w.a.r, micro tornie of death one

hey hey :D

w.a.r is going a bit slow and i want something i can easily write to fill in the gaps between the w.a.r fights :)

so the rules are:

i need 6 people to enter one antweight each

150gs for rollers and 240gs for walkers/shufflers

all robots must fit in a four inch cube

clusters are not allowed to have more than 3 parts, and must together fit in the 4 inch cube and fit in the weight limit.

really's are allowed but innovation is encouraged

no liquid based weapons, entanglement weapons, flame weapons or untethered projectiles

there is no weight bonus for infer-read or other autonomous systems

the arena is the robot wars antweight arena

the round format is basically a mini annihilator with 2 robots going out in each round until there are 2 robots left, they will then fight it out to decide who will be the champion!

Shape: Low profile box with a front wedge and rounded sides and rear.
Colour: The main body is see-thru with a silver front wedge.
Length: 100mm

Motivation: There are four wheels. They are made of HDPE and are 30mm in diameter. Each wheel has a Dycem tyre bonded to it for extra grip on the arena floor.
Drive: 4x HS-55 Servos run at 6v from a NiMH battery pack.
Turning Circle: 0m using a tank style steer.
Speed: 45cm/s
Ground Clearance: 0mm on the front wedge, 2.5mm at the back and sides.
Armour: 1.5mm thick Polycarbonate monocoque with 1mm Titanium on the front wedge.
Weapon: The main form of attack comes from ramming opposing robots around the arena using the wedge shape.

Drive: 2 x C2028 1400kv 90Watt Brushless motors @ 11.1v. The motors have urethane bonded to the magnet can to turn them into 30mm wheel motors.
Batteries: 300mah 11.1v Lithium Polymer battery
Speed: 100mm/s
Ground Clearance: 2mm
Armour: 2mm Titanium rim, 1mm carbon fibre base with a 1mm polycarbonate top.
Weapon: uMBX is a translational spinner, the whole robot spins at 5000rpm while pulsing the drive motors to make the robot translate/drift around the arena. 150g @ 5000rpm should pack a monster hit to any antweight. uMBX has 2x Titanium teeth welded to the rim to impact opponents with.
Notes: Invertible.

It's pretty damn close to the weight limit, but I've not the time at the moment to CAD it all out and do all the weight calculations properly. If there is anything obvious, let me know.

uMBX vs MicroForce 3.0 vs Bobcat vs Flamberge vs SPARK vs Katjuscha

Um... I will probably die in the first round, but anyways:

There are 3 targets I'm truly afraid of: Flamberge, uMBX, and Katjuscha. In the first round, I'd like to team up with Aaron and AJ(seeing as how they have to most experience with doing this).

My first target will be Bobcat. Seeing as how both Razzler and Lowa both failed to win their Antweight melees, I feel that Bobcat should do no better here. I will try to use the wedge to tip it onto its left side, where its arm can't self-right it. Then ask Aaron to move in uMBX and destroy the immobilized antweight.

Target no. 2 will be Leo and Katjuscha. A good suggestion of teamwork would be to have Aaron get around to the vulnerable back, while I come in from the side. Once Leo is flipped, it's over.

Anyways, I think Flamberge will survive(simply because Jack will let it), and those are my tactics.

Jack: so without further ado lets pass over to harry at the mini arena!

Harry: thanks jack! And welcome fans to the new arena! It€™s like our old arena except a lot smaller! So€¦ here are the robots!

Bobcat! *a crusher that€™s itching to put the squeeze on the other competitors!*

Spark! *an ant weight version of lightning, will this robot spark and flash out, or will it use its speed to bulldoze its way to victory?!*

Flamberge! *this scary looking thing is entered by kody from little ol€™ Canada! Armed with a deadly spinning blade will this robot destroy all the other competitors?*

Umbx! *an ant version of mbx, this is a translational spinner with 2 BRUSHLESS motors for drive!*

Microforce 3.0! *a 4wd rammer with a wedge and 1.5 polycarb/ 1mm ti for armour!*

Katjuscha! *a widely known ant with a reputation for destruction! A deadly spinning blade makes this one hard to beat!*

Tom: thanks jack€¦now! Onto the fight!!!

Tom: let micro carnage begin! And€¦oh dear they€™re zooming off already! As umbx begins its twirl of doom micro-force zips around manically and Katjuscha spins up€¦whoa! That€™s loud! And now the other spinners join in€¦what an orchestra! Mozart eat your heart out! Spark franticly darts away from bobcat but€¦too late as he gets gobbled up by the crusher! But I don€™t see any major damage! Umbx is twirling and spinning around the arena but not hitting anything so far€¦and€¦no, it almost hit katjuscha! Phew, that was close!

Spark has been released by bobcat but is hovering dangerously near flamberge, and OH OUCH! The disk rips into spark and€¦a huge gouge has appeared in the side armour, will spark be able to move? He appears to be hobbling along€¦so he€™s okay for€¦oh wait! Flamberge comes in again€¦ouch! And that appears to have knocked out spark! Ow! Poor old spark ganged up on€¦.and destroyed! Now one is down! One more to go! Umbx has nudged the pit release button and it descends down €¦will an ant go down?

Micro-force is trying to get round the back of katjuscha (who has been keeping out of harms way for most of this fight) but€¦oh! He hits the disk! And one side has been ripped off! With a large amount of fraying to the front! But he€™s still moving! Oh! And where did that come from?! Sparks corpse has been thrust across the arena by the flipper! And has landed€¦hahaha! In the pit! Umbx is thwacking away at micro-force but in comes flamberge€¦oooh the sound is deafening! Ouch! Umbx has been tossed away€¦into katjuscha! And€¦oh! He collides with the disk and€¦HE GETS CHUCKED OUT OF THE ARENA!!! Oooh! So unlucky! He was on the attack and€¦boom! Out the arena€¦wow I€™m gobsmacked€¦so€¦back to you jack€¦wow€¦

Jack: whoa, my mouth is still hanging open, the ant weights are so much fun! So€¦.spark and umbx go out€¦and micro-force, katjuscha, bobcat and flamberge go through! We came, we saw, we had fun on micro w.a.r, goodnight!

ACTIVATE!!!

And away they go! Patched up from the last round but raring to be fighting again! Bobcat races away, skidding accross the arena towards its opponents, its crushing claw glinting in the bright hallogen lights that are mounted around the arena. Katjuscha revv€™s up his disk to maximim speed and charges into the middle of the arena, Leo glances around at his fellow roboteers as though daring them to attack. Meanwhile, a patched up micro-force it taking on flamberge, M-F is getting thrust away by that awsome disk but, although he looks a little punch-drunk, he keeps on ramming kodys machine all around the arena.

Bobcat is sizing up katjuscha, who is giro-ing around in the middle of the arena, that disk is truly awsome! €œik groet u leo!€ joey carfully manouvers his bot around the dutch machine, looking for a chink in the armor of the beast that was once AWS champion! and Joey seems to have found somthing as he dives in quickly, using the claw to clamp katjuscha from the rear! A sneaky, well timed move there from joey! No doubt that will win him points on the style and/or aggression front :) . Meanwhile M-F has hit the pit release button!

WOOOOOOOOOOOO

And down it goes! Will a unsuspecting ant go down? Kody obviously dosent want to be that ant as he scoots away from the pit at full blast! M-F gives chase but flamberge is slightly quicker, and kody swings his robot round, leaving a unsuspecting M-F to go full pelt into the disk! OUCH! He gets tossed around the arena! But eventualy is stopped when he slams into the arena side wall! AJ wiggles his sticks but a look of dismay crosses his face when he realises he has lost one wheel. Kody smiles and brings in flamberge to deliver the last rites!

RRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPP!

OOH! Nice sparks flying there as the disk rips into the titanium on M-F! AJ is looking dissapointed but trys to manouver himself away from the spinning disk of death! 3 wheels on his wagon, but he€™s still limping along! M-F somehow ascapes but how long will he be able to hold the nasty spinner off?! Unfortunetly for M-F he has just limped into bobcat and katjuscha€™s fight! Where bobcat still has katjuscha in a headlock! Joey turns bobcat but it turns very slowly as the gyro coming off katjuscha€™s disk is trying to go the other way! But bobcat is now using katjuscha as a weapon!!! And is leading him towards flamberge...

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPP!

OOOOH! And katjuscha€™s blade has ripped off one of flamberge€™s wheels!...oh! OH MY...!

PING!

And flamberges disk hits the ground! Sending the robot flying into the air! And it lands with a crash! He spins across the arena but his frantic escape finaly comes to an end when he slides into the pit! Oh dear! Bad luck kody! But in the mist of that frantic moment, katjuscha has broken free from bobcats grasp! And bobcats claw, is bent and buckled! Im suprised it hasnt fallen off lol!
M-F has been limping away for a while now, but hes trying to get back in the thick of things, AJ desperatly working the controlls but M-F is proving to be a bit of an arse to steer, eventualy he reaches bobcat, joey gingerly moves the claw down to try and crush M-F but sighs when his claw finaly gives up the ghost and falls off.
Joey scoots his robot away, and just in time, as katjuscha comes screeching in! Looking for an enemy! He see€™s the wounded M-F, trying to limp to safety, katjuscha comes in, disk whirring, and he finaly sinks his disk into M-F...

CRRAASSHHH! RRIIIPPPP!

And micro-force goes flying across the arena in a shower of titanium sparks! Bits of polycarb and titanium litter the arena! But leo isn€™t satasfied, he comes in again...

RIIIIIIIIIPPP!

BANG!

Whoa! M-f AND katjuscha go flying across the arena! But katjuscha gets up first and comes in AGAIN with the desk! M-F is being SHREDDED! Katjuscha spins away, Leo looks at the lifeless corpse of AJ€™s machine, and a grin crosses leo€™s face as bobcat comes in and pushes micro-force into the pit!

CEASE!

Jack: And there we go! 2 more robots out! Commiserations to kody, AJ, at least you can down a bottle of scotch and write random drunken ramblings on ZED :) congratulations to our winners! Joey with bobcat and leo with katjuscha! They go on to the next round!

Firstly w00t! and well done to Jack on what was rather an epic fight, written at a pace I would be proud of...

If I'm fighting Leo - which I think I am - I'll grab onto it by any means available that isn't actively spinning and shove it out at the first possible opportunity as a matter of the utmost urgency, taking myself with it if I must.

Very good battle, I enjoyed reading that.

Tactics, spin up, keep weapon pointed towards the enemy at all time and smash into it. Katjuscha is fully spun up in less then a second so that should be no problem.

And away they go! Bobcat races across the arena, trying to get away from the big spinney thing that is katjuscha. But katjuscha is in no rush, he€™s hanging back, biding his time, a grin flitters across Leo€™s face as he revs up the disk, and, as the drone of the brushless fills the arena Joey is now hoping that that€™s just Sheppard€™s pie in his trousers! Bobcat can almost sense that the huge disk of katjuscha is right behind him...wait, he€™s not just sensing it, he can SEE it as the Dutch robot comes up behind Joey€™s machine disk whirring, Joey trys to scoot away but Leo is too fast for him and the huge disks come smashing into the rear end of bobcat!


SMASH!

OUCH! Bobcat gets flipped head over heels, that must have hurt! But no, bobcat is back on its wheels and scooting away, katjuscha also got thrust backwards, Leo looks confused as his robot hits the polycarbonate, Newton€™s law my friend, Newton€™s law...anyway they€™re both back on their wheels now, each wanting a crack at the other, bobcat, who has been on the defensive for most of the bout has seen his chance and as quick as anything he zaps into the middle of the ring and grabs the Dutch robot from behind, Leo struggles but no matter how many times he tries to drive away, or rev the disk, Joey is not letting go of his iron grip, the seconds pass but Joey is not letting go, nor can he drag katjuscha anywhere because of katjuscha€™s good grip, in the end a bell sounds to tell Joey that 30 seconds are up and that it€™s a deadly embrace, Joey is therefore forced to let go and race around the arena again, followed by a fuming katjuscha, who is revving up the disk again...


SMASH!


Oh! And bobcat gets a good kicking there! Sent flying over the pit, but lands on his wheels, can he get away...YES but he appears to be hobbling, but still moving, meanwhile katjuscha has been flung backwards as well, straight into the polycarb! Wham! Bam! Thank you man! But he€™s ok; bobcat limps over to katjuscha and grabs him from behind...


SMASH!

Smash! Ooh! Bobcat tries to grab katjuscha but his claw ends up hitting the disk...and flying off! That old battle wound although glued up has failed after a run in with the gyroscopic disk of katjuscha. The top part of the claw sent flying away, into the pit...but katjuscha took some damage too, the left wheel looks far from healthy! But both robots trundle on, the fight is almost over, just one minute remaining, will katjuscha get the k.o? Will bobcat pit the reallie? Who knows? We€™ll just have to keep watching as bobcat comes in on the attack again...will there be another explosive event? It appears not as he gets a good shot it from behind and clamps Leo€™s machine, katjuschas wheels appear to be off the ground though because bobcat seems to be able to drag him around, and indeed that seems the case as they move over to the floor flipper....

FAA-LIP!

Oh! Both robots tossed through the air...and is that, is that a wheel? YES it is one of katjuschas wheels, I did say it looked unhealthy and there it is now, lying on the arena side, Leo looks very concerned, well he would wouldn€™t he?! How much will that effect katjuschas driving ability, quite a bit if what we have seen in previous fights is true. Suddenly Leo smiles, this can only end badly! What is that evil genius thinking?


Suddenly Leo revs up the disk, and moves his remaining wheel forward....wait second, he€™s...he€™s going forward! I don€™t believe it! Leo is using the gyro produced by the disk to move across the arena, that will gain him style marks if it goes to the judges, but the loss of a wheel will cost them, as the seconds tick down, bobcat it trying to get a good shot it, but he can€™t quite get there... katjuscha is too quick, joey needs to pit katjuscha quickly, will he do it?

Cease!

Tom: No he will not, well, that€™s the end of that fight everybody! Both robots still mobile so we will have to go to the judges...they will be looking for style, control, damage and aggression. While they make up their minds lets gather all of our competitors onto the stage...

*Joey, Leo, Mark, Kody, AJ and Aaron gather around the arena*

Jack: while we are waiting for the decision, can we get a round of applause for all of our competitors for a cracking event?

*audience claps*

Jack: oh, and as a special treat teacakes for all!

Jack: alrighty, a decision has been reached, the judges have said it wasn€™t easy to pick a winner...both competitors did really well, but, there can only be one winner......and the winner, of W.A.R, Micro tornie of death 1 is.....
