The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Let the wars begin!
Yep, its back...the tournament some people have called the best new fanfic tournament on the FRA for some time while others have called the front half of RW series 2, very badly tack welded onto the back half of RW series 3, with entirely too much detail and huge delays has returned for its second series. Last year, Darkestar overcame challenges, Nitro-Gene, Envy, Exertion, SoR Hex, Ripper, and a large fire in one of its wiring looms to claim the trophy and title of Chevron Championship Winner. This year, Darkestar is back, but will one of 71 other robots be able to wrest the crown from Alexs head?
The format of CC2: MMSO will be pretty much the same as the last series. 72 entrants will be split into 12 heats, with each heat containing 6 robots. They will first be put through the Gauntlet, a three way obstacle course similar to that in series 2, where the robot that covers the least distance or takes the longest amount of time to complete the course is eliminated.
The remaining five attempt a trial, which changes (between Sumo, Tug Of War, Joust, Grand Prix, Football, and Labyrinth) depending on each heat. The robot that puts in the worst trial performance will be eliminated, and the remaining four machines will battle it out in one on one battles to determine a heat winner.
The heat winners will then be split into two series semi finals, each following a similar format to the heats with a gauntlet, pinball trial, and one on one battles to determine two grand finalists from each heat. The grand final will determine the final four places by one on one battles, a third place playoff and then a grand final to end all finals, or it will be if my previous battles are anything to go by. :P
Without further ado, I invite you to read...
The Rules
I require 18 vapourboteers or roboteers to enter 4 robots each. At least two of these must be either vapourbots or robots you have actually built, as Id prefer a tournament not full of realies with only three people entering vapours.
In the likely event that I dont get 18 entrants, I shall call up multiple permutations of Joey McConnells All Star (...you sure Star is the right word here? Ed) IV of select realies to fill the remaining spots.
The weight limits are:
- Robots propelled by wheels - omnidirectional or otherwise - have a maximum weight of 100kgs
- Robots propelled by tracks, any sort of shuffling mechanism, or miscellaneous mobility methods get 10kgs extra on top of the wheeled limit, or 110kgs maximum.
- Robots that move by a true walking mechanism - my decision on this is final - get double the wheeled limit, or 200kgs maximum.
The maximum voltage allowed is a nominal 48v DC, for both realies and vapours.
The maximum pressures are 1000psi for pneumatic systems and 3000psi for hydraulic systems. Any gas is allowed in pneumatic systems provided its not obscenely dangerous.
Clusterbots have no limit to the amount of parts and size, as long as they are capable of operating as one unit - which is required for the gauntlet and trials - and if 50% by weight of the cluster is eliminated, the entire robot is considered to be out.
Everything else is according to the official FRA ruleset.
Stats
I will accept statistics for vapourbots in any reasonable format (including and not limited to; standard statistics sheets, descriptive paragraphs, labelled diagrams, emails, a fleet of carrier pigeons, singing telegram) but they must contain sufficient information about these:
NAME:
WEIGHT:
DIMENSIONS: (length, width and height, state units please)
SHAPE: (or provide picture)
DRIVE: (what motors/engine/etc, how many wheels/tracks/legs, ideally material of same as well)
SPEED:
GROUND CLEARANCE (be realistic please)
ARMOUR:
WEAPONRY: (what is it, what is it made of, how does it work, what powers it, and how is that power transmitted?)
SRIMECH/INVERTABILITY:
I would also like, although its not compulsory, to know:
COLOUR:
BATTERIES/POWER: (see below note on batteries though)
TURNING CIRCLE: (please, please, please state only if its not zero, no need to be flippant about it :P)
ANY EXTRA NOTES/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES/ETC.:
Realies obviously dont need any stats stating, Ill let you know if I need more info on them.
I SHALL BE CHECKING ALL VAPOURS ENTERED, TO THE SAME STANDARD AS I CHECK MY OWN TEAM, TO ENSURE THEY ARE SOMEWHAT IN WEIGHT AND REALISTIC.
BATTERIES: After the furore Kody caused when he asked for battery stats in C&B3, I have come up with a solution:
- Robots that have sufficient batteries stated to allow for a five minute battle, and prove to be reasonably inside the weight limit upon checking, will be allowed in the tourney without reservations. :)
- Robots that have no, vague, or ludicrously inadequate *waves at Matty* battery stats, but if the weight of sufficient batteries does not bring it over the weight limit when checks are performed, will be allowed :) but the vapourboteer/roboteer will be informed that their stats are lacking.
- Robots that have no, vague, or inadequate battery stats, and when checked dont have enough weight left for sufficient batteries, will not be allowed in the tourney  until the problem is fixed.
Seeds
#1: Darkestar (reigning champion) - Alex Holt
#2: Ripper - Shane Swan/Jonno
#3: SoR X/replacement - Andrew Jackson
#4: Door Stops - Frank Goacher
#5: Macduff The 4th - Kody Kunz
#6: Exertion - Andrew Jackson
In addition to those who have seeds, Daniel Stickler, Steve McGregor and Martijn Benschop have reserved places over MSN.
Details of the arena and gauntlet/trials will come once all entries are in, or on request. They will largely be the same as last time though.
I hope this all goes well, with A level revision and other things there are likely to be severe delays but I aim to finish this no matter what.
Thats all, I think, feel free to point out anything Ive missed...so happy new year, and get entering people, theres 10 places left. :)

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Just realised I forgot something...
OTHERWEIGHTS
Yep, CC2: MMSO will feature otherweights as well. More details will be available closer to the time, but for now suffice to say that itll be a series of melees and one on ones, so no gauntlet and trials, and they are entirely optional; you dont have to enter these. However, if you wish, the categories are:
Antweight (0-150g rollers, 0-225g shufflers/walkers)
Featherweight (1-13.6kg)
Lightweight (13.6-27kg)
Middleweight (27-54kg)
Super Heavyweight (100-154kg)
You can enter as many or as few of these as you wish, but you may only enter one robot per class. They will be subject to the same rules as the main tournament, except for the antweights which are subject to the official Antweight World Series rules, to be found at http://www.antweight.co.uk/rules.htmhttp://www.antweight.co.uk/rules.htm
So...uh...get entering again? :P

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Yay!! I finally get a place in this after narrowly missing out last time! w00t! :proud:
ENTRANTS
Monsoon Magnum
Dimensions (L x W x H): 80cm x 70cm x 35cm
Shape: Invertible box, front wedge, slanted sides and steep rear wedge.
Colour: Black with a white trim all around the machine. On the top the words Monsoon Magnum are written in a thick bold font with a picture of a bullet underneath.
Weight: 100kg
Drive: 2 x LEM130s running at 36v, powered by a bunch of 36v NiCads.
Top Speed: Approx 15mph.
Wheels: 4 x 37cm diameter, 15cm wide Aluminium hubs, with Vulcalon grips added. Each side connected by a heavy duty drive chain.
Armour: The whole machine is constructed from a 4mm Hardox monocoque shell.
Weaponry: This incarnation of Monsoon is going back to its roots, a lifting device! The machine has an electric lifting arm powered by 2 x S28-400 Magmotors running at 36v, which in turn are powered by 36v NiCad batteries. The motors are geared down 75:1, meaning they are really torquey and should be able to lift well over 250kg without straining. The arm is made from 5mm Hardox, and runs parallel with the front wedge. On the bottom of the lfiting arm is an extender made from 6mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy, sharpened to slide under robots easily.
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 7mm at sides and back.
Srimech: Invertible.
Fling
Dimensions (LxWxH): 100cm x 80cm x 40cm
Shape: Shallow wedge with angled sides and a shaped rear to stop it getting stranded, as well as keeping the wheels on the ground if going up a wedged robot or a ramp. On the bottom of the wedge is a wedge extender, making the ground clearance 0mm.
Colour: Half black and half white, with white decoration on the black side and black decoration on the white side. Celtic bands painted throughout the robot.
Weight: 100kg.
Drive: 2 Sinclair C5 Motors running at 24v, powered by Nicad Batteries.
Batteries: 3x 3000mAh Nicads at 24v, giving 9Ah. These power both the drive and the winch needed for the weapon.
Top Speed: Roughly 15 to 20mph.
Wheels: 2 x 20cm diameter go-kart wheels filled with expanding foam instead of air. These are positioned at the back of the machine.
Armour: 4mm Hardox for the wedge extender, 8mm Titanium on the sides and 6mm Titanium everywhere else.
Weaponry: A €œleaf spring€ flipper mounted on the front of the machine. The concept is similar to Team Whyachi€™s Red Square, but with the flipper on an angle to toss robots lengthways AND upwards. Can you say OOTA? . The flipper plate itself is made from a tempered piece of 1 thick Titanium/Vanadium alloy, designed to spring back to a curved shape once it has been flattened. One section is fastened securely to the top of the wedge, with the tempered edge winched down so it lies flush with the rest of the wedge. When a robot is on the front wedge, the free end is released and the opponent is sent not only upwards, but also away from the machine. The flipping plate is winched down by an S28-150 Magmotor running at 24v, geared down 400:1.
Turning circle: 0m.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 2cm at the back, varying between both on the sides.
Srimech: Flipper.
Squish Reincarnated
Dimensions (L x W x H): 80cm x 65cm x 40cm
Shape: Boxy wedge, with angled sides and side skirts made from 5mm Titanium. The top of the machine comes to a point, thereby making it land on its side if flipped.
Colour: Black with two enormous Anime-style red eyes on each side of the weapon.
Weight: 100kg
Drive: 4 x S28-150 MagMotors running at 24v, powered by some 24v NiCad batteries.
Top Speed: About 12mph.
Wheels: 4 x 15cm diameter Titanium wheels, coated with Vulcalore for added grip.
Armour: 7mm Titanium all over, with the front wedge reinforced with a layer of 3.5mm Hardox. Base-plate is 8mm Polycarbonate.
Weaponry: Embedded in the front wedge is a crushing claw, similar to that of Sir Killalot or Crushtacean. It is made from 2cm thick Titanium and the bottom part of the jaw is designed to be flush with the front wedge. The top part of the jaw is jagged. The jaw is powered by a 80mm x 40mm hydraulic ram, which is then powered by a Vivoil pump running at 24v. The claw runs at 3000psi. The main premise of the weaponry is to lift and crush at the same time.
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and sides, 7mm on back.
Srimech: An arm on each side of the robot extends from the main body each time the claw/lifter is activated. Each arm is made from 1cm Polycarbonate.
Maleficent:new:
Dimensions (L x W x H): 90cm x 50cm x 35cm
Shape: Invertible box. There are 2 steel spikes on each side to stop it getting beached, and the rear is angled to a point (like this: )
Colour: The main bodywork is black, but there are green and bright yellow spots painted over it sporadically.
Weight: 100kg
Drive: 2 x S28-400 Magmotors running at 36v, powered by 36v NiCad batteries.
Top Speed: The robot has been geared down so it€™s maximum speed is 12mph. Hopefully this will provide it with more torque and a lot more control.
Wheels: 4 x Titanium/Vanadium alloy hubs, coated in Vulcalon. Super grippy!!
Armour: The whole machine is armoured in 35mm HDPE, allowing it to be well armoured but also light at the same time.
Weaponry: At the front of the robot is a 4mm thick Hardox scoop/wedge (kinda like Punjar from Battlebots), with a 3mm Titanium lip at the bottom in order to get underneath machines. Inside the scoop/wedge is a small spinning blade weighing 5kg. It is powered by a LEM130 motor running at 24v and made from a single piece of Titanium/Vanadium alloy. There are 2 teeth on the disc shaped like claws and will hopefully tear at a machines underbelly as well as potentially flipping them. The disc weapon and the scoop/wedge can be taken off individually if necessary, depending on the type of battle Maleficent is taking part in.
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front, 1cm on sides, maximum of 2.5cm at the back.
Srimech: Invertible.

I think he already has reserved you a space Steven :proud:
Ive sorted out the armour on Blast, but what changes do you specifically want to Autoism, because do you wish I change the voltage on the Mag powering the claws, or on the motors.
I think the exo-skeleton is the problem with the armour, so Im thinning it down by 1mm.
Does this sound OK?

Double Killas halves have Perm 080s motors, Ringwraith has S28-400 Magmotors, and both have Nicad batteries (24V and 36V respectively).

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
If I may enter, please?
Here are two heavyweights I made up just now. Feel free to point out any mistakes, and Ill work on them until they meet your expectations
The Kill Point
Weight: 97kg
Shape: An invertible box like Tornado or Storm
Dimensions: 64cm X 42cm X 9cm
Power: 4 750watt electric motors, like the ones Firestorm uses (I think...)
Speed: Around 10 or 12 mph
Wheels: 4 Storm II style wheels
Armour: Aluminium, and inside, a reinforcement made of titanium. The layers are 2mm thick
Weapon: A steel spike (If static weapons are allowed). It has sharp blades on the side of the spike
Srimech: Invertible. There are small bars on the side to stop it being propped there
Colour: Silver with hazard stripes on the side
Notes: I made this up not long ago, and it is based on a TV show I watched on Bravo. Turning circle is 0
Skullcrusher
Weight: 99kg
Shape: Cylinder
Dimensions: (Diamiter) 90cm X 15cm
Wheels: Two
Power: 2 24v Nicad batteries. 2 more power the weapon
Speed: 9mph
Weapon: Crushing jaws on the front like Sgt Bash. They are electrically powered, so probably wont be much use
Srimech: None
Notes: Turning circle 0, based on a one off character from Bottom who beat up Richie and Eddie at the end of an episode :proud:
My other heavyweights will be real, if allowed: Joker from Extreme Warriors (The RWEW Series One version, which is a silver full body spinner with Joker on the side) and Nightstalker (From RWEW Series Two: A black full body spinner with sharp blades and two menacing eyes painted on)
The Kill Point and Skullcrusher will represent Jersey, the island in the Channel Islands I live on. Since they belong to the UK, I might as well have represented the country as a whole instead. Real robots represent where they come from (In order of intro: Noble County, IN and Yuma, AZ)
Other weights will be along soon. Good luck with this, Joey. Point out any mistakes I have made, as I fear I have made loads
See you later!

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Can you reserve me a spot please Joey... I have some batteries to solve ;)
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Sorry, I forgot. Skullcrusher is made from 2mm thick titanium
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
ah oops CrOokEds base is made of 6.5 mm titanium and the magmoters are s28-150s
keep dead meat in please, its a shame but hes slightly better than valliant...perhaps next time though...

Hmm, loads to catch up on here...
Andy: All are perfect, youre in :)
Dan: Yep, thats fine, all allowed in now. :P
Steve: ...yep :proud:
Paul: Its a bit more complicated than that, will PM you about it on ZED.
Rich: Thanks for that, all entries accepted now.
Matty: Yep, spot reserved, along with my right to bug you about it later :proud: but if you need any help with batteries just ask and Ill see what I can do.
Elliot: If anything, those are massively underweight vapours...Skullcrusher in particular could do with some changes, its got thin armour, no srimech and a weak weapon when theres enough room in the design to beef up all three without going overweight. Youve avoided the main pitfall of being massively overweight though, so good on you for that. :)
Id suggest you post those on the How Could I Improve Pt 2 thread for more advice, or email me and Ill be happy to help (even with all this entry sorting :P) but provisionally theyre allowed.
JAck: Yep, all fine now
Shane: Yep, all fine :)

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
CHANGES TO THE KILL POINT
One: Forget the aluminium, titanium will do. 3mm thick if allowed. Replace the spike with a drill, powered by a Bosch motor. No reinforcement armour
CHANGES TO SKULLCRUSHER
The claws (Which are vertical) and powered by a hydralic system running at 1000psi (If allowed). It is now invertible, and there are spikes at the back. If the claw is no longer usable, the tactics will be to ram robots with the spikes. Upgrade the armour to 2mm steel
If I have gone overweight, please tell me. Joker and Nightstalker, I take it, are still allowed?
Also, here are some other weight robots
Superheavyweight: Disector
Middleweight: Middleweight Robot (Stats Later)
Featherweight: Sons of Thunder (Stats Later)
Antweight: Little Nipper
Lightweight: Lightweight Robot (Stats Later)
I do apologize if the names seem boring. Sons of Thunder is named after the spinoff of Walker: Texas Ranger
Please notify me should any of the robots be overweight or underweight. Im not good with weight, since Ive not much experience with roboteering (I did build one robot once, but it was based on an RC car. Its on the scrapheap now)
See you later:)

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Right then :)
Main Competition
1:
Robot Name: Brutalis 2.1
Shape: Like Dantomkia, but with the sides wedged at 42* and rear and the front chisels are now hinged. The front wedge itself is angled at 42* to deflect spinners, but the chisels will easily get under most opponents
Weight: 100kg
Length: 70cm
Width: 70cm
Height: 15cm
Motivation: 2 x go-kart style wheels, internally mounted near the front of the robot to prevent wheelying. They are mounted on a slant like Tazbot to help manoeuvrability and are right up against the sides to take up less space
Drive: 2 x LEM-130s at 48v
Batteries: 6 3600mAh NiCad Battlepacks at 48v
Armour: 5mm hardox monocoque for the whole robot, this is possible and in weight due to the small size of the robot
Weaponry:
1)Front hinged flipper, powered by 1 x 1.5kg co2 bottle and a single 120mm ram at 145psi. This allows it to have 20-25 flips per fight (due to the low pressure) and easily flip any heavyweight competitors, even with bonuses. It wont be throwing them around, more tipping them over and rolling them around although quickly. It runs for the full length of the robot and reaches over the back to make a Toro-style tongue at the rear. This tongue doesn€™t actually touch the floor, as the robot would be grounded if it did, but it rests on the skirt and points downwards so that if a robot goes up the skirt they go onto the flipper, and as it is sloped they will be thrown over easily. This allows it to flip robots from the front and back
2) Mute-style barbs on top of the robot. There is one strip on each side of the robot and one on the flipper, making three in total
3) At the front of the robot there are tungsten spikes on either side, these allow the robot to spin and act as a thwackbot. Each spike is 7cm long
Top Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: Effectively 0 at the front due to the wedge, 0 at sides and rear due to skirts, behind the skirts there is 8mm of clearance
Turning Circle: 0
Srimech: The flipper will easily spring the robot back onto its wheels
Colour: Black all over, but the flipper is red and the skirts yellow
Strengths: Powerful drive/flipper combination, very manouevrable, hard armour,
Weaknesses: LP flipper, not HP like it was previously
Notes: Plenty of shock-proofing
2:
Robot Name: The Subjugator
Shape: Box with skirts all the way around
Weight: 150kg/200kg (see armour)
Length: 90cm
Width: 90cm
Height: 35cm
Motivation/Drive: 4 x hardox legs with vulkalon rubber feet, they are each actuated by two 10 bar 32mm pneumatic rams from a 5kg tank, they are not visible as they are internal
Armour: 4mm hardox (8mm with 200kg rule)
Weaponry: An 80cm long hardox arm on a 360 degree turret spun by a Bosch 750 watt motor at 36v. On the end of the arm is a large vertical claw, it has two prongs on the top and one on the bottom that goes between the top two when the claw closes (like Mr. Psycho). The prongs are all tungsten tipped and the claw is drilled with several speed holes, the claw is actuated by hydraulics at 3000psi from a vivoil pump powered by a LEM-130 lynch motor at 36v, they can be cranked up to 5000psi if the tournament allows it and can crunch through 4mm hardox when at 3000psi, look out if it€™s at 5000! The arm can move over 180 degrees via a LEM-130 at 36v to flip opponents and slam them onto the ground
Speed: 8mph, pretty fast for a walker
Turning Circle: In the centre of the robot€™s base armour there is a 20cm x 20cm circular section that extends to below the robot via another 10 bar ram, but this one is 400mm and takes the gas from its own 1.1kg bottle, once on the ground the circular piece of armour rotates in the direction which I want the robot to go via a Briggs & Stratton E-Tek at 48v.
Ground Clearance: 20mm all round, protected by 7mm titanium torsion sprung skirts, held together at the corner s by 5mm hardox hinges
Srimech: The arm can right it in any direction
Colour: Black, with red and gold claw and the name written in white
Strengths: Heavy, unpushable, good weapon
Weaknesses: Comparatively slow turning
3:
Robot Name: LockJaw Epidemic
Shape: An Axlebot with the wheels on the outside, a scoop in the middle and two vertical claws, on one each side in between the wheel and the scoop, there are large parasol-shaped armour plates to protect the wheels from the side
Weight: 100kg
Length: 65cm
Width: 110cm
Height: 30cm
Motivation: 2 x go-kart style wheels coated in vulkalon for grip
Drive: 2 x LEM-130s at 36v, 18HP, powered by 4 x NiCad battlepacks
Armour: 4mm hardox all over, but the skirts are 5mm titanium and the scoop is 1cm titanium
Weaponry:
1)The scoop in the middle, it is made of 1cm titanium
2)The claws operate in unison and are powered by Litton Motors at 36v. They have serrated edges and are drilled full of speed holes. They reach out slightly further than the scoop to get a good grip
Top Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: Effectively 0 at front due to scoop, and effectively 0 at sides and rear due to hinged skirts that flop over when inverted, they are attached with hardox hinges
Turning Circle: 0
Srimech: Invertible, flipping it does nothing at all
Colour: Gold claws, silver wheel hubs and scoop
Strengths: Original weaponry
Weaknesses: Weapon requires precision
Notes: Heavily shock-proofed
4:
Robot Name: System Shock V: Hex
Shape: Box wedge with sloped sides, the front wedge is angled at 60* to flip opponents and the sides are angled at 42* to deflect spinners, the front wedge has a 3cm long extension with a Firestorm-style blade, this extension is angled at 30* to get right in underneath opponents, then ram them so they get flipped by the main 60* wedge, it also has a Tornado style angled rear
Weight: Depends on setup, can gain a 10kg bonus because of the tracks in some setups
Length: 65cm
Width: 85cm
Height: 15cm
Motivation: 4 x CNC Aluminium internal, but invertible wheels, they have a v-belt groove in the treads and a v-belt between the wheels so they count as tracks, but if they break the robot is not affected at all and the robot simply becomes a wheeled robot, leaving the tracks behind. For certain opponents the tracks can be removed leaving it with just wheels, but if the tracks are removed the decision can be taken to add vulcanised go-kart tyres
Drive: 2 x LEM-200 lynch motors running @ 48v (:lame:)
Batteries: 250 C-Cell NiCad batteries
Armour: 4mm hardox monocoque, with 6mm in key areas
Weaponry: As before the robot is primarily a rammer, but again it has some interchangeable weaponry;
- 50cm diameter titanium horizontal spinning disc, with 10cm long hooked blades that are part of the disc itself so they can€™t be ripped off from their own impacts. When attached this is situated on top of the robot itself, and the blades reach just over the top of the front wedge and the rear, but it will do the most damage if an opponent goes up the wedge. The tracks/wheels are higher than the disc, so it can still run inverted with this setup. The disc is spun by a LEM-130 lynch motor at 48v, and weighs 15kg, so can reach top speeds of 3000rpm in just 2.5 seconds. Kj count to come. This disc also feeds kinetic energy to the drive via a clutch, so the kinetic energy stored in the disc can be used for 45mph slams against other robots, which with the robot€™s front wedge is enough to throw robots out of the arena Storm II-style.
- A Tornado style cage can be fitted around the robot to keep crushers and axes at bay. Each of the 4 bars (one from each corner of the robot) is 70cm long and the bars are joined up by a square on the outside. Very few axes and no crushers will be able to reach the robot with this protection. The cage is made from tungsten carbide bars, so is essentially unbreakable by other robots. On the front of the cage will always be fitted the horizontal disc from setup 1, like Tornado had the spinning blade.
- The drum is back! Now spanning a massive 75cm in width and being made of titanium with its own teeth it spins upwards to 3000rpm in 2.5 seconds courtesy of a LEM-130 lynch motor running at 48v. It is connected to the wedge, so the robot still has 0 ground clearance at the front with this setup. It weighs 15kg and is chain driven, so can reversed if the robot is inverted
- A concave scoop made from 10mm hardox, perfect for stopping horizontal spinners or full body spinners. It is also lifted by 2 powerful linear actuators to lift opponent€™s wheels from the floor
- The €œclassic€ setup. The front wedge is thickened by 6mm hardox and actuated by an S28-150 magmotor at 24v, so it can work both ways up. Not including the cage with disc this is the only setup that works identically both ways up, as even the drum has to be reversed.
Speed: Can be pushed to 28mph, but mostly kept lower for more control (about 17mph). With kinetic energy boost it reaches 45mph very quickly. The motors are geared towards acceleration so it can reach top speeds very quickly.
Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at the front, 10mm the rest of the way around, but that is protected by 5mm titanium hinged skirts at the sides and rear that flop over when the robot is inverted
Srimech: Invertible
Colour: Grey, with yellow eyes and the name written in yellow on top. See the image for colours of the different setups.
Strengths: Speed and Power
Weaknesses: Some people will be cheesed off by this clear exploitation of the weight advantage given to tracks

MW:
Robot Name: Zero
Shape: Cylinder, ala Daisy Chopper
Weight: 54kg
Length: (including disc) 65cm
Width: 70cm
Height: (including disc) 35cm (without disc) 10cm
Motivation: 6 x 4mm hardox wheels at either end, 12cm in diameter, external and invertible, exposed but protected by two tungsten carbide bars at either end. There are 6 wheels because they are mounted in a triangle like Trident from RW3

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
When abouts are you intending to start this up? If I enter Tengu, Darkestar, Slammer and Achilles for now, and if you start writing this after my deadline Ill hopefully be able to get a revised Darkestar up before then, if not, the old one will have to do...
Same goes for otherweights, but they are obviously lower priority.

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Checking of others...
Liam: Zero has inadequate batteries, but I think theres just enough weight left to assume it has enough.
SLAM! on the other hand has 60v LEMs, which although you dont like the rule is against the 48v nominal limit. :lame:
Other than that, all entries are okay.
Elliot: Voltage of the motors and thickness of the armour is kind of needed, but otherwise fine. *inwardly cheers at finding another Bottom fan*
Lewis: Mostly good entries, few issues with 60v LEMs here and there though.
Alex: I want to start it as soon as possible, but I can shuffle heats around so the revised Darkestar doesnt have to be in straight away. When is your deadline btw?
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
I might as well enter, but I need time to check my entries.

The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Heres my lightweight entry! :proud:
Robot Name: Vincent
Dimensions (L x W x H): 60cm x 40cm x 25cm
Shape: Box with sloped sides and a rounded back.
Colour: Fluorescent green with a yellow flipper.
Weight: 27kg.
Drive: 2 x S28-150 MagMotors running at 24v, powered by 24v NiCad batteries.
Top Speed: 10mph maximum.
Wheels: 4 x aluminium wheel hubs coated in Vulcalon.
Armour: 4mm aluminium monocoque.
Weapon: A CO2 powered flipper, powered by 2 x 40mm bore, 60mm stroke ram. The gas is contained in a 1.1kg CO2 fire extinguisher and is contained at 850psi. According to Martijn€™s calculations (thanks, Marti!!), the flipper can hoist a maximum of 317kg (that€™s nearly 12 times it€™s own weight!) at the tip of the flipper, and potentially throw a lightweight robot into the atmosphere! :proud: The flipper is made from 5mm Aluminium checker-plate and resembles Atomic€™s flipper from series 7.
Turning Circle: 0m
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front, 8mm at the back, 2mm at the sides.
Srimech: Flipper.
Mega thanks to Martijn for helping with the pneumatics calculations! :proud:

Read any 60v as 48v Joey :)
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
As it is, I think the end of the week starting the 12th...
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
For 60v Ill follow Lewis and just turn it down to 48v
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
Was going to enter the new Apocalypse in this, but seen as it isnt finished yet, hasnt been checked in the How Can I Improve and has very low ground clearance wouldnt be suitable for the gauntlet
-
The Chevron Championship Series 2 - Medium Medium Speed Ones
The armour on Sons of Thunder is 1mm thick to keep it within featherweight weight limits. A 24v Bosch drill motor will be the drive motors on both parts if such a thing exists
Bottoms armour is 2mm thick and also powered by 24v Bosch drill motors (Again, if they exist)
If you want any info on 259, Joker and Nightstalker, type in either the following on Youtube (I just type these in)
Robot Wars USA Joker (First Video)
Robot Wars Extreme Warriors (First Video)
Robot Wars Middleweight (Fifth Video on list)
Joker: Noble County, Indiana, USA
Nightstalker: Yuma, Arizona, USA
259: Essex, UK
My robots: Jersey
See you later. Does anyone still want to enter FRFFT: Series 2?
