German speaker to act as go-between?

I have ordered a Spektrum dx6 off ebay, good news.

Bad news, the guy is austrian. He does not take paypal, he wants a money transfer. I have contacted him to ask for his bank details and the reply was in german. I ran this thro babel and it said I had to go to a link on his e-mail, which I did. This linked me to ebay austria - in german - but the sign in page is the same, but my username and password are not valid. I e-mailed again but got the same reply. I spelled out the problem and ran that thro babel - into german - I have yet to recieve a reply.

I contacted ebay and they said that they would send the austrian my contact details - Doggghhh - it seems they cannot understand english either.

Is there anyone who can perhaps act as a go-between for me? hopefully I will not need anyone.

Watch out for UK Bank charges... If you go ahead ...they can be very high for IBAN / BIC payments.

Hmm what he states about switching mode 2 to mode 1 is actually incorrect. Not that it matters much for roboteers but the mixing would be wrong if you would do as he says.

There always seems to be a selection on the BMFA.

MODE 2 is I believe the Roboteers prefered option.

Mode 2 (throttle on the left up-down, self centering springs on the right stick) is by far the preferred option worldwide. Although some heli flyers prefer Mode 1 (throttle on the right) but I would probably crash in 2 seconds if I tried that. :)

Leo did not say someone could have your login details he was just saying that ebay as a big company and different languages of sites share the same login database so u can log in from anywhere in diff versions.

ye but what he said says that ebay have there username and passwords linked so if trev is logging onto ebay austria and its not logging in then hes either entering the wrong details in or the site might not be an ebay site?

i dont use ebay so i dont know what details you have to put in but as its a shop you need card details? so i wouldnt want anyone knowing my login details

Well the big problem might be, and this is a known fact, that lots of people use the same password for eveything on the internet.

So if they have your ebay password, there is a good chance they have your paypal password as well. And loads of people including me have their paypal linked to their ebay account (although I do keep seperate passwords :) ).

I never use it - signed up for it YEARS ago coz everyone else had one at the time, log in coz i get an email saying oh someone has added you.... meh. lol.

Id just be weary of any ebay user who does not want to pay via Pay Pal (other than cash on day or something.) Few times ebay users have been annoying so used Pay Pals insurance. - Long live pay pal. lol

You lot are giving me the willies, I will have to go with this as I have an ebay transaction number and I dont want a black mark against me. Woody says John bought one so he must be kosher. It is only 115.80 euros inc postage so it is worth a punt. Dont know about the bank charges but I bet they wont be cheap.

The fact he sent you with an email with a link for you to click on sounds dubious. Its a bit like those phoney bank emails that ask you to follow the link to check your account details. You click on the link and the page looks the same as normal but it actually serves as a false front, so that when you put in your details, youre effectively giving them to the crooks.

If it€™s any help I am buying a DX6 transmitter from a model shop in Milton Keens for £53.50 including battery and postage I don€™t know if they have any more but you could put your name down on the list The number is 01908 313142, they are called Al€™s Hobbies.

Als Hobbies have none of these left on line. That said at my local branch they have stacks of the Mod 1 version. These are going for £69.95 with servos and stuff (not sure why it should be different between branches).

The spring can be transferred across to the other side so itll work like normal. If you want one, let me know and Ill try and get one down to you at Guilford or I can post it.

They are changing mine to mode 2 for me:) so they may do this for you.

Guys, switching from mode 1 to mode 2 involves more than just moving the spring over. all the software has to be revised for mode 2 as well. Mixing, dual rate, exponential settings, servo reverse, all is affected when you do this. This can be done By Horizon Hobbies and Graupner if your TX is still under warranty. There are also some tutorials on the internet to be found on how to do this yourself but then warranty is of course void.

the rules regarding feedbakc are changing i thought, something about you wont be able to view the comments just the scores.

I found with Hydra that the contorls were basically the same, just different plugs to plug stuff into. As I have never used the mixing on the Tx I wouldnt know about that, but can see a bit of a problem. Also means the spare DX6s/DX6is arent fully interchangeable.

It may be that its ok for me because all im interested in is push button, does it go. may be a while before I get into the intracacies of all the other functions these have.

I have recieved a personal e-mail from someone who works for the modelshop - if that is what it is. Their rating is 99.7% and have a lot of feedback comments, so appear genuine, and they now realise I am not messing them about.

With my bank refusing to pay I have offered to send a cheque through the post, if they refuse then the matter is closed. Mind you I am having to run my replies through babel into german so my e-mails may be complete gibberish to them.

Woody - found the problem from that link. The bank is in a town called deutschlandberg, in Austria. My bank have misread this and think the bank is in Deutschland - so they are looking for german code letters.

Will still wait for a reply from them though, sending a cheque is cheaper than IBAN/BIC - £20 cheaper.
