Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, my friends, my enemies, my peers, and Frank Goacher, to the Enjoy The Violence tournament.
I know I havent got the perpetually delayed Chevron Championship finished yet, but I am starting this now for a number of reasons:
1) It may help me get back the motivation to write again, which is something I have gained and lost repeatedly in the past week or so.
2) The way this section is progressing right now, it will take me at least until I finish TCC before I have enough entries to get this going.
3) I have a considerable amount of free time and jack all to do otherwise
4) Given the efforts of certain other people over the past months to maintain two tournaments at once, I figured I cant do much worse. :proud:
Anyway, this is a simple knockout tournament, going from 16 80kg classic heavyweights to one through four rounds of one-on-one battles. The arena is heavily based on the UKRW series 3 arena, sans the spikes and the arena flipper.
THE PIT IS ALWAYS OPEN FOR THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS, AND IS THEN CLOSED FROM THE SEMI FINALS ONWARDS. REMEMBER THIS.
I require eight people to enter two classic heavyweights for this contest. The usual rules apply as to voltage, gas pressure, etc. and I will be checking entries for overweightness and physics anomalies.
Clusterbots are allowed (max. 4 parts)
You may only enter one realie. Your team can be two vapours, or a vapour and a realie, but not both realies. Basically, I want to encourage people to design 80kg vapours.
For vapourbots, the weight limit is 80kg for anything except true walkers, which are 160kg subject to approval.
For realies, if it was in the main competition in series 2-4 and weighed over 80kg, you may enter it, since I know the limit wasnt necessarily strictly enforced back in the day. NO realies from extreme 1 or later unless they weighed under 80kgs, and the person who enters BARRY from series 1 will be banned from the tournament for an indefinite period of time.
And yes, Joey is having a go at designing house robots for this. There will be four, and their details will be revealed when it is time. (i.e. whenever I finish writing them)
I think that should be all. Get entering!
ENTRIES LIST:
1: (reserved for Liam since he is yet to get a new account but I know he had robots designed for this)

the person who enters BARRY from series 1 will be banned from the tournament for an indefinite period of time
Can I ask why? Ive always liked the look of BARRY, and although Im not planning on entering anything, therefore it shouldnt really matter to me, curiosity has got the better of me :)
Was it drastically overweight? Or am I missing something here?
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
It was drastically overweight :proud: It weighed more than the house robots did in that series, about 117kg.

TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 15mm without skirts, 0mm with
ARMOUR- 3mm Grade 5 titanium

NOTES- flies Scotland flag, inspired by the gut-burstingly hilarious Half-Life badfic of the same name
STRENGTHS- weapon synergy, excellent pushing power, great acceleration
WEAKNESSES- untested, wheels vulnerable to overhead attacks
Ill hopefully get a pic done for it tomorrow. :)

Lets see... I have no idea how in weight this is, but someone will undoubtedly tell me if its not, incidentally I just took baldurs stats as a reference so if there is anything from there left over please point it out.
Weapon ZED
Weight: 80kg
Shape: Thin skirted box like biohzard, but has a square base rather than a rectangular one. The front is however rounded out so that it doesnt have corners.
Diemnsions: 90cm x 90 cm (base) x 28cm height
Mobility: Drive on a skid steer, uses a skid steer system with 4x 10cm diameter wheels.
Motors: 2x Lem 130s at 46volts
Speed: 17mph
Turning circle: 0m
Armour: 7mm Titanium in a single pressed piece that is bolted onto the chassis at 15cm intervals everywhere it touches the chassis. The bolts are rounded to decrease chance of beign caught on something. The chassis itself is similarly constructed of titanium.
Ground clearance: The front is 0mm while around the sides its about 5mm.
Weapons: Similar to biohazards weapon except the mechanism is a hardox bar with a hooked spike at the end so it functions as a lance as much as a lifter. The bar has a rhomboid profile so that at its thickest it is 30mm (although with weight reducing holes. Its powered by pnuematics at 400psi. The weapon rests under the top of the front wedge most of the time so it can hook under robots and carry them round, or push a foe against a wall and stab it.
Srimech: Weapon functions in the same way biohazards does to self right.

LMAO :proud:
One problem, LEMs dont run properly at 46 volts. :proud:
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
I believe that was part of the vestigial baldur stats..... hmmm.... Ill change it to 36v.
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
Looks alright, only problem I can see is that Biohazard couldnt self right after it had the skirts fitted...nothing a suitable large spike on top of the lifter wouldnt cure though.

What say I give you the names of Bad Temper Jr and Shadow, then I get the stats up later.

Your names are accepted...Marti? AJ?
(one of Andys entries is Le Nez, for peoples info)

I got something for ya...
Fox in the Box
Shape: See picture, but basically it works as an invertible box. The fact that the rear is slightly concave should help against opposing horizontal spinners
Colour: BLACK!
Speed: 15 mph, can be geared up to 20 mph
Weight: 80kg
Armour: 7mm titanium on the sides, 5 mm top and bottom
Drive: 2 Mag 28-400 thingies at 24 V or so
Power: 2 NiCad Battlepacks for the Mags and another 3 for the weapon
Motivation: 2 titanium wheels with rubber glued on them
Ground Clearance: 0 mm at the rear (the disc being the front) up to 5 mm under the front
Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 85 x 85 x 15
Weaponry: A massive titanium flywheel, weighing 15 kg and powered by a LEM 130, it spins at 2500 RPM
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: It€™s a disc!

Thank ye, Marti.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, I present...the LINEUPS!
Iris vs. Bad Temper jr.
Junkyard Mawler vs. Shadow
DownFall vs. Weapon ZED
Chaos 2 vs. Delta Rex
Full Life Consequences vs. Wrath Of Fangorodrim
Bambi vs. Cassius II
Mortis vs. Diva
Le Nez vs. Fox In The Box
Your predictions, tactics, and comments are welcomed, as always. :)
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
I predict 8 robots will win and 8 robots will lose :proud:
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
Junkyard Mawler vs. Shadow
Dunno at this point. Just flip it around, I guess. Aim for OOTA.
Full Life Consequences vs. Wrath Of Fangorodrim
Bwahahaha, perfect, just the kind of bot I wanted to face. :proud: Good luck trying to get any type of hold with my curvy shape, Mr. McG. Basically attack from anywhere, the claws should be able to get a good hold in. Dump him somewhere nasty, or the pit if theres one.
Saying just the kind of bot I wanted to face isnt going to make Joey make me lose on purpose, is it :proud:
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
Come on, I dont make people lose :proud:
All I do is alter their odds of winning somewhat...
-
Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
Hooray for line-ups!
CHAOS 2 VS Delta Rex
Avoid the front and get under that 8mm ground clearance at the sides. I assume from its stats that Delta Rex has flat sides, so Ill throw it onto its side ala Chaos 2 VS Steg 2 and leave it for dead. Then Ill have a dig at the House Robots. :proud:
FULL-LIFE CONSEQUENCES VS Wrath Of Fangorodrim
The key to victory here, I think, is Full-Lifes superior traction. Fangorodrim may have Tazbots manoueverability, but Full-Life has Tornados pushing power and acceleration. The main plan here will be to avoid the front, get around the sides or rear and grab on for dear life. The claws and saw will hopefully do some damage to the titanium and polycarb shell, or at least get a darn good grip. Dump it in the Pit ASAP and have a nibble at the House Robots. :proud:
EDIT: Even if the claws cant get a grip on it, I can still push it all over the shop.

Tactics:
Delta-Rex v Chaos 2
Keep flipping, over and over. I can knock my myself back over with the flipper if he does manage to beach on my side (I hope). Hell run out of gas to self-right before I do.
Bambi v Cassius 2
Drive in, grab, lift, pit :proud:
Good luck everyone :)

My computer decided to crash yesterday, perminantly. I suggest you be very patient.

I suggest, seeing as youve been on the forum since then, that you post your stats by next Wednesday, or I will be forced to invite entries from others and redo the draw.

Enjoy The Violence - 80kg Tournament
Ive been having MAJOR computer (and specifically, internet) troubles recently. Anyway, Ive got the stats for Bad Temper Jr now. IF I dont get Shadow done, just replace him with a random real robot.
BAD TEMPER JR
Weight: 80 kilos
Body Shape: Rectangular, long and low. Similar dimensions to Tornado, but not invertible.
Speed: 12mph
TC: 0
GC: 7mm
Wheels: 4 inner
Armour: 6mm titanium
Power: 3x 12v batteries, powered by S28-400 Magmotors, at 24v...the usual.
Colour: Red underbelly, black sides, grey top, white weapon.
Weapon: Pneumatic knife blade, powered by CO2. Theres about 40 odd hits in it. Basically, it looks like someone stuck the blade of Overkill onto the axe arm of Dominator 2.
Srimech: The weapon goes that.
Notes: I have a little Lego model if you need pictures.
Strengths: Persistant.
Weaknessess: The arm is fairly long, so it has to be a distance away to work effectively.

...you DO know that whatever realie Joey chooses will probably be crap, right? :proud:
