Velocirippa RIP
Velocirippa is now dead, due to the fact that I have cut up the old chassis.
The good news is the best bits are now the base for the new heavy - meggamouse. Pic on profile - still a bit to do yet, outer plates are timber so I know how much metal to order.

Velocirippa RIP
trevor i will miss our battles now. but well done mate you have evolved it into something that looks like it will be a force to be recond with. really look forward to portsmouth now.
again nice one pal :) :) :)
-
Velocirippa RIP
haha i knew youd do it one day:)
-
Velocirippa RIP
Ahh RIP Velocirippa it will be sadly missed.
The new one is looking good though, when do you reckon it will be finished by?
-
Velocirippa RIP
Aiming for Portsmouth, it is on schedule, but that is assuming everything works first time.
I will miss Velocirippa, but I wont miss the cold nights in the shed making new lids, or the itchy arms for days after events.
Shane, it will be just as much fun fighting Envy, meggamouse will be a lot like Velocirippa but less complicated drive and weapon systems, so should prove more reliable.

Velocirippa RIP
Shame, Velocirippa was a firm fan favorite to me ever since I saw it first in the series 3 football.
-
Velocirippa RIP
So Glad uve made the MeggaMouse, I remember you mentioned it a while back and it does look awesome.
now how bout an antweight version :)
-
Velocirippa RIP
every one will miss velocirippa but not more than me we had some great battle some win some lost but meggamouse look good
p.s does that mean i am at of a job as button man
-
Velocirippa RIP
Meggamouse, so even bigger ears to get stuck on? :)
I will miss Velocirippa, I think lots of smaller fans will do as well. It was always a very colorful robot.
-
Velocirippa RIP
Meggamouse rocks !!!
About time too !! :)
John
-
Velocirippa RIP
Looking good Trev! Seems like a scaled up version of the featherweight?
-
Velocirippa RIP
The featherweight is competitive John so why not stick to a proven design.
Shane - if I get round to fitting a buddy-box I will need a button man again.
The original Velocirippa became Mighty Mouse after its meeting with disco-inferno way back in RWExtreme 1. I still have the original lids so it could live again - it was my favourite machine, the artwork always turned heads - and it got me onto the tele when the machine was rubbish.
It means killing Mighty Mouse though........
Perhaps a poll on the forum - Old Velocirippa or Mighty Mouse - over to you.........
Trev
-
Velocirippa RIP
Well Meggamouse will be continuing the mouse theme in the heavyweight category so rather than have Mighty Mouse and Meggamouse my vote is for bringing back the old Velocirippa :)
The artwork was always, well, a work of art :P
-
Velocirippa RIP
stick to your new robot trev and just have the one for now. see how it goes and if you feel like you need 2 robots then build next year. put all your efforts into megamouse is my advice it will rock and roll dude
-
Velocirippa RIP
yeah, concentrate on the new one, but dont get rid of the mouse.
10 fingers, 10 toes, thats 20 votes for keeping mighty mouse!!
:)
-
Velocirippa RIP
only so u have something to swing round the arena jonno you nasty man! lol
-
Velocirippa RIP
thought id but in and say you should keep mighty mouse so that you have the complete mouse family lol
-
Velocirippa RIP
Yeah, absolutely Trev. Im really looking forward to see the new Mouse in action- I vote to keep Mighty Mouse as well though. Just to drag you OT for a moment; looking at the pic of Meggamouse on your profile it seems to be standing on one of those scissor-jack trolleys. If so, where did you get yours and is it any good? I had to lift Ka-Pow! off and onto the bench a couple of times earlier in the week and even with the ram and batteries out of it, I wish I hadnt...
-
Velocirippa RIP
John, you can get them from RS,there well good we would have one but for the price they cost i just make my dad get a back ache
on the rs website search for hydraulic scissor tables
i just did a quick look on google and one for £225 came up, http://www.midlandpallettrucks.com/prod ... p?id=14420

Velocirippa RIP
My vote is to replace MM with Velocirippa. To me in the sporting world, anyway it seems that If the insided are still okay, that most people would prefer to see the old legends than the newcommers. I mean I always remember Velociripper more than MM for the most greatest Goals in RW soccer history. And who wouldnt pay to see these fights:
Razer Vs Hypnodisk
MM/Velociripper Vs Onslaught
Cassius 2 Vs Chaos 2
Sir Chomealot Vs Plunderbird 5 II
-
Velocirippa RIP
Mighty Mouse vs Onslaught? Not impossible, but Onslaught is retired- unless you can convince Woody otherwise...
-
Velocirippa RIP
ive been trying for about 2 years
-
Velocirippa RIP
Ive suggested it a couple of times, but as Alan has noted, it wasnt designed to take on modern flippers and get dropped from 5 feet in the air. Team loyalty perhaps, but much as I like and respect Trev and his robots I think Onslaught would still usually beat Velociripper or MM if driven well- so not by me obviously! Megga Mouse might well be a different matter of course...
-
Velocirippa RIP
Onslaught has ...as I recall... tangled once with Velocerippa during a melee at http://www.teamtornado.co.uk/wils2000.htmWilsons
-
Velocirippa RIP
Woody - not as many holes as Dantomkia, it was like 2 dozen corned beef style curls of metal.
It would be great to see Onslaught again, Woody, we were the only ones to have car steering then and you helped me no end, for which I will always be grateful.BTW you should grow your hair back like it was, when you had it cut I was talking to you for 1/2 an hour before I realised it was you! - I kept thinking who is this bloke? he seems to know me
John - the scissor lift was from Machine Mart, mine was my Xmas pressie from the wife. I wanted the smaller one but she bought the 500kg one instead - it weighs that as well - it is too heavy to lift in and out of the shed so that is where it is staying. I think the smaller lift retails at £175+vat. What I like about the lift is with it being on wheels, when I am not working on it, it is pushed in the corner out of the way, and when I am working on it, it is in the middle of the shed and I can walk all around it.
You are correct that Onslaught would beat the old Velocirippa, it had a starter motor for drive and was always burning out relays and on hard fights the insulation on the battery leads would ignite. Despite what Woody says Onslaught would give most machines a good fight, and there is now an extra 20kg - from the old 80kg - to beef up the armour.
MM or Velocirippa - I cant make up my mind. MMs lid is squashed flat c/o THz and it may be easier to fix the holes in old Velocirippas lids. Anyway, nothing is going to happen unti MeggaMouse is finished.

Velocirippa RIP
My hair was a bit extreme back then :).. BTW Onslaughts weight after the rule change was/is 99.8 kgs with gas.
Will I ever rebuild it ... I dont know.
My personal circumstances prevent me attending 95% of events and the incentive is therefore some what lacking.
-
Velocirippa RIP
I spent Wednesday fiddling with ants for use with local demo etc (publicity stuff) Ive turned an old Z car into a mini Onslaught Im not the first i know but this one has the twin lift like the newer version of onslaught had.
We all loved Onslaught well I did at least proberbly why i like the mouse so much
-
Velocirippa RIP
I saw meggamouse tonight..... we all better watch out, theres some serious work going into it !!!
:)
-
Velocirippa RIP
We are very sorry to hear that Velocirippa wont be coming out to play anymore, we really did enjoy flipping him :talker:
although i am wondering if Megamouse will be as good at flying, and why Megamouse as a name?? why not Danger Mouse
Anyway, looking forward to the new robot, and i hope you installed wings or a parachute... you never know when you need them:-)
-
Velocirippa RIP
mabee dtk will be needing wings :)

-
Velocirippa RIP

better fit some wings i tell you. !!!
-
Velocirippa RIP
Swanny, thanks for the advice on the wings, im sure when we fly round the arena with them youll regret it though, and have you ever thought about installing a parachute.. i hear they save lives:lol:
and thanks for the compliment on the picture although hubba hubba isnt that a bit old.... but then i guess that shows your era
