The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Bet you didn't see that one coming...
As you've all noticed Robot SMASH!! is struggling (not cancelled), so exactly a year after the last one ended I bring you... THE EASTER BUNNY TRIBUTE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009!
Last year Seung Mina III flipped Cat with Wheels, Storm II, Behemoth, E Clawdius Unum and Calm Down Dear, It's Only a Robot out of the competition to take the Easter Bunny Tribute Trophy!
If you missed out on the fun you can read all about the exploits of the first championship here:
http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/foru...t=1857&start=0
Thankfully my battles have come on a lot since then... But it won't be written at the same lightning pace it was last time, plus I'm going away for a week this Saturday, so it will most probably be put on hold for a week, or maybe even not started until I get back. We'll see.
And so down to business...
The arena this time is The Burrow Version 2.0
This is a 20 x 10m2 box with stainless steel and hardox floor of varying thicknesses, with the four corners painted with hazard stripes. From a birds eye view the top wall is where you'll find the pit release button, while the pit itself is just outside of the top right CPZ. House robots are absent in the first round to allow four starting spaces, but are present in rounds 2 and onwards in 2 of the 4 corners. The hardox walls are 35cm high, and on each of the sides there are two static spikes like the ones seen in Robot Wars Series 4. If you ram your opponent at these hard enough there's a chance they could become impaled, if their armour has a weak point that is.
The house robots are those of Robot Wars.
After 3 minutes if the match is still going then this method shall be used to make the decision:
Damage, /10 x 4
Aggression, /10 x 3
Control, /10 x 2
Dominance, /10 x 1
An average will then be calculated from those scores (using the Mean).
100kg wheeled machines
110kg tracks
150kg shufflers
200kg true walkers
Other than that standard FRA rules apply, though nitrogen and 60v is allowed.
You may reserve a spot until Friday.
I am looking for 8 people to enter 4 machines each, you must have at least 1 realie from AFTER Robot Wars Series 5 or Battlebots Season 3.0.
The tournament consists of 4 x 8-robot heats and a standard grand final, 4-way melees in the first round.
Seedings based on the last championship are as follows (newer machines may replace their predecessors, but they must belong to that line of robot):
01. Seung Mina III
02. Calm Down Dear, It's Only a Robot
03. E Clawdius Unum
04. Super Gore Evo
05. Behemoth
06. The Zenith
07. Crimson Thunder
08. Another Night at the Bar
Get entering!!!! :D

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
I missed the last one cause of Egypt...I ain't missing this one :proud:
1: N³ (maintaining the Nidhogg line's record in Liam tourneys!)
2: Gabriel IV (maintaining the Gabriel line's attempts to become the best line of front hinged triangular shaped flippers in fanfic)
3: Still Hurting (maintaining the clubhouse of Team Trident in the off season until such a time as Messenger League or similar returns)
4: 4x4 (maintaining Joey's obscure real robot quotient and making that two machines in the team with hydraulic drives)
This is going to be epic, I can tell. :)

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Could you reserve a spot for me?

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Ooh, goody!
1. E Clawdius Unum (formerly Clawdius Decimus Murderous)
SHAPE- skirted wedge with small box section and rounded back
COLOUR- deep green with red shield emblazoned on the wedge, depicting a gold lion with a crown
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 95cm X 70cm X 40cm
SPEED- 14mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 0mm at sides and rear thanks to skirts (arranged in a Biohazard fashion, corner-to-corner), 10mm without
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors
WEAPONS- The main weapon, as ever, is the hydraulic diamond-tipped crushing claw. It is powered by a Vivoil pump with an 80mm x 40mm ram, with a 2kg tank for storing the hydraulics. The claw runs at 3000psi and, aided by the diamond tip, should be able to leave plenty of holes in another robot.
The front wedge also features a Firestorm-style blade and two flat 'spears' to aid in getting under the opposition. The wedge itself is now home to several Mute-style barbs to help ensnare other robots.
SRIMECH- A rear-hinged pneumatic arm on either side, powered by a pair of linear actuators. The rounded rear also prevents the robot getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, et tu, Brute? written on the underbelly
STRENGTHS- Quite nippy, good traction, powerful weapon, difficult to get underneath, fairly quick srimech
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability
PIC- http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1801 ... numor1.png
2. Jack-in-the-Box
SHAPE- skirted box with sloped sides, ala Beta
COLOUR- red, with a jester's head painted on the top
WEIGHT- 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 100cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm, but the wedges and Biohazard-esque skirts combined should give almost 0mm.
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels
POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors; 3 x 12v 12amp NiCad packs, giving 36v
WEAPONS- the entire top panel of the robot is a flipping device, powered by 2 x 39mm Dia high-pressure rams and giving roughly the same flipping power as Mute. What way is it hinged? No way. The flipper fires straight up like, well, a jack-in-the-box.
SRIMECH- The flipper. Hopefully.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to Joey for help
STRENGTHS- fast, strong, manoueverable, pushing power, powerful weapon, very difficult to get under
WEAKNESSES- It might have even more self-righting issues than Mute
PIC- http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5052 ... boxdc5.png
3. Mornington Crescent
SHAPE- flat cylinder
COLOUR- white, with the London Underground sign for Mornington Crescent on the top and bottom
WEIGHT- approx 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 20cm
SPEED- 12mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm
ARMOUR- 3.5mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- 4 x inner wheels
POWER- 2 x S28-400 Magmotors, running at 24v
WEAPONS- Mornington Crescent is armed with not one, but TWO outer spinning rings, one on top of the other. The top ring spins anticlockwise, while the bottom ring spins clockwise. Each ring has four teeth and weighs about 10kg. The rings are powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v each and can reach speeds of 1500rpm. The two rings spinning in alternate directions should also help the robot be easier to drive - theoretically, anyway.
SRIMECH- invertible
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to Joey and Andy for helping with stats
STRENGTHS- two spinners for the price of one, nippy, manoueverable, tough, more controlled than regular ring spinners
WEAKNESSES- wheels open to axes and crushers, unpredictable bouncing?
PIC- http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5661/m ... escent.bmp
4. 13 Black (RW7)
Should be a good one, Liam! :D

Srimech: At the rear, there is a linear actuated bar, and it can right the robot in 1 second.
Strengths: Powerful Weapon, Decent Pushing Power, Fast and effective srimech
Weaknesses: Hopefully, there is none. XD
Whiplash

It can easily dent hardox. It can also attack from both ends. Heavily Shock-Proofed, as well.
Srimech: The axe can easily self-right it (even when it's on its side), and it can also self-right even after the axe has fired, ala Killerhurtz.
Strengths: PSYCHOTIC AXE AND PUSHING POWER
Weaknesses: NONE AT ALL! (Except for Limited Co2 )
Next Stop, Jupiter
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Warrior SKF, with a wedge extension on the front.

Turning Circle: Zero... how many times do I have to tell you guys?! :lame:
Weapon: A nasty 27kg spinning rim powered by an LEM-130 Lynch, and spinning at 2000RPM. It also has 8 X hardox teeth on board. (Four on top, Four on Bottom) The rim can deliver some VERY nasty damage to another opponent. It can slice through titanium, and dent hardox without any problems. The motor is shock-mounted, to avoid killing itself from its own hits. The rim can also transfer its energy to the front kinetic flipper, thanks to a clutch. This flipper has a wedge extension which is nearly impossible to get under. The flipper can also throw robots with HUGE force. Can you say, OOTA?! :proud:
Srimech: Yes, it can run inverted... BUT the flipper can right the robot if needed.
Strengths: Can cause some EXTREME damage, Powerful Flipper, Shock-Proofed, A good all-rounder.
Weaknesses: A bit slow
Walk Don't Run 5
Weight: 110kg.
Body Shape: Cylinder body, with a square spinning rim
Colour: Forest Green Weapon, Gray for top and bottom.
Dimensions: 95 X 95 X 27.
Drive: 2 X LEM-130's @ 36v powered by 6 X NiCad Batteries.
Top Speed: 8 mph
Feet: 4 X Shuffling Pads with Asmaprene urethane rubber, and this prevents WDR from being flung away ala Typhoon.
Armour: 9mm Titanium for the base and top, 4mm Hardox for the ring spinner.
Ground Clearence: 5mm all around.
Weapon: 30kg Square Spinning Rim, spinning at about 1300RPM, powered by a LEM-130, and has four very big Hypno-Disc (Series 4 version) style teeth, curved and blunt to tear armour, or shock kill an opponent. Shock-Mounted to stop it from killing itself from its own attacks.
Srimech: Invertible.
Strengfths: Deadly Weapon, Heavily Armoured.
Weaknesses: Hates Flippers.
Good luck with this, Liam. :)

Only 7 machines have returned from last year, so there are only 4 seeds, 1 per heat. The only way those are going to change depends on what realie Chris enters, which may allow me to bulk the tournament back up to 8 seeds, if Chris enters Behemoth

Well, I am going away tommorrow so don't expect this to start until at least a week, but there's a small chance I'll have limited internet access and so there may be a chance I can post some battles in the coming week.
Tactics/Predictions ahoy!! :D
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
It's heeeeeeeeeere. :proud:
Heat A
N^3 vs. Jack in the Box vs. CrOokEd vs. Lethal Weapon
Pretty sure ol' Niddy'll swing through. Jack in the Box to possibly join it.
Seung Mina V [1] vs. PsycloniZer vs. Liar 2 vs. Neo-Mecha
AL HEIL TEH CHMP!!!111
:proud:
On a more serious note, I'd like to offer a team-up with PsycloniZer. Neo-Mecha's disc can be beaten by Psy's hammers and then after that we can double-team Liar. How'zat sound, AJ? :proud:
Heat B
Another Night at the Bar [3] vs. Iron Awe 2.1 vs. The Final Cut vs. Pick-Axe-of-Doom
*bleep*in hell. Well, since Bar's so damn unstable that it'll probably KO itself upon contact (according to Joey anyway :P), I'll attack Pick-Axe-of-Doom first. The polycarb should be really vulernable to my axe, although I could flip it over and then axe it. :proud: After that, see what's become of Martijn's bot and attack it if it's still alive, lol.
Next Stop, Jupiter vs. Megabyte vs. Mornington Crescent vs. Still Hurting
Megabyte and Still Hurting, I think, to go through.
Heat C
4x4 vs. 13 Black vs. Envy vs. Typhoon 2
Realie alert!!! Envy and Typhoon ftw?
Gravity vs. Curse of Dread vs. Shovearound 2 1/2 vs. Storm II [4]
Offer Tony a team-up, and regardless or not whether he takes me up on it (although it would be nice if he did, lmao), attack Gravity first. Shovearound should be able to dispose of Storm II easily by simply flipping it and then ramming it, so I won't attack Storm II unless Tony's having trouble. Just smack into Gravity's sides and let the armour fly. Invertible for the worst case too. :proud:
Heat D
Gabriel IV vs. Novastorm vs. Walk Don't Run 5 vs. E Clawdius Unum [2]
Thank god I'm not in this fight. I think Joey and Steve can easily outdo their opponents here.
Flick of the Wrist vs. Killobite Hex vs. Wedga Triton vs. 259
Go after Flick of the Wrist, and chew up its tires, de-wheel him, and leave him for dead. Once that's over with, try and lift over 259.
Looks very promising, Liam. :)

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Lethal Weapon's tactics: Kill stuff
Megabyte's tactics: Kill stuff
Novastorm's tactics: Pit stuff ASAP
Shovearound 2's tactics: Accept Kody's team offer. and pit stuff.
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
N³ vs. Jack in the Box vs. CrOokEd vs. Lethal Weapon
My primary target here is Lethal Weapon - straight from the off I shall accelerate straight to maximum speed and try to use my precise control and other associated gibberish to get him around the sides and rear, before he gets fully spun up. Once there, use my forks to get under the skirts to the main body, lift, crush into it, and then take to the pit for swift elimination by releasing it only once I get there.
In the event that Lethal Weapon evades my grasp before it gets fully spun up and I am not in a position to get at its rear end, I shall evade it and go for CrOokEd instead, get under it at the sides or rear, crush and lift it, and see if I can use it as a 'shield' when dealing with Lethal Weapon and bounce it around from its own recoil. That should take care of one or both of them :P
Jack-in-the-box I will only attack if doing so would guarantee a really easy win and the other options are much stronger at that time, as I'm teaming up with Mr. Steven Excellent himself on this one :proud:
Next Stop, Jupiter vs. Megabyte vs. Mornington Crescent vs. Still Hurting
Um...I'm a vertical spinner in amongst many horizontals. Not an ideal situation at all, but unless anyone wants to team up I will be attacking indiscriminately, using the flipper and spikes to fend people off until I have the disc spun up and then go after whoever's nearest and smash them. Rinse, repeat, try not to break down.
4x4 vs. 13 Black vs. Envy vs. Typhoon 2
Feed the cloth to 13 Black in the hope that it may clog up one of the discs, then go for Envy or 13 Black and try to clamp it and feed whichever one it is to Typhoon 2 (or if I somehow grab Envy, use it to knock Typhoon away again and again until it stops). If that somehow works, go around clamping robots and driving them into Typhoon or the pit.
I'm open to teamups here, although I doubt anyone will want to :proud:
Gabriel IV vs. Novastorm vs. Walk Don't Run 5 vs. E Clawdius Unum [2]
Myself and Mr. McGregor are teaming up again here :) Go for Novastorm, Clawdius has the better armour and can take out WDR easier by bending the shuffling feet with the crusher I think. Generally flip Novastorm over and over until such a time as it exits the arena, be it over the fence or down the pit, and then if WDR is still walking, flip it down the pit or out as well.
Best of luck to everyone, here's to a w00ty tourney with Liam's w00ty battles :talker:
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
CrOoKeD:
flip lethal weapon before he spins up then run like hell... flip, push pit! perhaps o.o.t.a if possible!
pick-axe-of-doom:
urm... axe axe axe! if a.n.a.t.b can implode on impact  then i will axe then push/drag him into the side wall/other robots! keep away from iron awe and axe/pit final cut or attack iron awe if i see the chance...
Typhoon: spin...kill...leave...haggis...take trophey...eat easter eggs! keep away from flippers until up to speed!
259: spin kill and keep away from flippers
jack
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
It won't explode on impact; I'm just re-iterating in my own words what Joey said about its instability, which could kill it off. Of course Joey may be wrong, though... :proud:
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Hooray, it's back! :proud:
HEAT A
ROUND 1
CrOokEd VS JACK-IN-THE-BOX VS Lethal Weapon VS N3
As I'll be teaming up with Mr Joey, I'm going to focus my attention on CrOokEd first, hoping either to pit it or flip it out the ring. My wedges and skirts should make it very hard for CrOokEd to get underneath me (And rather easy for me to get underneath it) and my good pushing power should allow me to push it wherever I want. Once it's been disposed of, help N3 take care of Lethal Weapon in the same way.
Looking forward to this one, Liam!

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Tactics for all my robots are to kill and push anyone who comes near.

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Hey! That's not fair! You said I had until midnight. It isn't anywhere NEAR midnight! It's CLEARLY 8:07pm (7:07pm) by the official forum time. Nowhere NEAR bloody midnight.
How dare you!
Because it's not midnight, I still have every right to enter! And here are my entries.
ORKA RV
Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: Basic Invertible box-wedge shape. 1m long, 0.8m wide, 0.3m at maximum height.
Speed: Some 15mph
TC: 0
GC: 8mm, 0mm at front.
Wheels; 6 inner
Armour; 7mm titanium
Power; 3x 12v batteries, powered by S28-400 Magmotors, at 24v.
Colour; Black with white patches
Weapons; A pneumatic CO2 powered flipping arm that spans most of the robots length. It can throw some 400 kilos and has about 50 flips. Although the arm itself is quite narrow (about half the robot width), the flipper plate expands the full width.
Srimech: It's a both-er. It can run inverted AND self-right using the arm.
Inspiration; I've always liked Orcas. Adding the K made it sound more dangerous.
Strengths; Weapon
Weaknessess: Hard to turn
DIE-REVERTA-TOPS
Weight; 100 kilos
Body Shape: A variation on the Wedge shape...it's sort of shaped like Spawn Again, but is more closely sized to Firestorm.
Speed; 15mph
TC; 0
GC; 0mm at front, 10mm at sides and back.
Wheels; 4 inner
Armour; 8mm titanium
Power; 3x 12v batteries, powered by S28-400 Magmotors, at 24v.
Colour; Green, with Killer Carrot style wrinkles, mouth and eyes. One of the eyes has a plaster over it, the other is a black eye. A few bandages are painted on this time.
Weapons: A large pneumatic rear-hindged CO2 flipper, capable of flipping a tonne or so. Mounted on the flipper, and powered by its own Bosch motor, is a roller. This is designed to thrust the robot out of the way of oppodents when flipped over, so it can self-right safely. This feature, I believe, is unique.
Srimech; It uses the flipper to self-right.
Inspiration; I've always liked Dinosaurs.
Strengths; Completely revamped, now much easier to control, turn and should flip harder.
Weaknessess: Still very much experimental.
AXE-O-LOTL
Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: Comengetorix shaped (box-wedge?), a metre long, 70cm wide and 30cm high.
Speed: 20mph
TC: 0
GC: 0mm at the front, 6mm elsewhere.
Wheels: 4 inner
Armour: 3.25mm Hardox all around.
Power: LEM130's at 36 volts, ala Storm 2. 3x12v batteries.
Colour: Has interchangable panels. One set is pure black, the other pure white with pink tinges.
Weapons: A very nasty pneumatic titanium axe, with the power of Dominator 2. The head is diamond tipped, and the whole weapon is VERY persistant. It can fire about 40 times in one fight.
Srimech: The axe rights the robot. The robots body is designed so it can't be side stranded.
Inspiration: My favourite amphibian, the axolotl.
Strengths: Powerful weaponary
Weaknessess: Obviously a limited CO2 supply.
And my realie will be S3
And next time, don't be so ruddy impatient.

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
...Chris...he CLEARLY made that post with reference to midnight yesterday...
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
He also CLEARLY said that the place would be reserved until Friday. Friday hasn't even FINISHED yet.
(And I thought the date said Apr 2nd anyway. My mistake on that part. But that still doesn't excuse the fact he closed the role one day too early)

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Either way around it, he still could have been a little more specific.
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
He seemed specific enough to me, he said right at the top of the page 'Chris will be replaced by Anthony Politzi at midnight if he doesn't get his entries in', but since that evidently isn't specific enough...can I ask if there's a good reason why you couldn't enter back when you reserved? If there was a good reason, and you'd said why, I'd think Liam would have been more accomodating of you entering a day or so late.
In any case, he's off on holiday tomorrow and probably wanted the tactics to be ready for him to write fights when he got back, since he said he may not have internet access on holiday.

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
The main problem I'm having at the moment was the password onto this forum. Having had it completely changed, I was unable to find the one I was given to get on for a while.
I have, literally, only JUST been able to find it and get on, thereby I wouldn't have seen his post. I remember him saying that I had until Friday (today) to get my stats in, so I wasn't too worried.
He specifically said Friday. Yesterday was Thursday. He's cut my entry time by a full 24 hours. That's the problem I'm having right now.
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Thing is, Chris, Friday begins AT midnight. All days do. When he said enter by Friday at midnight, he meant when Thursday turned into Friday. :P So Liam is not in the wrong here.
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
He did not say that. He said, quite clearly You may reserve a spot until Friday, which is today. And, again, when you consider I have not been able to get on, he should have been more patient, and NOT cut it back 24 hours.
Besides, what kind of person is going to be awake at midnight?
I'm just saying he didn't give me the designated amount of time, and that isn't fair.

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
It's past midnight and I'm online! :D

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
It's 9:15pm by the forum clock.
Look, I'm sorry....but when anyone sets a deadline, I'm used to it meaning By the latest. That usually means the day in question. Thereby, I would have thought I would have been within-time. So, when you consider I've been having so many problems getting on, I thought I was in time.

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
I'm in Kuwait so I'm two hours ahead of England time atm - it's still past midnight, I can't think of anyone I know that doesn't stay up past midnight to be honest.
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
I never stay up past midnight because I don't see the point. :proud:
-
Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
On one hand, I get my entries in, on the other, I spark a good deal of controversy.
Price for everything I guess.

Re: The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2009
Listen Chris
It was clear I meant midnight on Thursday, the beginning of Friday not the end of Friday
I'm sorry you're disappointed, but it's too late now
I'm going on holidays in about an hour, sadly I will not have internet access so the tournament won't be starting yet (no bumps please!! )
