Guy from dominator 2 team works at my collage!

i was walking around my collage today and infront of me a man walks out of 2 double doors wearing a lab coat, then turns and walks right by me and i stood still in amazment thinking thats the guy who had the robot dominator 2 it was the bigger guy who was with the team up untill the 6th wars who i think used to be the driver.

the doors where he came out from go to a workshop type thing in my collage and the workshop im in is a bit further down the hall so im sure ill bump into him again and ill ask him if hes the guy and also where dominator is now:)

also am i right in thinking that dominator isnt active anymore?

Last time i saw it run was at Folkestone where they kept moaning about getting stuck in the barriers!

i think their was a new dominator at one point? Peter halloway was the main guy i think, didnt have alot of hair, then you had paul the tall guy with a tash, team was from huntingdon.

it must have been peter halloway then, and im positive its him because ive just watched an episode of robotwars with dominator and its the same guy

There was a Dominator 3, which to my knowledge, only ever appeared at Billings Aquadrome the once.

The axe mechanism blew itself apart and Mighty Mouse punched a hole in its 3mm thick welded titanium shell. I have not seen it since. Must be gathering dust in a garage somewhere. Introduce yourself Calum, and ask him where it is, I might even buy it off him.

I wonder how many robots there are out there just sat in garages gathering dust. I would guess its a fair few!

I agree, some of these vetaren teams were still had a new and better design which I think would have been marvelous to see. They now rust in gararges without ever seeing any action Sush as:

Steel avenger 2
Cassius 3
Chaos 3

there waiting for it to come back on TV and then they will all be back

if any of you remember barberous 2, the guy who made it- simon raferty told me if robotwars came back he would definatly take his robot back on the show

I wouldnt say that Steel Avenger and Chaos 2 are rusting in garages. They usually make guest appearances at Robot Rumble as do John, Jackie and George. And as for Cassius 3, although it may not be there, Rex most certainly is.

Its not just a lack of TV that prevents some people (although not all) from being on the live circuit, they have other commitments such as jobs, families and mortgages to take care of first.

I didnt meant the original robots, I meant that both teams had designed new versions of thoes robots (I saw the new version of SA 2 part done in a real robots magazine issue). I have never seen these versions work and I dont think that anyone else has, if so then where else could they be other than having the projects scrapped and dissasembled.

ill still stick with what i said about TV - if it was back people would be back

battle bots has proven it - theres more then double signed up to go then there was at robogames last year and there will be more signing up

mortgages, jobs, families do not get in the way of robot events, were having nearly an event every month most the time more then 1 event so theres plenty on the calender unless the 200bots+ who used to be about all work every weekend of the year - its a family hobby the majority of roboteers come in families - its not the most expensive hobby either its pretty cheap - football used to cost me more then robots do

but tbh i dont even care about all the old robots - were putting on shows with more then enough robots and iv also made more money in 2007/2008 then we ever did from robot wars - there the 1s missing the great social life we have at the weekend events while there sitting at home next to there boring wifes moaning at them - o and all the old robots suck they would all get killed by the current bots

FRA, you must have contact details for most the old lot? most of them prob signed up to this forum - send them all an email telling them were still around might get some of them interested again

it was these OLD BOYS who i believe made a big impact of what the sport what it is today. Their robots may not be as good as todays machines as they have given up and not evolved their machines. im sure if they were around today their machines would be just as good as e.g bigger brother, terrorhurtz, iron awe.

hypno disc ye it was amazing back in the day but now it wouldnt get through most things nowadays - chaos 2 was past its best by series 5

robots now r 10 times better its been like 7 years? so ofcourse there going to be better now

and ye i would prefer to be on tv more then money as im sure the top bots made a fair bit back in the day and are prob still making money off it and iv got a simple way to make money but it wont work without the fan base which comes with tv

i think fire storm is still around - they go to the expo events or they did do no longer then 2 years ago

and ye ofcourse there robots would be as good as ours if not better
thz was built like in 2003 and is still 1 of the best bots around but i do see it getting old now and thor is taking over - but johns sorting beta out which will be good

it would make great tv if it was on as 75% of the robots entering now have a very good chance of winning where back in the day there was only a few but it was all fixed on robot wars anyway

You heard me say it during the fight, even THz didn't give me that much damage. Even in the last battle when Kan-Opener and THz were to finish Splinter off it took a lot of time to do the kind of damage that Dominator 3 did (of course me having a lucky shot and closing the valve of THz' bottle didn't help). The thing is though that D3 uses a spike and THz a more blunt axe, so THz flattens while D3 pierces.

I hope Dominator2/3/(4?) isn't retired because they were so good in series 4 and 5!! :(

its been a while since i started this thread, but i was seriously sure that i saw peter halloway at my college twice! mabye i should have gone and spoke to him there and then but i've not seen the guy again. seeing as i've nearly finished now and don't need to go back in for a few weeks- i rang the college this morning and talked to a few departments asking if a peter halloway worked there and so far its apparantly a no! which im amazed at seeing as im litterally 100% sure the guy i saw was him. but he could still work there and be classed as a technician- meaning some people might not know his name also meaning hes not on the staff list.
im going back to college one day next week because another technician i no from the course i did last year is getting some metal cut for me so ill ask him and see what he says- mabye all the tehnicians know each other. will see.

So we've got Ian Lewis selling the Big Issue and Rex Garrod on the door of the Co-op. Keep us up-to-date on any more :P

as for craig charles, please don't make another show interact with the coronation street set, it was bad enough the first time.:S

and growler got succesfully re-homed with a family although i wouldn't want to be that postman :)
