Robot Wars: The Legends Return
Its been a while since I've done something creative, so heres what I'm going to do. This is gonna be a very short event if I can help it, but you never know. The FRFFT World Championships is on hold at the moment, and I'm very sorry to those who entered. Hopefully it will continue after this
I need eight people to enter two real robots from Robot Wars only. They can be from the UK or Extreme Warriors, I don't care, as long as I know enough about them :)
This how it'll be going down
Four heats of two one on ones, then the heat final
The grand final is the same way, except the playoff is added
I might do some side events as well, including featherweights, international competitions and all that stuff
Good luck guys, you'll need it in this because the house robots are there as well. The arena is the current one from Series 7

Thanks, Mr Van Miert. Did Hannibal compete in Robot Wars under a different name? I was only taking robots that competed in the main show, not robots that went out in the qualifiers, but it doesn't matter. It might have competed in the Dutch or international versions, I don't know. Can you help me out, please?

In that picture, Hannibal has British stickers on it. I went on the Hassocks Hog website many years ago and found out Hannibal was in their series 7 qualifier. Did the Hard team buy it and take it to Belgium with them? Where did Hannibal come from, I'm just wondering.

Hannibal has nothing to do with Hard (which team is called team Compactory by the way).
Hannibal was the property of Stuart Mills before I bought it of off them, after series 7. He and his son competed in Series 5 and 6, but that might have been with a different robot I am not sure. If that is not okay I can exchange for Obsidian, which was in the wars for sure.

Well, I suppose the obvious question should be why not that other robot? if it had actually been in the wars....unfortunately, I can't think as to what that robot would be.

If you refer to Obsidian, Hannibal was by far the better robot. Obsidian just got lucky in the draw during qualfiers I guess.

No, I meant the other robot that the guy who previously had Hannibal had at Series 5 and 6...which I still can't figure out who it was.
The point of the matter is that Hannibal is not a Robot Wars competitor...Obsidian and the unknown robot were. :)

Chris, Leo, it doesn't matter. Hannibal did not qualify for series 7, but since it went to Robot Wars anyway, I'll allow it. I spent almost all night finding out what its series 5 and 6 versions were, but I couldn't. I'm wondering, so any help?

I have no idea which robot they used before.
Hannibal was a FP flipper, 100mm bore x 180mm stroke (4 tonnes on 50 bar). The drive was 2 Litton motors on 36V from 3 12V Hawker SBS15 batteries controlled by 2 4QD Pro120 speed controllers. Armour was TI on top and Aluminium 7075 on the sides. The baseplate was 6082 Aluminium.

Tactics and predictions are welcome. However, I will be spending time on this and the FRFFT world championships. I know Lewis hasn't arrived yet, but I don't want the FRFFT to sink to the bottom of the page. I'll make this as enjoyable as possible, but don't expect loads straight away

Uh...101 will push Bunny Attack and avoid the hammer (which didn't do anything anyway, heh) and get it down the pit at the earliest opportunity.

Maybe, if I tap the right place, I might knock 101 out.
As for the other fight, it'll be whoever flips the other one over first...and I think Diotoir is more likely to do so.

BATTLE ONE
From Kettering, in Norhamptonshire, 101!
This robot cost £1 and 1p to build, hence the name. The weapon is a spike powered by a sensor device and the tracks come from a washing machine. They are exposed, though.
From Massachusetts, in the USA, Bunny Attack!
Armed with a 8kg sledgehammer, Bunny Attack isn't as nice as you'd want it to be. They came second in an annihilator in the US Robot Wars, so no limit of experience, but the wheels are exposed and how effective is it?
Roboteers, stand by!
B1: 101
B2: Bunny Attack
House Robots: Sir Killalot and Dead Metal
3-2-1: Activate!
Bunny Attack looks very strange, but it approaches 101 from the side, perhaps trying to avoid that spike. 101 turns and pushes into the front of it. The sledgehammer on Bunny Attack seems to be hanging limply and it isn't coming down with much force. 101 pushes it into Sir Killalot! Bunny Attack is no match for the crushing claws of Sir Killalot as he picks it up! The front looks very crumpled on Bunny Attack. 101 looks on. Killalot drops the bunny onto the flame pit! Bunny Attack gets away, but I think its on fire! It crashes into 101 again and pushes it towards the wall. 101 escapes and thinks the side of Bunny Attack is more exposed. Bunny Attack turns to face it and hits it with the sledgehammer. Its not doing too much damage and 101 isn't backing off its pursuit as it shoves it into the pit release button! Bunny Attack pushes 101 away and towards the pit! 101 breaks free from it and heads towards the centre of the arena. Bunny Attack gives chase and crashes into the side of 101 again. I don't see how they can get on top of each other here. They seem to have the same game plan, which is to push each other around. The judges look on. Bunny Attack hits 101 again, but it isn't doing any real damage. Oh! 101 pushes Bunny Attack into Dead Metal this time. Bunny Attack escapes before Dead Metal can do anything. The last ten seconds count down. 101 pushes Bunny Attack towards the angle grinder. The fur looks tattered, but Bunny Attack gets in one last hit with the sledgehammer. 101 pushes it away again. On top at the end, I think.
Cease!
A close fight. Two evenly matched robots. The judges will decide on style, control, damage and aggression.
101: Style: 2 Control: 2 Damage: 2 Aggression: 3 Total: 9
Bunny Attack: Style: 2 Control: 2 Damage: 1 Aggression: 2 Total: 7
The judges have made their decision. 101 go through!
Next, Mace II will be battling it out with Diotior and a special event, with not one, not two, but SIX of the best flippers in the wars. Its our Flipper Frenzy!

Splinter's tactics: Open arms, clamp opponent, use axe on opponent, repeat if necessary, and push it in the pit.
Hannibals tactics, flip opponent, get opponent to arena sidewall and oota it. If it cant then manouvre opponent into the pit.

Major Tom's tactics - hit things until the inevitable break down
Brutus Maximus - Go to the flame pit, set myself on fire, then crash into opponents and hope they get set on fire as well. Pyrotechnics, baby! :proud:

BATTLE TWO
From Dublin, in Ireland, Diotior!
Winners of three Sportsmanship Awards, this robot is famous for catching fire thanks to its red and black fur. Its weapon is a lifting scoop powered by springs, but it is slow and as said before, does burn easily!
From Hastings, in East Sussex, Mace II!
This team entered the first clusterbot in Robot Wars, Gemini. They've returned with Mace II, who made it to the semifinals of Series Two and Three. The main weapon is a front flipper, but at the back is a flail. It has no scrimech, though.
Roboteers, stand by!
B1: Diotior
B2: Mace II
House Robots: Matilda and Sir Killalot
3-2-1: Activate!
Two good robots here, but Mace II is the more successful in the past. Now it gets under Diotior and flips it up, but not over! Diotior comes back down and turns around. At the controls of Mace II, Shane Howard and Martijn Benschop. Diotior gets the scoop under Mace II this time and ALMOST flips it over, but not quite. Mace II recovers and backs in Diotior. The 3000rpm flail isn't doing much to the actual armour, but is stripping Diotior of its fur! Diotior gets under the side again. Is the scoop broken? Its pushing Mace II towards Matlida's CPZ! Matilda turns around and Mace II...OH! Mace II got hit by Matilda's flywheel and the front is slightly torn. Mace II gets away, but Diotior rams into it again and pushes it towards the wall. Mace II breaks free and goes to the centre of the arena. Diotior gives chase, but Mace II presses the pit release button! Now it focuses on Diotior, getting under it and lifting it up again, but Diotior is holding its ground here. Down it crashes, and turns to get the scoop under the side of Mace II again. The scoop flips Mace II up and ONTO its side! I thought Diotiors scoop was immobolised, but they were waiting for the right time to use it! I don't think Mace II will self-right from there. Its over for them. Sir Killalot waits in the background as Refbot comes in.
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!
A good start by Mace II, but Peter Redmond, Liam Eliot and Diotior go through to the heat final! Matilda comes in with her flywheel again on Mace II and SMASHES it onto its top! A piece of metal went flying into the air. That flywheel can cause so much damage. Sir Killalot picks it up by its flail and carries it...where will Killalot dump it? In the pit? Out of the arena! Oh, there. The floor flipper. Diotior waits in the distance as Mace II flies through the air and crashes back down to earth. Killalot pushes it towards the pit, and down Mace II goes!
Cease!
Mace II in the pit!
Diotior go through to the heat final.

Tactics:
Get under, push. Don't bother flipping unless there's a good opportunity for damage so that I don't leave the area under the scoop open to a shove from 101. I think Diotoir is a better pusher anyway? :)

Diotoir had Bosches iirc, 101 had the same motors in series 3 but used Iskra 800s in series 4...with the tracks might have been a better pusher, but who knows? :P
Tactics are to push Diotoir in the pit, avoiding the flipper. Good luck to you as well Liam :proud:
