The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Back in 2003, there were many tournaments, each with their own distinct style. The VFT and PTT tournaments got much praise, but there were other tournaments that were completely unique. These were called the Class League, and the Virus League. These were open tournaments, in which there were many writers, and each contributed their own style of writing to them making those two tournaments quite diverse.
5 years later, this tournament opens to honour them...
THE FIGHTING VAPOURBOTS ASSOCIATION LEAGUE
A tournament thought up by Kody Kunz and Andrew Jackson. :proud:
THE RULES
1. This tournament is going to be very big, and because many people are going to be writing it, me and Andy will be competing as well. Well need many vapourbots:
Main Event - 16 people to enter:
8 heavyweights
1 superheavyweight
1 middleweight
1 lightweight
1 featherweight
1 antweight
House Robots - 12-16 people, depending on circumstances
1 house robot
All-Stars - 16 people
2 heavyweights
Challenge Belt - 8 people
1 heavyweight
1 featherweight
Tag-Team Terror - 8 people, tag your own vapourbots together
2 heavyweights
Mayhem - 12 people
3 heavyweights
Vengeance
8 requests
Flipper Frenzy - 4 people
1 flipper heavyweight
Axe Attack - 4 people
1 axe heavyweight
Disco Dance - 4 people
1 disc heavyweight
Crusher Crunch-Up - 4 people
1 crusher heavyweight
House Robot Rebellion - 4 people
1 anyweight :proud: (nothing above superheavyweight though)
2. Explanation of all the events...
Main Event - self-explanatory. 16 heats, 2 Semi-Finals, one Grand Final.
House Robots - enter these to deal out punishment to the losers in all the events! 3 will be randomly chosen for the House Robot Rebellion later on.
Other-weights - Included in the main event. 2 4-way Round 1 battles, 2 Round 2 battles, a play-off then the Final, for each.
Extreme - all below are to take place between Semi-Final 2 and the Grand Final:
All-Stars - 8 4-way Round 1 battles (which eliminate 3 bots a battle), 2 Round 2 matches, play-off, then final.
Challenge Belt - First one to enter takes the belt, and is challenged by the ones who entered after him/her/it, one-by-one. Three victories in a row earns that bot a permanent belt.
Tag-Team Terror - Enter 2 of your vapourbots as a team. 4 Round 1 battles...yeah, you get it.
Mayhem - 12 Round 1 battles, 1 bots goes through to an annihilator, two annihilators...yeah, you get it as well. Same as Extreme 1.
Vengeance - Call for matches you want revenge on! Can be any weight! Even house robots can take part!
Flipper Frenzy, Axe Attack, Disco Dance, Crusher Crunch-Up - self-explanatory as well. :proud:
House Robot Rebellion - Any weight bot can compete here...just not above super heavyweight. :P 3 house robots will be randomly chosen to fight against.

4. The writing system
We are not going to force a set limit number of battles on people, so people can any number of battles they want. That doesnt, of course, mean you can write the entire tournament. You should NOT write your own battles or write a battle that conveniences your vapourbot. However, the heats and other battle line-ups (except Vengeance and the specific weapon match-ups) will be done via the Random Sequence Generator.
5. Weight bonuses and weaponry issues
100kg for wheeled and treaded bots
110kg for tracks
150kg for shufflers
200kg for TRUE walkers
Passive weaponry is allowed
Clusterbots are allowed, max of 5 parts though. No 50% rule; all the clusterbot parts have to be taken out for a KO.
Interchangeable weaponry is allowed, however no more than 5 set-ups allowed.
6. Final message
Get entering!!! :proud::proud::proud:

The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
I dont do other-weights, but if its compulsary, Ill enter them.
-
The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
It is, but Id actually like to see you try and make some other-weight vapourbots, Paul, instead of having to resort to realies.
and of course I wont be entering a realie antweight...uh, nope! Not as far as you know... _
-
The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
OK, lets see....
Heavyweights
Orka MK4 (All Stars, Mayhem)
Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus (All Stars, Flipper)
Cyclone Force 3 (Challenge Belt)
Leprosy Infection (Tag Team Terror, Mayhem)
Mega Masher 2 (Disc)
Axe-O-Lotl (Tag Team Terror, Axe)
Obliteration (Rebellion)
Spring-BOK! (Mayhem)
SuperHeavyweight
Bad Temper
Middleweight
Tom
Lightweight
Little Big Bot 2
Featherweight
Wrangulator (Challenge Belt)
Antweight
Itty Bitty Irritator
House Robot
Die-Ro
Ill come up with stats for BT, LBB2 and IBI as and when. If I cant, Ill have to resort to realies.
I havent entered the Vengeance battle because I dont like making the first move. And I havent entered the Crusher battle because, ironically, the only crusher on my team since removing Cyclone Forces claws is Little Big Bot 2...my lightweight. The closest to a claw on my Heavyweights is Orkas...but I dont think another Mantis-equse scenario is going to work.

The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Hmm... I would enter this... But I cant write.
Sigh...

The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Heavyweights
Door Stops
Shape: A two part cluster bot, each part is an invertible wedge. Kinda like a door stop:proud:. The backs are rounded to prevent being beached.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 40CM X 30 CM X 20 CM
Armour: 4 MM hardox for the front 20 CMs, 5 mm grade 5 Ti for the rear 20 CMs
GC: 0 at the front tip, raising to 1.5 CM at the rear.
Weapon: Static wedges at the front.
Drive: 2 large internal wheels towards the end of the robot, powered by LEM 130€™s at 36 volts, which if memory serves should provide 18 HP.
Srimech: Invertible.
Linking method: One part has a clip on the rear, the other has an €œeye€ The two pieces can fight as one when clipped together, and with some good driving, the two can reunite in the middle of battle. Admittedly this would take awesome skills, but admittedly I am awesome.
Strengths: Good front armour, designed for taking on spinners, it€™s a cluster €˜bot.
Weaknesses: Not so wonderful back armour, could wheelie due to high acceleration, it€™s a cluster €˜bot.
ISDSFA
Shape: Similar to Behemoth.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 70CM X 60 CM X 40 CM
Armour: 3.5 mm hardox, reinforced to 5 mm around the wheels. Scoop is made of 5 mm hardox.
GC: 0 mm at front, 1 CM everywhere else covered with 3 mm ti side skirts.
Weapon 1: Electric scoop, powered by linear actuators. Should be able to lift around 250 KGs.
Weapon 2: Small flywheel, giving around 8 KJs per hit. This is hidden behind the scoop. Once a robot is raised, this is extended to strike the base of the victim, with the aim of attacking wheels.
Drive: 4 wheels, driven by Lem 130s.
Srimech: The scoop, and Behemoth style side arms.
Strengths: Good pushing power and able to attack a robots drive directly.
Weaknesses: Spinner pretty much useless against armour.
Masamune
Shape: Barrel shaped, with a 20 CM long wedge at the front, with a sword blade extender. More on this a little later.
Speed: 15 MPH
Size: 80x50x25 CMs (LWH)
GC: 3 CMs at the sides and rear, 0 at the front.
Armour: 6 mm Hardox all over except for a 5 mm Ali baseplate. With the exception of the wedge, the barrel is made out of one sheet of hardox so there are no plates that can just be torn off.
Weapon: Retractable sword lifter. The sword blade can be extended 15 CMs out from the wedge to allow it to get under any spinner safely, or it can be retracted to extend only a couple of CMs from the wedge to allow it to lift with more control. The actual moving part s the wedge, which is powered by two linear actuators and should be able to lift around 200 KGs. It can also be lowered slightly, causing the sword to dig into the floor slightly resulting in it being able to get under even 0 GC wedges and skirts. The actual sword blade is made from 5 mm grade 5 Ti.
Drive: 4 internal wheels with vulkanised tyres, powered by two S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volts.
Batteries: 4 packs of 24 volt NiCads.
Shrimech: The rollover barrel shape. If it gets stranded against a wall, it can use the sword to push itself away.
The May Tracks Has You
Shape: Like Comengetorix. It has a wedge extender to give it 0 mm at the front.
Speed: 20 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh A): 85CM X 45 CM X 24 CM
Armour: 4.5 MM hardox.
GC: 0 mm at the front, 6 mm everywhere else, covered by skirts made of 3 mm Ti.
Weapon 1: Rear hinged flipper, powered by two pneumatic rams at 500 psi.
Weapon 2: Upward facing spikes on the wedge. A robot can go over them, but if it tries to reverse, say goodbye to your tyres. By wedging a robot then reversing suddenly, TMTHY can impale the tyres, then fire the flipper to do loads of damage. Even a robot with stuffed tyres will be limping after that.
Drive: Inner tracks, powered by Lem-130€™s at 24 volts.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Weapon synergy. Once The May Tracks Has You, there is no escape.
Weaknesses: Axe/flipper combos could take the tracks out.
Sakura
Shape: Shaped like a closed cherry blossom, sort of conical.
Speed: 12 MPH
Dimensions(dh): 90X30 - diameter taken from the widest part of the machine, it gets narrower as it goes up.
Colour: Let€™s just say it€™s a shade Bex would approve of:proud:
GC: 1 CM
Turning circle: 0
Weapon: Team Bored€™s first true FBS clocks in with a 50 KG FBS shell, spinning at 1500 RPM and powered by two LEM 130s on 36 volts, which should give a nice fast spin up time. There are four hardox teeth, painted and shaped to look like leaves. These are razor sharp to give a nice slice, and they€™re also barbed to catch and rip opponents. I can only estimate the power output due to the shape not being supported by the energy calculator. This clocks in between 90-100 KJs.
Weapon 2: Humiliation. Who wants to admit they just got beat up by a flower?:proud:
Armour: 8 mm hardox for the spinning shell, 5 mm Polypropylene for the base.
Drive: 4 wheel drive, powered by two S28-400 Magmotors on 24 volts.
Srimech: There€™s a hole at the very top of the cone, out of which a blunt self righting spike can come up. This is powered by low pressure pneumatics. Due to weight constraints, it can probably only self right about ten times.
Features: Near the top of the cone are holes. These aren€™t just for reducing weight, as each hole leads to a small aluminium box which is full of pink confetti. As the shell spins, this should be strewn out, allowing Sakura to fight in a cloud of cherry blossoms.
Tempest Evil-est-oution
Shape: Ring spinner.
Speed: 12 MPH.
Dimensions(dh): 80CM X 25 CM
Armour: The spinning ring is 1.8 CMs of Ti. The base and top are 1.5 CMs of polycarb, giving a total armour weight of around 63 KGs.
GC: 1 CM.
Weapon: Ring spinner powered by two Lem 130s and spinning at 1000 RPM to deliver 83 KJs per hit. The four hardox teeth are 10 CMs long with two being placed near the top and two near the bottom.
Drive: 2 wheeled, driven by S28-400 magmotors.
Srimech: Invertible.
Notes: Has an absolute buttload of shock proofing inside. Everything is firmly bolted down, with layers of rubber between everything. Added to that, the teeth have a backwards curving shape which maximises the distance it will throw itself away from the opponent. The reason is twofold. First is to make ramming and flipping it difficult, but the main reason is to bleed away kinetic energy backlash, by using that backlash to move the robot externally rather than internally.
Strengths: Hits hard and is hard to hit. Not much is getting through the armour.
Weaknesses: Should the spinner fail, it€™s pretty much screwed.
The 6isc
Shape: Too complicated, apparently. See picture in the vapourbot images thread.
Size: 60X110X60 CM (LWH)
Weight: ~100 KGs
Speed: 10 MPH.
Ground clearance: Under the wheel protectors, it€™s 5 mm.
Weapon: 26 KG spinning disc, powered by one LEM 130 Lynch motor and going at 2500 RPM. The disc is shaped with its own teeth rather than needing teeth surgically attached to it, so dentistry is quite impossible. The energy output is 36 KJ€™s which, while modest by vapour €˜bot standards should still be enough to make a mess of things.
Wheels: 6 wheels, but four wheel drive. This has three wheels on either side arranged in a triangular fashion, so it only runs on four at a time. The wheels are 1 CM solid Ti with soft compound rubber wrapped around them to provide shock resistance, and a layer of Vulcalon wrapped around that to provide traction.
Chassis: The main chassis consists of one solitary 1 CM thick 4 mm box section hardox bar. Slotted over that is a secondary axle, inside which are the batteries. There are also two other triangular chassis€™ supporting the wheels. These are made from 4 MM 1 CM box section Ti bars with weight reducing holes.
Armour: The true axle and chassis is a 4 MM hardox bar. The battery axle is 2 mm aluminium. The semi circular wheel protectors and side spikes are 5 mm Hardox. The disc itself is 14 MM of Hardox 500, and the outer axle is 4 mm grade 5 Ti.
Srimech: Totally invertible. Controls won€™t even have to be reversed after flipping, meaning it can just go straight back on the attack.
Drive: 2 S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volts.
Strengths: The newest version of The 6isc does away with as many weaknesses in The Disc 5 as I could find.
Weaknesses: Weak armour in places. Can€™t use axe attacks.
One more Heavy to come, and some other weights. Ill have to get designing.
House Robot

when youre on it Matt, something along the lines of Riptile would be nice :proud:
-
The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Whoa€¦ great response, thanks everyone! :) Time for a few points:
1) Although unnecessary, some songs for vapours would be nice
2) Yes, we would like everyone to enter as many events as they can
3) Danny, you are still more than welcome to enter, even if you do not wish to write - we aren€™t going to force everyone to write, but we would like it if as many people as possible got involved with the writing process. We want this to be a joint forum effort. However there is no rule as far as I€™m concerned as to how many battles people can write.
4) Frank, yes, I believe it is perfectly fine to enter robots that are not in the main competition into the side events. Also, what exactly is your House Robot Rebellion entry €œ4 people€
5) Realies are allowed in this competition, but I don€™t encourage them€¦
6) Good to see you back Matt!
7) Joey, the superheavyweight limit is 145kgs - weight limits are as follows for those unsure:
€ Antweight: 0 to 150 grams
€ Featherweight: 1kg to 13.6kgs [2.2lbs to 30lbs]
€ Lightweight: 12kgs to 27.5kgs [26lbs to 60lbs]
€ Middleweight: 27.5kgs to 55kgs [60lbs to 120lbs]
€ Heavyweight: 55kgs to 100kgs [120lbs to 220lbs]
€ Super heavyweight: 100kgs to 145kgs [220Ibs to 320Ibs]
8) All reservations and entries so far noted, good to see Liam back after whatever happened also. Unfortunately, many people have missed out on some of the side events. Perhaps we can arrange to increase the size of some of the events to accommodate€¦ I have tried to type up a list of who has entered and reserved a place in what http://teamcode14.proboards24.com/in...board=fvaenter

If there are any places left in any of them, that is. :lame:
STATS:
1. Wedge Devolution
SHAPE- low wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- sleek and shiny silver
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 75cm X 30cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front, 7mm for the rest of the robot. Fitted with Biohazard-style skirts on sides and rear, giving 0mm
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- As usual, the main weapon is a rear-hinged flipper. This is very similar to Chaos 2, except the blade at the bottom is bent ala Bigger Brother, allowing the flipper to have greater effect against bots with skirts or low centres of gravity. The flipper itself is powered by 2 X 80mm high pressure pneumatic rams, each running at 250psi. This should allow Wedge Devo to comfortably flip up to 1 tonne.
SRIMECH- The flipper can right the machine easily and the rear wedge should hopefully prevent a Chaos-style self-flip. Also, Wedge Devo is equipped with a grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent it getting stuck on its side
NOTES- flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, fast, manoeuvrable, difficult to get underneath, tough armour, good traction
WEAKNESSES- could prove a bit tricky to control, limited CO2 (like all other flippers :P)
THEME SONG - Im Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers
http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/7555/wedgedevolutionza6.pnghttp://img166.imageshack.us/img166/7...olutionza6.png
2. Killotine: EVO
SHAPE- compact box-wedge ala Storm 2, rounded back
COLOUR- red
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 70cm X 35cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front with spatula, 10mm at sides and back. Skirts at sides and back produce 0mm.
ARMOUR- 3.25mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the large pneumatic axe, composed of 3.5mm hardox. It is very similar to that of Killerhurtz and operates with a rack-and-pinion system like Terrorhurtz. Running on 160psi, the axe runs off an 80mm X 20mm ram and stores its gas in a 2kg main bottle and 1kg buffertank. If anything goes wrong with the axe, Killotine can use its great pushing power to simply ram its opponents to death.
SRIMECH- The axe. Even if it€™s already been fired while flipped, the axe can right itself ala Killerhurtz. Also, just like the original Killotine, the machine has a rounded back and a red semi-sphere on either side of robot to stop it getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to Tom, Aaron & AJ for helping with the design
STRENGTHS- Fast, dangerous weapon, good amount of traction, difficult to get under, quick srimech, nice and fast
WEAKNESSES- so-so turning, limited gas supply
THEME SONG - Shopping for Blood by Franz Ferdinand
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/8806/killotineevocw0.pnghttp://img511.imageshack.us/img511/8...tineevocw0.png
3. Spin Dash Unleashed (formerly Metal Sonic Spin Dash)
SHAPE- skirted box, with rounded sides and back.
COLOUR- dark blue bodywork, with red-and-white striped skirting.
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 75cm X 20cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm all round, 10mm at sides and rear without skirts.
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
MOVEMENT- inner, 6WD
POWER- 2 x LEM-130s. These run at 36v and produce approximately 18hp.
WEAPONS- A horizontal Pussycat-style saw blade on the front. The blade is mounted on the underbelly ala Code:BLACK and is designed to chew up skirts and wheels. It is powered by an S28-150 Magmotor and runs at 3000rpm. Its 18hp and shape also makes it an excellent battering ram.
SRIMECH- invertible. The rounded sides and rear also prevent it getting beached.
NOTES- flies Scotland flag.
STRENGTHS- excellent traction, fast, tough armour, low weaponry, invertible
WEAKNESSES- untested, so-so manoueverability, saw blade less effective upside-down
THEME SONG - Sonic Boom from the Sonic CD soundtrack
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5359/spindash6ta1.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5...indash6ta1.png
4. Whirligig 4.5 (sort of formerly Whirligig 4.0)
SHAPE- flat disc
COLOUR- gold with Mauler-style scary face on top. The face shows the direction of the robot.
WEIGHT- about 100kg (see bottom)
DIMENSIONS- 101.6cm diameter X 12.7cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm
ARMOUR- 1.905 cm thick Grade 5 titanium
FEET- inside robot, uses 4 DrillZilla-style shuffling plates. These help prevent the bot being flung halfway across the ring on contact with another bot, ala Typhoon
POWER- 2 X S28-400s running on 36v. Uses 120 X NiCad cells at 36v, producing 12amps at 36v overall for drive and weapon power
WEAPONS- The main weapon on Whirligig is the spinning outer ring, fitted with 9 x Pussycat-style claws. The spinner is powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v. It can reach speeds of 1000rpm and produce up to 100kJ...more than enough to kill another bot at full speed.
As well as this, the power in the shuffling feet mean that Whirly can act as a pretty powerful pusher if the shell fails to work
SRIMECH- the robot is invertible and the blades prevent Whirly landing on his side
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, my first properly calculated machine
STRENGTHS- fast, manoeuvrable, very deadly weaponry, tough armour, scary face shows its direction, very good traction, cant be flung away on impact as easily as Typhoon
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability, feet may prove vulnerable to crushers and axes
THEME SONG - Die, All Right! by the Hives
WEIGHT CHECK:
armour = 33.72kg (inc blades)
chassis, mounts, bracing etc = about 30kg
drive and weapon motors = 12kg overall
NiCads = about 15kg
feet = about 10kg overall
TOTAL WEIGHT = 100.72kg. Fits right into the roller limit, with the 1% error margin rule. Probably.

5. E Clawdius Unum (formerly Clawdius Decimus Murderous)
SHAPE- skirted wedge with small box section and rounded back
COLOUR- deep green with red shield emblazoned on the wedge, depicting a gold lion with a crown
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 95cm X 70cm X 40cm
SPEED- 14mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 0mm at sides and rear thanks to skirts (arranged in a Biohazard fashion, corner-to-corner), 10mm without
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors
WEAPONS- The main weapon, as ever, is the hydraulic diamond-tipped crushing claw. It is powered by a Vivoil pump with an 80mm x 40mm ram, with a 2kg tank for storing the hydraulics. The claw runs at 3000psi and, aided by the diamond tip, should be able to leave plenty of holes in another robot.
The front wedge also features a Firestorm-style blade and two flat spears to aid in getting under the opposition. The wedge itself is now home to several Mute-style barbs to help ensnare other robots.
SRIMECH- A rear-hinged pneumatic arm on either side, powered by a pair of linear actuators. The rounded rear also prevents the robot getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, et tu, Brute? written on the underbelly
STRENGTHS- Quite nippy, good traction, powerful weapon, difficult to get underneath, fairly quick srimech
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability
THEME SONG - Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1801/eclawdiusunumor1.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1...iusunumor1.png
6. Turbo Tails
SHAPE- short box with front wedge, sloped sides & rounded rear
COLOUR- yellow with the foxs face looking particularly evil on the front slope
WEIGHT- approx 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 75cm X 25cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- approx 0mm at front (titanium blade), 8mm everywhere else
ARMOUR- 3.5mm monocoque Hardox, with 2mm yellow fur over that.
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors. Can produce approximately 12hp.
WEAPONS- Tails chief weapon is the horizontal spinning blade. Now mounted on top, its a bit heavier than before and has Fluffy-style heads instead of the old hammers. Its powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v and has top speeds of around 2500rpm, so its definately just as deadly as before - if not, more so!
The front wedge also hosts a forward-hinged flipping arm, powered by an 80mm x 20mm full-pressure CO2 ram. The arm operates at 750psi, giving it a fair bit of oomph, and stores its gas in a 2kg main bottle. Capable of just over 30 fires per fight.
SRIMECH- The flipper. Sloped sides and rounded rear also prevent it getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ
STRENGTHS- weapons synergy, touger armour, fast, fairly compact, greater pushing power
WEAKNESSES- not quite as manouverable as before, flammability, wholl take it seriously?
THEME SONG - Believe in Myself from the Sonic Adventure soundtrack
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7952/turbotailslongered5.pnghttp://img84.imageshack.us/img84/795...slongered5.png
7. All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve a Dull Boy
SHAPE- reverse wedge with scooped front, sloped sides and slightly boxed back
COLOUR- blue
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 75cm X 45cm
SPEED- 14mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at front, 10mm at sides n rear without skirting, virtually 0mm with skirting
ARMOUR- 3.5mm monocoque Hardox all over
WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors. These will run at 36v and produce approximately 12hp.
WEAPONS- The weapon synergy you know and love is back. The main form of attack this time, however, is the large flipping scoop at the front. This is powered by 2 x 39mm Dia high-pressure rams, giving flipping power equal to that of Mute. OOTAs galore!
This is accompanied by the ol pneumatic axe, forward-facing and mounted on the scoop mechanism ala Behemoth...except it aint pneumatic no more! A bit smaller than previous versions, the hammer is powered by a 36v LEM-130, providing about 2kJ per whack and almost infinite blows. No bad, eh?
SRIMECH- the scoop can easily right the robot (hopefully, the axe can, too). Also, a single spike on either side will hopefully prevent it getting beached
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, scoop and hammer can be activated together or separately
STRENGTHS- Weapon synergy, tough armour, very good traction, nippy, skirted
WEAKNESSES- So-so manouverability?
THEME SONG - 40 Ft by Franz Ferdinand

8. The Botles Reunited
IS A 4-WAY CLUSTERBOT!
SHAPE- all parts are boxes with hinged skirts at the sides and rear (John€™s are shaped slightly differently, so they don€™t interfere with the weaponry)
COLOUR- John €˜Geddon (B1) = yellow with pink skirts and weaponry
Paul McHurtney (B2) = blue with grey skirts and scoop
George Harassment (B3) = red with light grey skirts and weapon
Ringo Scarr (B4) = pink with gold skirts
WEIGHT- round about 25kg each
DIMENSIONS- about 60cm X 40cm X 22cm each
SPEED- 12mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 6mm all over each (minus skirts), 0mm at sides and back each (with skirts) (John€™s are shaped a slightly different way, so when they flop over, they don€™t interfere with the axes)
ARMOUR- 3mm titanium
WHEELS- inside robot, 4 wheel drive
POWER- 2 X S28-150s each
WEAPONS- For this incarnation, John has kept his front hinged wedge (giving him virtually 0mm at the front), but this time, he has a pair of Splinter-style side axes for grabbing and penetrating opponents...he€™s €œreally got a hold on me€Â
George is probably the most drastically altered of the Fab 4. Only 2 of his front spikes remain from his last appearance. All the rest have been ditched to make way for a horizontal spinning blade with two hammerheads stuck on for good measure. Beware of €œMaxwell€™s silver hammer€Â
SRIMECH- all parts are invertible and the skirts prevent any member getting beached on his side
NOTES- fly Scotland flags, the colour scheme comes from the Beatle€™s outfits on the cover for Sgt Pepper€™s Lonely Hearts Club Band
STRENGTHS- multiple parts, each part is fast and quite manoeuvrable, much improved weaponry, tricky to get under, pretty good traction for lightweights
WEAKNESSES- weak armour, each segment is very light
THEME SONG - With a Little Help From My Friends by the Beatles
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5399/thebotlesreunitedzi7.pnghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5...eunitedzi7.png

The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
NAME- Wedge 3mm (AW)
SHAPE- low box with front wedge (very similar to Mute)
COLOUR- light grey
WEIGHT- about 150g
DIMENSIONS- 8cm X 5cm X 3cm
SPEED- 40cm per second
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, about 4mm at the sides and rear to aid manoeuvrability
ARMOUR- 1mm polycarbonate, with 2mm for the front wedge (just in case )
WHEELS- inside robot, 2 X 30mm wheels
POWER- a NiMh 4.8v battery with 9g HS-55 servos
WEAPONS- The main weapon is a broad flipping arm with Chaos 2-style front plate attached (bent at the end ala Bigger Brother to aid in slipping under other bots). The arm is top-hinged (ala Tsunami, Chaos 2 etc) and is powered by Lego pneumatics at 100psi.
The whole set-up weighs 36g, including the 15g ram, 3g pneumatic Lego switch, 15g aluminium pressure tank and 5g servo to activate the switch. This should be able to flip other Ants about 10cm up and about 15cm forward!
SRIMECH- flipper, rounded back, 1 little grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent getting stuck on its side
NOTES- wee flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag, just a scaled-down version of Wedge 3 (in case you hadn€™t noticed! )
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, tough armour, fast, manoeuvrable
WEAKNESSES- could be a bit tricky to control, lack of skirts, iffy traction
THEME SONG - Red Light Indicates Doors are Secure by the Arctic Monkeys
http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2463/wedge3mmzy1.pnghttp://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2463/wedge3mmzy1.png
NAME- T.R.E.D.T.H.A.L. (FW)
SHAPE- low box with sloped sides and rear and little Panic Attack-style skirts at the sides and back
COLOUR- light green, with purple lifter, angry gaping mouth behind the lifter and evil goggly eyes on either side of the axe
WEIGHT- about 18kg (extra weight advantage for my method of movement )
DIMENSIONS- 70cm X 50cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm for the front weapon, nearly 0mm at the sides and rear with skirts, about 5mm all round minus the skirts
ARMOUR- 3mm titanium monocoque body
MOBILITY- 2 X little inner tracks, similar in design to 101
POWER- 2 X 12v drills on 24v. The motors run off 2 X 24v 3amp packs, giving 24v at 6amps
WEAPONS- TREDTHAL uses two different weapons: the first is a lifter which is very similar to Atomic (the S5 version. Not the S7 one with the taller blade), but has a Bigger Brother-style spatula to aid in slipping under other robots. The arm is electrically powered and should tip a fellow FW over quite comfortably. The other weapon on top of the bot is a 180 degree forward-facing pneumatic axe, similar to Killerhurtz. The axe sits between the two arms of the lifter and the idea is that the weapons can work seperately or can be used together to become a lifter/clamper (ala Complete Control or Behemoth)
SRIMECH- Either weapon can quite easily self-right the robot, but the axe will be used most often, as it is much faster than using the lifter . Also, the wedges prevent the bot getting beached on its side
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, the name stands for Tracked Robot Especially Designed To Hammer And Lift
STRENGTHS- powerful weaponry, effective lifter/clamper system, quite tough armour, nippy, hard to get underneath, decent traction
WEAKNESSES- lifter slow at self-righting
THEME SONG - Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) by Pink Floyd
http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/5708/tredthaltm3.pnghttp://img245.imageshack.us/img245/5708/tredthaltm3.png
NAME- Minigig (LW)
SHAPE- low disc
COLOUR- bright yellow with Mauler-style face on top and bottom to show direction
WEIGHT- about 27kg. I hope.
DIMENSIONS- 60cm X 60cm X 25cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- about 5mm
ARMOUR- 3.2mm hardox for the shell and 3 mil polycarbonate for the rest
WHEELS- inside robot, 2WD
POWER- uses 2 X 18v drill motors at 24v for the drive, uses 24v at 6amp of NiCads for the main power supply
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the 6kg rotating shell. Equipped with 9 little Pussycat-style teeth (3 along the top, 3 along the middle and 3 along the bottom) and powered by a LEMCO-130 at 24v, the spinner can reach speeds of up to 1800rpm in about 3 seconds...should be enough to gut a few of the poorly armoured.
SRIMECH- the robot is invertible and the blades prevent Whirly landing on his side
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful weapon, fast, very manoueverable, tough armour
WEAKNESSES- could prove vulnerable to flippers, tricky to control
THEME SONG - The Unshockable by Maximo Park
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/9251/minigigjg7.pnghttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/9251/minigigjg7.png
NAME- Killoteeny (MW)
SHAPE- compact box shape with a front Storm 2-style wedge and a rounded rear
COLOUR- red
WEIGHT- about 50kg
DIMENSIONS- 80cm X 60cm X 25cm
SPEED- about 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 5mm at sides and back without skirts, 0mm at sides and back with skirts
ARMOUR- 5mm polycarbonate
WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
POWER- 2 X S28-150s, running at 24v
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the large 180 degree pneumatic axe, very similar to that of Killerhurtz, which operates ala a rack-and-pinion system like Terrorhurtz. Running on 160psi, it really packs more than a punch and can very easily self-right the machine.
Also, if anything should happen to the axe, then the robot can use the low wedge and great pushing power to resort to a Tornado-style tactic - ram to death!
SRIMECH- The axe. Even if it€™s already been fired while flipped, the axe can right itself ala Killerhurtz, aided by a rounded back. Also, the machine has a rounded back and a red semi-sphere on either side of robot to stop it landing on its side.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- Fast, dangerous weapon, good amount of traction, difficult to get under, quick srimech, quite good armour
WEAKNESSES- so-so turning
THEME SONG - Jet by Paul McCartney & Wings
http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/3106/killoteenytj6.pnghttp://img366.imageshack.us/img366/3...loteenytj6.png
Revolver (SHW)
SHAPE- box wi skirted sides and rear
COLOUR- painted like the infamous Yellow Submarine with portholes on the sides n that, with red hinged skirting and the cover for the album Revolver pasted on the top
WEIGHT- under 145kg, hopefully
DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 75cm X 28cm
SPEED- 18mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm all over without skirts, 0mm at sides n rear with em
ARMOUR- 6.75mm monocoque Hardox. Booyah.
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels and a little caster on top/bottom at the front for balance
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors, running at 36v (should give about 12hp, I think)
WEAPONS- The main weapon here is a large horizontal spinning disc at the front resembling an LP record. This is powered by an LEM-130 motor at 36v and runs at around 2500rpm. The flywheel bears two Hardox teeth (curved ala Pussycats), making it ideal for ripping into the other contestants. It could also charge at other competitors, get under them with the skirt and become a passive rammer should things start to get hairy.
SRIMECH- invertible
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful disc, fast, manoueverable, pushing power, invertible
WEAKNESSES- wheels exposed to overhead attacks, control could be an issue
THEME SONG - Helter Skelter by the Beatles
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2271/revolverpq1.pnghttp://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2271/revolverpq1.png
Scream (House Robot)
SHAPE- long wedge with slightly sloped sides with a boxy rear
COLOUR- Pale blue with a Scream mask painted on the wedge
WEIGHT- 150kg
DIMENSIONS- 140cm X 65cm X 50cm
SPEED- 15mph

ARMOUR- 8mm Grade 5 titanium
MOVEMENT - 2 inner wheels
POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors, running at 36v (should give about 12hp, I think)
WEAPONS- Scream is the weapon. The massive front wedge is really a rear-hinged pneumatic flipper, powered by 2 x 100mm bore, 180 stroke rams. Thats double the power of Gravity, baby.
Scream is also armed with a vertical spinning disc on the back. The disc has 2 teeth and is powered by an LEM-130 motor at 36v, running at over 2000rpm.
SRIMECH- The flipper can self-right Scream in spectacular style
NOTES- A high-pitched scream is played whenever the flipper is fired. Thanks to AJ for helping with the stats
STRENGTHS- fast, manoeuvrable, tough, weapon synergy, powerful main weapon
WEAKNESSES- exposed to other flippers, limited CO2 supply
THEME SONG - O Fortuna from Carl Orffs Carmina Burana
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/9449/teamcoldheart2007py6.pnghttp://img517.imageshack.us/img517/9...art2007py6.png

The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Charon
WEIGHT: roughly 500kg
DIMENSIONS: 145 x 110 x 45 cm
SHAPE: A coffin shaped wedge, similar to the S4 Gravedigger, or Undertaker from S3
COLOUR: Black, with silver trim, and a gold skull and crossbones on the front.
DRIVE: 2 Briggs & Stratton Eteks, run from 6 SLA batteries at 36 volts, geared for torque rather than speed, driving two large wide rear wheels with rubber belts for grip
SPEED: 7mph
GROUND CLEARANCE: 0 at front due to the wedge, rising to 50mm at the rear
ARMOUR: Welded Hardox monocoque construction, varying in thickness from 6 to 14mm, strengthened with cross beams in areas. The front wedge has a 3mm thick spring steel extender to make it low to the ground.
WEAPONS/FEATURES: Charons main weapon is a front hydraulically actuated 4-bar lifting arm, set into the left hand side of the front wedge, which has a hardened steel hydraulic cutting claw at the end which sits flush with the ground. The arm can raise about 5 tonnes to a height of 75cm, and the cutting claw has a force of 15 tonnes.
The secondary weapon is a rear 15kg 70cm wide drum, which spins at 2000rpm, belt driven from an S28-400 Magmotor running at 24v, which is primarily there to deter rear attacks.
As well as being a standard house robot, Charon can serve as a refbot of sorts, or can count robots out at least. Mounted in a partially exposed frame at the top right hand area of the wedge is a steel bell, struck by a spring loaded arm, whcih when amplified sounds suitably doomy. This comes into play when a robot is immobilised - Charon will drive over, illuminate the defeated machine with a very bright front retractable headlamp, and sound the bell to count them out (accompanied by the light turning red), and then will resume his standard house robot duties.
SRIMECH: Can self right using the arm, somewhat slowly. The sides have various long spikes to prevent him getting stranded.
NOTES: Components shockproofed to reduce damage from impacts. The hydraulics are driven from a 30cc 2 stroke strimmer engine to about 3000psi, which saves the batteries from draining too quickly.
STRENGTHS: Very strong armour, good pusher, weaponry effective
WEAKNESSES: Somewhat slow
House robot done, finally.

The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
I counted, and we have thirteen entries, assuming Matty keeps out of trouble and Martyn gets his act together :proud:
And on a completely different note, I just noticed the HRR, and it says any weight. Can this include Nanoweights? :P
(incidentally, Dan, last time I checked making spinner impact items out of bendy material was a bad idea)

Generally what we meant by any weight WAS any weight, but between antweight and superheavyweight.
Sorry. :proud:
-
The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Antweights are officially between 0-150g...Nanoweights are 25g max...nothing at all wrong with me entering a heavily underweight ant, is there? :proud:

Im not sure what you mean, Joey. Can you elaborate for me, please? :)
-
The Fighting Vapourbots Association League!
Im not 100% sure, but it seems bad to have the thing that is supposed to transmit lots of force bendy.

Thanks for pointing that out. Will redraft the vapour(s) concerned. :)

Ahem...
Due to the number of people who are trying to exploit the weight advantages... :P
House robots can weigh up to 500kg, but NO weight bonuses for shufflers, walkers or any other motivation than wheels.
In the house robot rebellion, you may enter a bot that is within the antweight and superheavyweight range (moot if its already filled, but... :P), meaning 150g-150kg, nothing under, nothing over. :P
Understood? :P
