPE and have vulcanised tyres
Drive: 4 x S28-150s @ 24v, 6HP
Batteries: 4 x NiCad Battlepacks
Armour: 1mm titanium for the side (though that is untouchable) and 5mm hardox on top and base
Weaponry: A spinning spike ring similar to that of Del-Dog's (RW UK vs. Germany special), it runs the full circumference of the robot and spins up to 3000rpm in 3 seconds courtesy of a LEM-130 @ 48v. It weighs 25kg and can reach 1500rpm in 1.5 seconds, from where it can produce 72.5Kj, so at 3000rpm it can deliver 145Kj. To protect from its own and other hits it has internal shockproofing, the ring itself is made of 10mm titanium. The blades are curved spikes made of tungsten and weighing 2.5kg each, they are part of the ring so cannot be ripped off. This weapon is capable of serious damage
Speed: 20mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 8mm
Srimech: Invertible
Colour: Red, with name in green on top and base and a gold ring with sapphire blades
--
Robot Name: Volde
Shape: Box with wedges on all sides
Weight: 100kg
Length: 90cm
Width: 90cm
Height: 25cm
Motivation: 2 x internal 80mm diameter wheels with vulcanised tyres
Drive: 2 x S28-400 magmotors @ 24v powered by 2 x NiCad battlepacks @ 24v
Armour: 3.2mm hardox, the base armour is 4mm aluminium
Weaponry: All three weapons work in unison to clamp opponents:
1) Overhead axe, powered by an S28-400 @ 24v, it is 90cm long and made of titanium
2) Splinter-style side arms, each powered by an S28-400 @ 24v Each is identical to the axe. There are hinged, and so when the lifting plate lifts and the axe goes up they do too
3) A Complete Control style lifting plate, powered by an S28-400 @ 24v, it is made of titanium and runs flat to the ground to get under skirts and 0 ground clearance
None of the weapons are designed to damage the opponent, just hold them in place
Speed: 15mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front, 7mm elsewhere
Srimech: The axe can right the robot quickly and easily
Colour: Dark blue bodywork with red and gold weapons, the name written in green on the sides and in purple on the rear
--
Robot Name: LockJaw v3
Shape: Imagine an axlebot with Triangles at either side where the wheels would normally be, then on the right of the left triangle and on the left of the right triangle imagine a vertical claw. Then add a scoop in between the claws and put a third claw in the middle of the scoop, built into the scoop so it is invisible until it opens wider or closes.
Weight: 100kg
Length: 55cm
Width: 90cm
Height: 20cm (with claws shut) / 55cm (with claws fully open)
Motivation: The triangles at either end of the robot are wheel pods, as in each one is a 6mm hardox wheel with a vulcanised tyre. The wheels are both 220mm in diameter and mostly protected, but exposed from the three sides of the triangle. This allows it to run anyway up, but without having to put the drive in reverse.
Drive: 2 x S28-400 magmotors run @ 24v from 2 x 3600mAh NiCad battlepacks
Armour: As it€™s an axlebot there isn€™t much armour, but the wheel pods are made of 6mm hardox, and the 1cm scoop is made of grade 2 titanium.
Weaponry: The two outer claws are fast, but not powerful. They are each powered by an over-volted Litton motor @ 36v for fast grabbing. They merely hold the opponent in place while the middle claw comes into play, powered by hydraulics from a vivoil pump actuated by an S28-400 magmotor @ 24v running at 3000psi (5000psi if the tournament permits it). This claw can crunch through thin hardox and itself is made of tungsten carbide with serrated edges like the other two. The claws can open wider if the opponent is too high for them to grab. When they do this they dig their bottom prong into the ground ala Big Nipper, meaning they can get under 0 ground clearance, but nothing will get under them. This will not only be used against tall robots, but flippers or other wedges.
Speed: 15mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front, less than zero if the claws open fully. It€™s an axlebot though so doesn€™t really have much of a ground clearance.
Srimech: The robots runs exactly the same when flipped upside down, I don€™t even have to put the drive in reverse due to the triangular wheel pods giving it three drive positions.
Colour: Unpainted
Notes: The original LockJaw was Stinger with a claw between the wheels, and failed miserably in its only fight. LockJaw Epidemic introduced two separate claws, but they were electric and not powerful enough. Version 3 provides the best of both worlds.

You never called Jack Orr out for using Iron Awe 5. :P But whatever.
Give me...S.M.I.D.S.Y (series 7) and Diotoir (Extreme 2) instead of Ripper Evo and Thor, then.

Re: crazy bots series 1 (the remake)
tactix.....
right, il rev O.I.Ds disk up to full and wait for the right moment, anachy looks like the best bet to attack, the polycarb should be no problem, aim for the side and rip out the polycarb/legs, thats him disabled, then see what happens after that, mechvore should be no problem, just hit it a couple of times and it should die, biohazard looks nice too, the titainium will give off some nice sparks :) hit it a couple of times and the side pannles will fail, then just keep hitting it and it should cease to be a threat any longer :)
if for any reason i see a chance to pit someone, take it :) but keep well away from it otherwise :)

Re: crazy bots series 1 (the remake)
Minesweep3r: Now here's the thing: Only yesterday I competed against Jim Smentowski(The guy who made Nightmare) in an antweight competition and beat him. I have great respect for him, so I'll team up with Nightmare(Titanium disc, 2 teeth, powered by an E-Tek at 48v) and let him destroy Merlin. Flip him onot his wheels if he gets flipped over, and attack Apocalypse II if need be.

Mash OID with the axe, try and flip it over. Because he's attacking me, what other choice do I have? :P

Re: crazy bots series 1 (the remake)
Yes, it's a real robot. Surprisingly, it's nothing more then a Battlebots toy with all HDPE armour. It weighs 15.4 oz, and defeated Shazbot in a grudge match at Gulf Coast Robot Sports 3. And let's not forget that Shazbot won its first 3 tournaments...
