FRFFT: The World Championships
I cant believe this is the fifth tournament I have done in between this month and September 2008 when I joined the FRA Forum. Thats a 7 month gap. Youre probably moaning that I should have better things to do, in which I do, but I think youll find this competition interesting.
I need 4 people to enter 4 robots each, one in each weight class
Featherweights: 1kg to 12kg
Middleweights: 24kg to 50kg
Heavyweights: 50kg to 100kg
Superheavyweights: 100kg to 200kg
Its a small affair, I know, but I think its for the best. You need to pick a country to represent. Ill take real robots, but they must come from where they do in real life. All of your robots can represent the same country or they can represent individual countries. The weight limits are doubled for walking robots
This time, well be using the house robots. The arena will be the Series 7 arena

Robot Name: Small System Shock
Shape: Tracked box with a Tornado style wedge on the front and skirts at the sides and rear
Weight: 14.96kg (10% weight advantage for tracks)
Length: 25cm
Width: 40cm
Height: 8cm
Motivation: 2 x titanium tracks coated with vulkalon, one on either side of the robot, protected from the sides but exposed from the top and bottom so it can run inverted.
Drive: 2 x Astroflight 940 cobalt magmotors run @ 24v from 2 x custom-built 2.4mAh NiCad packs
Armour: 3.2mm hardox monocoque
Weaponry: The robot is a very powerful, but controlled pusher and has the wedge on the front to get under other robots to push them around.
Speed: 15mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front and effectively 0 all round due to 5mm skirts made of grade 2 titanium, but there is 10mm clearance behind the skirts.
Srimech: The robot runs inverted
Colour: Light blue with the name written in yellow on top
Strengths: Very well armoured and strong
Weaknesses: No active weaponry
Notes: The original System Shock was a pretty successful rammer, coming second in the 128-robot Crash and Burn: Dual Duels with its team-mate Firefly. However it was very basic, and so was upgraded pretty quickly, but here it is reincarnated in featherweight form.
MW: The Eviscerator

Robot Name: Toad
Shape: Box wedge with sloped sides and rounded rear, plus two Wedge of Doom style scoops on either side of the front wedge
Weight: 100kg
Length: 60cm
Width: 85cm
Height: 9cm
Motivation: 4 x HDPE wheels, 97mm in diameter and each with a vulkalon coated foam-filled tyre
Drive: 2 x S28-400 magmotors run @ 24v from 2 x NiCad battlepacks
Armour: The Steel bar chassis is built on the outside of the robot, providing an exo-skeleton protection so that spinners cannot damage it, as they won€™t actually hit the armour itself, plus it could stop some axes from hitting the armour too. The actual armour is 12mm lexan and Lexiguard compound.
Weaponry: Hinged at the rear of the robot there is a 4mm hardox arm, 75cm in length and powered by a powerful linear actuator that will see it lift to almost vertical in 3 seconds, but this can be swapped for an S28-400 magmotor that can raise the arm in 1 second. Also at the end of the arm there are various attachments:
- A tungsten static spike, curved down and then up slightly so it can get under other robots and then snag their wheel holes when lifting them.
- A Crushtacean style claw, made of tungsten and drilled with speed holes, operated by a Litton motor @ 36v to grab so the arm can then lift.
- A 5mm hardox War Machine-style scoop, perfect for defence against spinners.
- A small tungsten tipped Pussycat style saw blade, powered by a Litton Motor @ 36v. This can be used for invertible opponents in order to damage wheels or tracks.
- A horizontal tungsten claw ala Big Nipper, powered by a Litton Motor @ 36v

Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front due to wedge and scoops, 7mm at sides is protected by 5mm thick grade 2 titanium skirts, 5mm at rear
Srimech: The rounded rear allows the arm to right the robot easily
Colour: Black, with gold outlines and flames on the top and on the scoops
Strengths: Interchangeable weaponry, good armour against spinners and axes
Weaknesses: No real damaging weaponry, crushers could get through the armour
SHW: Omega-Rex
Robot Name: Omega-Rex
Shape: Box with a steep wedge at the front
Weight: 200kg
Length: 90cm
Width: 90cm
Height: 25cm
Motivation: 6 x internal HDPE wheels with vulcanised wheels, 125mm in diameter
Drive: 4 x Briggs & Stratton E-Teks run @ 60v from 12 x 3600mAh NiCad battlepacks
Armour: 12mm hardox monocoque
Weaponry: A huge Matador-style 12mm grade 5 titanium flipper, hinged at the back of the robot and powered by dual 120mm non-attached rams @ 1000psi (can be cranked up to 2400psi if the tournament allows it) from 2 x 4kg nitrogen tanks to give 35-40 flips!
Speed: 20mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front, 10mm at sides and rear
Colour: Gold with silver outlines
Srimech: The flipper stylishly self-rights the robot in a high flip
Strengths: Powerful flipper
Weaknesses: High ground clearance at sides

Robot Name: The Eviscerator
Shape: Reverse Kill-o-Amp
Weight: 50kg
Length: 50cm
Width: 45cm
Height: 25cm
Motivation: 2 x internal HDPE wheels with vulcanised tyres, 270mm diameterand they are towards the front of the machine
Drive: 2 x Bosch 750w motors run @ 28.8v from 2 x 3600mAh NiCad battlepacks
Armour: 3.2mm hardox
Weaponry: MOE-style Ditch cutter blade at the front of the robot, powered by an S28-400 magmotor run @ 24v, it weighs 15kg and spins up to 2500rpm in 3 seconds. Should be very nasty for a middleweight weapon
Speed: 18mph
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 10mm
Colour: Red with silver outlines and the nbame written in yellow on either side and the top
Srimech: Invertible, spikes on the side prevent stranding
Strengths: Powerful weaponry
Weaknesses: wheels exposed to axes and crushers

Tactics:
360 will hit OverDrive until it (hopefully) stops
Steel Sandwich will get Hyper-Ventilate around the sides and/or rear and try to get it down the pit
N³ will lift Toad up at the sides to break its traction, clamp onto it with the crusher and pit it
Drive will shove Omega-Rex around, getting underneath the sides and rear, spiking it and at some stage delivering it to the pit.

Tactics time!
360 vs. OverDrive
Sounds like a featherweight version of Hypno Disc vs. Tornado to me. It would make sense to follow the same tactics as Tornado used in that match. Keep the front facing 360 for as long as possible and keep driving into the disc to keep the speed low. Ram it into the walls as much as possible and push it into danger, hopefully the pit. My armour should hold up, especially at the front. If I can keep the disc speed slow, that shouldn€™t matter anyway.
The Eviscerator vs. Typhoon
Hmm, not sure we can do much damage to each other here. I€™ll just spin up as much as possible and unleash some heavy hits. Hopefully I€™ll get lucky and tear a panel off or cause some shock damage.
Vengeance vs. Fissure
The design of Fissure€™s lifting arm makes it ideal for getting under skirts. After that, I€™ve got six wheel slots to get into and try and lift Vengeance up. Then it€™s just a case of dumping it into the pit. My armour should be able to stand up to the axe. Hopefully I should be able to control this match, especially if it can get in those wheel slots.

As usual, there won't be any house robots except Refbot.
From the UK, 360!
Entered by Joey, 360 is basically a smaller version of Hypno-Disc, but still as dangerous. The disc can cause heavy damage, but it is light, and could be pushed around.
From England, Overdrive!
Entered by AJ, this robot is a box on wheels that rams its opponents and pushes them around the arena. Its fast, but how effective will it be?

3-2-1: Activate!
What a way to begin the World Championships! 360 spins up and tries to get around the side of Overdrive, but AJ turns to push 360 from the side! OH! And into the wall! The disc has stopped spinning! Overdrive tries to push it again, but 360 backs away. Overdrive gives chase, but 360s disc has spun up to full speed. Overdrive charges in...OHH! Sparks fly and Overdrive is spun away a bit. No damage, the armour is quite strong. 360 comes in again, but Overdrive just charges head on again. It pushes 360 to one side but gets clipped by the disc. Joey gets away to the centre of the arena. Overdrive goes...where is it going? The pit release! It presses the button, down goes the pit. 360 needs to avoid that and chases after Overdrive. Overdrive doubles back and hits 360 again! Pushing it around and ALMOST into the pit! 360 gets away. Overdrive pushes from the side and onto the flame pit. 360 gets away again, but Overdrive pushes back. It's faster, Overdrive, at 15mph. Is the disc on 360 still working? Its spinning slowly. Now, Joey pushes Overdrive around and into the wall. Overdrive gets away and turns to push 360 toward the CPZ, but 360 turns away. I think all this pushing around has slowed 360 down. It turns around, but Overdrive is relentless and pushes it into the wall again! Joey tries to get away, but Overdrive pushes from behind and towards the PIT! 360 on the edge! Overdrive pushes again and OHH. Down goes 360! What a fight! Unlucky, Joey. Well done to Overdrive.

I don't know if everyone from the old forum has checked into this one yet, which is a problem because I don't know if Liam is here. I need his country for this and his tactics.
I know its slow moving at the moment, but I don't think the FRFFT chain will continue very long. Like I said, you may have known this forum was coming, but I didn't. I'm not too sure why, though

Quick tip...the new forum came into being on 18 March. Anyone who has posted since then is aware of the new forum and has logged on it (Liam has, for example, but as he says in the Easter Bunny Championships thread he's on holiday and can't get online), and I think most of the community have found it (the only worrying exception is Lewis, who hasn't been seen in a while)
And like I've said before you should have seen it coming, the announcements made, the emails sent and the fact the old forum now leads to a redirect page should have helped there.

3-2-1: Activate!
Two spinning robots here, so its interesting. The Eviscerator swerves to avoid the dangerous weapon on Typhoon, who charges right at the side! The Eviscerator backs out of the way just in time, but Typhoon turns and OHH! It hits the front of The Eviscerator and the sparks fly! The Eviscerator recovers and backs into Typhoon, whose weapon has been slowed by the impact and pushes it over the flame pit! Thats not good, the electrics will burn out there! AJ gets away as The Eviscerator presses the pit release button. Down goes the pit and they want to avoid that. Typhoon still hasn't spun up to full speed yet, and I wonder if it was damaged? The Eviscerator turns into it again and the blade creates more sparks on the armour of Typhoon! It hasn't made any real damage to the shell, but Typhoon is pushing back! It pushes The Eviscerator into the wall. Liam pushes back, though and towards the pit! Typhoon breaks free as The Eviscerators weapon spins again. A close match so far, but The Eviscerator on top I think. OUCH! The two collide again and Typhoon is knocked away. The Eviscerator closes in, but backs out because...Typhoon isn't moving! Did that impact knock it out? Maybe. The Eviscerator hits it again! Sparks fly, but Typhoon is just nudged into the angle grinder. AJ can't do anything about it! Refbot comes in.
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!
The Eviscerator can do whatever it wants to do to Typhoon now. The front spinning blade RIPS into the armour! It has laid into it. Liam switches off the blade and backs into Typhoon again, pushing it towards the pit and down they go! Typhoon, out in Round Two of Series Two, but no furthur will they go here!
Cease!

Next, we have two heavyweights: Fissure and Vengance!
From England, Fissure!
A box wedge shaped robot with a lifting spike in the middle, this AJs latest heavyweight creation. Its manourvable but there is a high ground clearance at the back.
From the UK, Vengance!
A six wheel drive box wedge armed with an axe, this is Lewis's entry into the heavyweights. It has lots of force at the front, but it only has 20 axe hits per fight.
Roboteers, stand by!
3-2-1: Activate!
Vengance is off to a quick start, but avoids Fissure! Why, I wonder...OH! That's why, to get under the side! AJ turns Fissure around to try and get the lifting spike under the skirts of Vengance, but Vengance pushes it towards the arena wall! OHH! It just RAMMED Fissure against the wall and Fissure crashed away. Its recovered, but Vengance hits it on the top with the axe! Fissure turns to get under the front but Vengance is just too fast and gets under again! Down comes the axe, but Fissure gets away! It turns to get the spike under Vengance's skirt, but Lewis backs away. Fissure gives chase. A good battle so far. Vengance suddenly doubles back and tries to push Fissure away, but Fissure has gotten under the front wedge! It lifts it up, but not over! Vengance strikes it again with the axe, but Fissure is unfazed and tries again, backing Lewis into a CPZ! Vengance pushes Fissure away and onto the flame pit, then goes to the pit release! Down goes the pit, and they'll have to avoid that now, these two. Fissure moves to the centre of the arena to try and get under Vengance again, but Vengance turns faster and scoops under Fissure, pushing it towards the angle grinder! Fissure pushed against it, but Lewis backs away, allowing it to get free. Down comes the axe of Vengance, onto the top of the titanium armour of Fissure, which has withstood it so far. Now Fissure gets under Vengances front again, and starts to slowly lift it up! Vengance fires its axe, but it does nothing to help it escape! Fissure tries to push it over, but the spike has gotten caught in one of Vengances wheels! Six wheel drive in Vengance, but it can't use that 20mph speed to get away right now! Fissure turns around and pushes Vengance towards the pit. Lewis tries to get free of Fissure, but Fissure has control and towards the pit it goes...down goes Vengance! A good start by them, but Fissure made good on it exposing itself for a short while and finished it.
Cease!
Vengance won't be getting any!
Fissure goes into the next round.
Next time, the superheavyweights!
I'm not too sure what to make of this. I have a feeling it won't be up to your standards, mostly because of Lewis's absence. I do hope he returns, though.

Next, we have the first superheavyweight battle of the FRFFT World Championships between Vertigo and Uberforce 2.0
From Germany, Uberforce 2.0!
A fast box wedge with six wheels, Uberforce could force the opposition aide here! Entered by AJ, it entered a previous FRFFT series, but the wheels are exposed.
From the UK, Vertigo!
Entered by Lewis, Vertigo is another box wedge with six wheels, but is armed with a powerful flipper. It is made from Hardox, but once the Co2 runs out, it may be feeling as its name suggests!
Roboteers, stand by!
3-2-1: Activate!
Two evenly matched robots, but with different weapons. Uberforce makes the first move and RAMS Vertigo into the angle grinder! Vertigo recovers to get around the side of Uberforce and THROWS it into the air! Aggression already by both robots. Uberforce is right way up, so its wedge can still work. It backs away, closly followed by Vertigo. Now Uberforce doubles back and tries to get around the side, but Vertigo is much faster and OHH! It got under first and hurled Uberforce up against the wall! AJ tries to get away, but all six wheels have been taken off the ground. Will Vertigo throw it out? Its just watching Uberforce, but suddenly moves forward and pushes Uberforce off the wall and lets it go! Was that wise for Lewis to do, because Uberforce quickly recovers and starts pushing at the sides of Vertigo, but it can't get under those skirts. Vertigo turns, but Uberforce backs away, so Vertigo is flipping at thin air. It regains itself and chases after Uberforce, who is in the centre of the arena. Vertigo RAMS into Uberforce again, but doesn't flip! Uberforce turns as Vertigo comes back for another go, but this time it gets out of the way! They size each other up, but Uberforce can't do anything unless Vertigo is facing the front, where there are no skirts. Vertigo swerves into the side of Uberforce again and OHH! Over it goes! This time, its upside down, Uberforce, so the wedge is useless. The judges look on. Uberforce presses the pit release button. Vertigo slides under the inverted wedge and FLIPS again! Uberforce was almost in the pit there! It gets away over the flame pit. Vertigo follows. The last ten seconds of the clock count down. Uberforce CRASHES into the side of Vertigo again and pushes it against the wall using the rear part instead of the wedge. Vertigo turns to flip it one more time.
Cease!
A good battle. The judges will make their decision!

A controversial decision, but Vertigo wins. Well done Lewis.

From the UK, Hyper Ventilate!
An odd design, basically two wedges with a lifting spike in the middle that can lift other robots up. Its invertible, but the wheels are exposed and how effective is it?
From Canada, Steel Sandwich!
A box wedge, the main weapon of this robot is its speed and front spikes which deliver a crumpling blow to its opponents. It is unreliable, though.
Roboteers, stand by!
3-2-1: Activate!
Steel Sandwich looks very low to the ground, so this might help it here against the lifting spike of Hyper Ventilate. Hyper Ventilate pushes it from the side and slightly lifts it with the spike, but Steel Sandwich falls back to the ground. It turns to get under Hyper Ventilate, but Hyper Ventilate is first and gets the spike under one of the wheels! It lifts Steel Sandwich up and OVER! The wedge on Steel Sandwich is useless now. It backs away, but Hyper Ventilate is faster and RAMS it into the arena wall! Joey tries to get away, but Hyper Ventilate lifts it up and leaves it leaning against the wall! Lewis has done enough here, because Steel Sandwich isn't coming down from there. Refbot comes in.
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10!
What a shame. Steel Sandwich didn't really stand a chance, even with its low ground clearance. Hyper Ventilate still got hold of it. Hyper Ventilate hits the pit release button and goes over to Steel Sandwich, hitting it and knocking it free! It doesn't matter, though. Joey turns to get under the side of Hyper Ventilate, but it lifts itself off with the arm.

It might be a box on wheels, but it has eight drive motors and a wedge at the front to ram other robots around. Its invertible, but how effective is it?

Drive is the faster here, but it needs to avoid that flipper of Omega Rex. Drive turns and pushes into the side of Omega Rex. It gets under and OHH! It RAMS Omega Rex into the wall. Omega Rex recovers and chases after Drive. Drive turns again to face the side of Omega Rex, but Omega Rex does the same and gets under Drive. OHH! Drive THROWN into the air and CRASHES back down to earth! Did that do any damage? I don't think so. Its still moving, and gets under Omega Rex from behind and pushes it into a CPZ. No house robots, but Liam gets away. Drive presses the pit release button. Down goes the pit. Omega Rex bashes into the side of Drive and pushes it towards the wall! Drive goes FLYING, but comes back down inside the arena and not outside! Its still going, but for how long? Crashing into the side of Omega Rex again and pushing it into the wall, but Omega Rex flips itself free. What a fight this is. Drive hits Omega Rex again and pushes it towards the PIT! Omega Rex backs away just in time, but gets under Drive and OHH! It FLIPS and Drive goes tumbling into the pit. Omega Rex has snatched the crown away, but for how long?
Cease!

From the UK, Micrompression!
A box shape with two claws on the front, Micrompression competed in FRFFT Series Two. Its invertible and fast, but has a high ground clearance at the back.
From Wales, Small System Shock!
A box with tracks that pushes other robots around. Its invertible and has strong armour. How damaging will be be, though?
Roboteers, stand by!
3-2-1: Activate!
Both robots are similar in design, but with different styles of attack and weaponry. Small System Shock turns to get around the side Micrompression and pushes it towards the flame pit! Micrompression recovers and tries to grab hold of the sides, but Small System Shock gets away. Lewis pushes Small System Shock aside, instead. Small System Shock, I'd say is on top at the moment. It chases after Micrompression, but now Micrompression turns around and OH! It pushes Small System Shock towards the wall and the claws grab hold of it! Small System Shock, though, has been built for traction and speed, so it pushes Micropression back! Lewis won't give in though! He lets go, but tries to get under Small System Shock with the wedge. Small System Shock gets under with its wedge and pushes it towards the CPZ. Micrompression turns towards the pit release button! Down goes the pit. Small System Shock pushes from behind, but Micrompression breaks free. It turns again and this time gets the claws around the side of Small System Shock! Small System Shock can't get away. It can only move on one side and swings around madly. Micrompression holds its grip on it, but the Hardox armour of Small System Shock is standing up it it. It lets Liam's robot go and gives chase, pushing from behind. Small System Shock nudges it, but Micrompression retaliates by turning around and pushing it towards the wall! Small System Shock pushes back as well, and Micrompression ALMOST goes into the pit! It grabs hold of Small System Shock again, but Small System Shock has far more traction and rams Micrompression into the wall! The last ten seconds count down. Micrompression lets go, but Small System Shock pushes it again over the flame pit. Micrompression gets away and nudges Small System Shock from the side.
Cease!
Two evenly matched robots. But only one can go into the final. The judges will make their decision.

Small System Shock: S: 2 C: 2 D: 0 A: 2 Total: 6
Its controversial, but Micrompression wins. Well done, Lewis! Bad luck to Liam, though.

I've been thinking about this guys, and since it is exams time, I know you have a lot to do and won't be here as much. I've also discovered that vapourbots aren't really my strong point at the moment
I know you've all enjoyed the FRFFT series, and I did too. But I think, once I've finished the legends tournament, I'll be taking a very long break
So, as of now, the FRFFT: World Championships is no longer in play. Sorry guys, but I rushed into it a lot and its not as exciting as I thought it would be
This is NOT the end of the FRFFT. I'll do series three, which will probably be a very small affair, maybe 4 or so robots
I hope you do well on your exams guys, and I'm really sorry about this
