Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
verdanaarialhelvetica>+1>Did you watch Robot Wars and think: I can design something better than that! ?
courier newcourier>+1>Did you cry in disbelieve when a Judges Decision went the wrong way?
arialhelvetica>+1>Do you want the chance to put your best Heavyweight designs amongst the best realies out there?
+2>WELL LOOK NO FURTHER: ITS VAPOURBOT VENGEANCE!
Thats right: once and for all you can see how well your precious little designs would face if they truly existed, in the context of an actual series of Robot Wars!
Your vapourbot will randomly replace one of the competitors from series 7 of Robot Wars, and fight for the right to be crowned Robot Wars Champion and pocket a cool £20,000 top prize.*
*THIS DOES NOT EXIST!!! :proud:
Da Rules
€ I am looking for up to 16 people to enter 1 vapourbot each.
€ The vapourbot must be your own design.
€ Robot Wars 7 rules apply for weight (100kg for wheels and tracks, 150kg for shufflers, 200kg for true walkers).
€ Active weaponry is compulsory - just like Robot Wars 7.
€ Clusterbots are allowed, and the 100% rule will be enforced.
€ Please enter stats neatly, or provide a link to them. :)
€ At the end of your post, please select from the following:
Melee 1 OR Melee 2
A number between 1 and 4
Tournament Layout
The tourney will be done exactly the same as series 7 of Robot Wars.
HEATS (X 16)
- ROUND 1 = 2 X 4-way melees, 2 through from each
- ROUND 2 = 2 X head-to-head fights with the survivors
- ROUND 3 = 1 X head-to-head fight with the survivors
SEMI-FINALS (X 2)
- ROUND 4 = 4 X head-to-head fights with the Heat winners
- ROUND 5 = 2 X head-to-head fights with the survivors
GRAND FINAL
- ROUND 6 = 2 X head-to-head fights with the Semi-Final qualifiers
- ROUND 7 (FINAL) = 1 X head-to-head fight with the two surviving robots.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------
I am pretty sure that is everything you need to know about sign-ups and structure. Now onto the actual tournament. As stated earlier, you will be replacing real robots with your vapourbots. This will be done randomly, with your melee choice and number deciding where you go in a certain heat.
For Example: If I enter ReserveBot into the competition, and put Melee 1, robot 2 at the end of my post, then I will replace the 2nd robot listed in melee 1 of a random heat. Easy, right? :proud:
Due to the amount of battles and lack of time I have after the Summer holidays, I will only be concentrating on writing battles for the vapourbots. Any battles that contain real robots will be made into hypotheticals, and will be exactly as how they happened on Robot Wars 7. If, however, two real robots fight and they did not fight in Robot Wars 7, I will write a hypothetical battle based on who I think will win.
I hope to start this tournament by the end of the week, so if I can have as many entries as possible by then that would be great. :proud:
All that leaves me to say is€¦
+2>GET ENTERING! :proud:

Oh my. :proud:
Reserve me a spot, please Danny. :proud:

Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
Hooray!
In the spirit of RW7s flipper fetish, Ill enter the indefatigable Wedge Devolution!
Wedge Devolution
SHAPE- low wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- sleek and shiny silver
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 75cm X 30cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front, 7mm for the rest of the robot. Fitted with Biohazard-style skirts on sides and rear, giving 0mm
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- As usual, the main weapon is a rear-hinged flipper. This is very similar to Chaos 2, except the blade at the bottom is bent ala Bigger Brother, allowing the flipper to have greater effect against bots with skirts or low centres of gravity. The flipper itself is powered by 2 X 80mm high pressure pneumatic rams, each running at 250psi. This should allow Wedge Devo to comfortably flip up to 1 tonne.
SRIMECH- The flipper can right the machine easily and the rear wedge should hopefully prevent a Chaos-style self-flip. Also, Wedge Devo is equipped with a grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent it getting stuck on its side
NOTES- flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, fast, manoeuvrable, difficult to get underneath, tough armour, good traction
WEAKNESSES- could prove a bit tricky to control, limited CO2 (like all other flippers :P)
http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/7555/wedgedevolutionza6.pnghttp://img166.imageshack.us/img166/7...olutionza6.png
Ill pick Melee 2, Robot 2 of whatever Heat Im in, please. :)

Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
Name: Disco 5
Shape: Low Wedge with small rear wedge
Motivation: it now uses four storm 2 style Vulcalon wheels
Speed: 12.5 Mph
Weight: 100kg
Height: 300mm to top of body, 600mm to the top of the disc
Length: 1300mm
Width: 600mm
Weapon: 500mm Vert. flywheel @ 3000rpm. Has a 4.00 second spin up time due to the C40-500 Magmotor on 36v with a 2:1 twin tension cog belt reduction. The flywheel produces 31.5Kj€™s at maximum RPM but is lethal at around 1 second. The second weapon is also the srimech, this weapon is a low pressure pneumatic flipper running on 10Bar (145psi) running into a single 80mm bore ram. This produces 509kg at the ram and is then transferred into the flipper with a leverage point ratio of 1:1. This is a forward facing flipper like FireStorm and will have no problem toppling the heaviest of robots.
Chassis: 4mm Grade 5 Titanium monocoque with extra 5mm Titanium ribs to give it more rigidity.
Drive: 2 x S28-400 Magmotors @ 36v with a 10:1 Mod 2 spur gear reduction
Batteries: 90 x 3000mAh NiCD cells producing 36v @ 9amp
Color- the robot and skirts and flipper are blue and the disc is yellow
Clearance- it has 0mm at the front due to the wedge it has 0mm at the sides due to skirts its 6mm with out it also has a 0mm at the rear due to the small wedge which is there to replace the problem of the skirt being flipped into the disc. The skirts are NOT hinged and held down by torsion-springs so they shouldn€™t spring up and the rear one shouldn€™t go up into the disc
Notes- The flywheel is at the back off the robot it goes over the back of the wedge so if I can get a robot up the wedge far enough it will be hit by the disc. The shape of the robot stops it from landing on its side.

Yes, thats right, I will be entering this tournament (its too good to miss! :proud:). However, I will not be writing my own fights, and not selecting my robot: that is up to you guys! I have created a poll on the ZED forum for you to pick which robot will represent Team BriteSpark in this tourn. Please be nice! :proud:

Thanks for entering, Chris and Chezza. :proud:
For my sanity, heres Axe-O-Lotls stats, taken from the How To Improve Thread.
AXE-O-LOTL
Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: Comengetorix
Speed: 20mph
TC: 0
GC: 6mm
Wheels: 4 inner
Armour: 3.25mm Hardox all around.
Power: Same stuff as Storm 2 and Cyclone Force uses.
Colour: Has interchangable panels. One set is pure black, the other pure white with pink tinges.
Weapons: A very nasty pneumatic axe, with the power of Dominator 2. The head is diamond tipped, and the whole weapon is VERY persistant. It can fire about 40 times in one fight.
Srimech: The axe rights the robot. The robots body is designed so it cant be side stranded.
Inspiration: My favourite amphibian, the axolotl.
Strengths: Powerful weaponary
Weaknessess: Obviously a limited CO2 supply.

Walk Don€™t Run 3
Shape: Disc Shaped
Weight: 110 kg
Armour: 6mm Hardox for the ring, 3.5mm Hardox for the top and bottom
Dimensions: 89 X 89 X 20
Drive: 4 Shuffling Pads with 6 Legs with vulkalon rubber
Batteries: 5 X 24V NiCad BattlePacks
TC: Zero
Top Speed: 13 mph
GC: 3.8mm
Weapon: A 32kg Spinning ring with 2 X 2kg Hypnodisc style teeth, but more larger and more curved, Spinning at 2200RPM powered by a 36V LEM-130, has an absolute buttload of shock proofing inside to stop it from self-destructing.
Srimech: Its Invertible
Strengths: 360 degree Killing zone, EXCEEDINGLY DESTRUCTIVE!!!!!!, If anything happens to the spinning ring, it can use a Storm 2-style tacitc: RAM TO DEATH
Weaknesses: Almost invincible, but does not like flippers, although invertible

Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
You forgot the numbers, Samuel
-
Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
Also, Sam, shuffing robots do not have a weight advantage, meaning that Walk Dont Run 3 is 10kg overweight.
Maybe a reduction in the armour (4mm Hardox instead of 6mm) will be enough? As soon as alterations are made, I will be glad to accept your entry. :proud:

LEM130 running on 36v powered by 24v battery packs ;-) I think you meant 36v packs. Also, what motors power the drives? 4 shuffling pads and 6 legs? sounds rather odd, is it a walking shuffler, or a shuffling walker :proud:

Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
I think its in-weight, but he forgot to change the 110 to 100 - hes done that before in E.O.T.R.4, but Ive just let it pass.
And WOOT! Liam has returned!
-
Vapourbot Vengeance Series 1
Well it doesnt say which motors Sam uses for manouvre, so i cant determine with 100% certainty whether it is or isnt in weight. But Ive added the numbers up and i think it has a good chance of being in weight if he doesnt go overboard on the drive motors.
The top and bottom of add up to 33 kg, the ring another 17.5 kg, so theres already half the robot in weight.
The Lem 130 is 3kg, the batts (if its 36V) 12.7kg, another 15kg for frame inside (monocoques are out of the question with ringspinners), then i come to about 81kg. that should be enough for drive.
