hi,
im just wondering what happens here, do the roboteers have to go to the event knowing who they are going to be paired up with? or does everyone turn up and it gets done from there?
im really wana go to this event, i remember watching tag team on robotwars and it always looked like good fun.
another thing i was wondering from other roboteers experience, do most teams prefere to be paired up with another roboteers robot or with another robot of theirs?
I have to admit I'd like to know as well, had a teamup with Andy of OverDrive fame in mind if I get Stiltskin finished for whenever it may be :)
The last time the tag team championships were run, there were two options;
Pair up your robot with another robot from your team or a robot from another team (assuming the other team was willing to pair up - usually pre-agreed either on the forum or through MSN)
Show up on the day without a tag partner and be drawn with another robot there that didn't have a tag partner.
As for knowing who you'd be fighting, last time it was drawn on the day once all the teams were sorted out, but if all teams are paired up before the event, the draw could take place and be posted on the forum prior to the event. It all comes down to what way Robo Challenge want to organise it.
Having viewed their website lately though, I saw that this year's tag champs will be running alongside the Power Tool Drag Racing, so it should be an awesome weekend all round. Gonna be working some extra shifts though for petrol - its a six and a half hour drive for us :|
It was really good fun last time (first outing for Drumroll - its improved a little since then :) ) so it'll be good to have another tag mash-up
P.S. Joey, its the 12th/13th September - would be good if you have some form of Stiltskin running alongside Overdrive :)
I reckon I can manage that if college doesn't prove too hectic :) I'll definitely have some form of robot running, looks like I have a deadline to get it done by now.
Where is it btw? I'm assuming somewhere in Birmingham but it has moved around a bit at times?
I thought it'd be somewhere in the Birmingham area, but looking at the Power Tool Drag Racing thread, Grant mentions its being held in Somerset this year so now that the tag champs are running alongside it I'm guessing its in Somerset :)

well if you want to go with da bomb (who uses the 4mm mild steel shell you sold on ebay :proud: ) then id be happy to go with crumple zone or BLOCK OF WOOD! woo a very cool robot judging by the pictures!

It's likely that we will be going to this one so we will need tag team partners for Aftershock and Whirlpool, any offers??

i have a well armoured 6wd elec lifter fw that a spinner wont do alot to, i dont think :proud: , but would like to have a spinner as a tag partner :lol:
hey u got any pics of your 6 wheel drive robot with the electric lifter?
got some in build, will post pics of the finished robot soon, got some ti to get cut and then its pretty much finished, drives nice and goes like stink!

I don't think this championship is fair cos if you only have rubbish robots no one wants to be your partner. Lol.
The solution to that one is simple.....build a better robot! :lol:
It does seem a bit like harking back to the school days of getting picked for sports or dancing. You're no good at football so you get picked last, or nobody wants to be your partner for dancing :lol:

Tortoise will return one day soon. I want to give it a run without it meeting a spinner, so I'll try rebuild it when I next go to an RR event or something. Seen as Goon managed to survive 4 fights at the last event, I'm sure JFT would be fine in there. Trying to get my heavyweight going first though.
