Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
Due to Marks annoying streaks, I came up with a tornument that meant he COULDNT enter, but unforntunately means that people like Liam and Danny and few others cant enter (look at the entry rules). But here it is - the reason why Im opening the sign-ups for this is because the Annihilator is drawing to a close and if I open this up, then I can get sign-ups in quicker. So here is the...
EYE OF THE ROBOT - ALL STARS
The E.O.T.R tornumnent is having a bit of a rest, but due to the recent hypotheticals I€™ve been doing, I€™m doing a minor competition to keep me on task and keep me busy.
Many robots produced have a brilliant streak of winning, but wish is the best of all robots made to be the best by the best FOR the best?
Now for the arena:
The Arena
The €˜WreckTaGon€™ is a hexagon shaped arena with three starting squares, coloured gold, green and blue. Originally, it had very little in the way of hazards, and still does, but these are very deadly - we still have the flipping spikes, and we also have the impaling spikes, set in sets of 5 in each corner of the arena, each made of Hardox and designed to cause serious damage. The pit release button for this arena is located on the bottom right side of the arena, with the actual pit being a mere 1meter away from it. Added hazards include the saws mounted into the floor to throw other robots away, and vertical flywheels behind each starting square - they weigh 50kg and spin at 1200rpm, each giving 50kj each. The arena is indestructible, with the floor being made of 50mm Hardox, with 3mm of polished Stainless Steel over the top of that, making the floor impossible to damage and VERY SLIPPERY! The walls are also made of 50mm Hardox, and are 65cm high, giving everyone the ability to flip someone OOTA! The arena (from a birds-eye view) is 5metres down and 7metres wide.
The line-up is going to be like this
HEATS
8 x 4 way melles, 1 going through
QUARTER-FINALS
4 x 1 ON 1, FOUR ROBOTS GO THROUGH
SEMI-FINALS
2 x 1 ON 1, TWO ROBOTS GO THROUGH
PLAY-OFF
1 x ONE ON ONE
+1>GRAND FINAL
ONE ON ONE
The Entry-Rules
€ I need 8 people to enter 4 robots (They MUST be vapourbots, and each vapour must have AT LEAST 5 wins (Hypotheticals included) under their belts)
€ Wheeled robots must weigh a maximum 100kg
€ Shuffling robots weigh a maximum of 110kg
€ Walkers weigh a maximum 135kg
€ When you enter, give me your hometown (if outside of the UK, tell me the country as well), and a link for your robot stats, so I can find them!
The Judging System
Basically, Ive invented my own system - has 6 catogories, in which I mark out of 10. I then times that score in each section by how much the section is worth:
Dominance = ? x 6
Damage = ? x 5
Aggression = ? x 4
Stategy = ? x 3
Control = ? x 2
Style = ? x 1

Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
Ive got three robots that have 5 wins for definite (Fire And Ice/Phoenix Down, Nidhogg, and No Objections if you count the annihilator rounds its been in) and Gabriel II has four wins and possibly more since my maths isnt the best and its been a while since I updated the win/loss records...is that good enough? :proud:
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
If you include the Hypos, then it has 6 wins, so thats Joeys entries down.
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
Wedginator 6.0 (18 wins)
Super Gore Evo (7 wins, counting the ones from Robot SMASH just recently)
Tira III (7 wins)
Intriguing (7 wins)
You know where to find the stats.

Bummer! Ah well, itll be fun to predict anyway!
Good luck to everyone competing.
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
I know for a fact that Orka MK4, Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus and Leprosy Infection definately have five wins under their belt...and I think Axe-O-Lotl has as well. So theyll be my competitors.

I need to ask about Intriguing - I had a look at its stats and the CAD doesnt look right, as one side looks different to the other - is that intentional or accidental?
And I also need 5 more entrants: Martijn? AJ? Steven? Matty? Alex McW? Alex H?

What exactly do you mean? :P
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
It appears to be blobby on one side and just flat on the other...
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
Thats right Joey, is that an accidental error, or an intentional design feature?

meh, 32 robots, I trust you to do this without hypos Paul
presenting you...
Axe to Fall 2! 2 times major semi-finalist!
Back to Rock III! 1 major semi-final and 1 minor victory!
Flick of the Wrist! 1 major final, 2 challenge belts and 1 minor victory!
Sheer Heart Attack 2! 1 major victory!
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
I agree with you Liam - its something that the RobotsLive people do, as having 4 robots in 1 melle and only allowing 1 winner defeats the old lets team-up tactics. Usually, people have 4 way battles, but have 2 winners, mwaning that team-ups are possible. But having 1 winner means that team-ups wont be favourable, as youll have to betray them before they betray you, so that wouldnt work.
Im not AGAINST team-ups, but Im not FOR team-ups as a writer, as it means that battles are quite quick and its hard to write.
Martijn considering entering so I need 4 more entrants. If Martijn is entering, I need 4 more entrants, so if a few people can enter, thatll be awesome!
By the way Martijn, I NEED your entry for the Challenge Belt.

Sorry Alex, but I think that Slammer III retired years ago, and youre now on Slammer V. Do you mean Salamander III, or am I wrong?
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
I dont keep fight records, so Ill put in some safe entries.
The 6isc
Shape: Too complicated, apparently. See picture in the vapourbot images thread.
Size: 60X110X60 CM (LWH)
Weight: ~100 KGs
Speed: 10 MPH.
Ground clearance: Under the wheel protectors, it€™s 5 mm.
Weapon: 26 KG spinning disc, powered by one LEM 130 Lynch motor and going at 2500 RPM. The disc is shaped with its own teeth rather than needing teeth surgically attached to it, so dentistry is quite impossible. The energy output is 36 KJ€™s which, while modest by vapour €˜bot standards should still be enough to make a mess of things.
Wheels: 6 wheels, but four wheel drive. This has three wheels on either side arranged in a triangular fashion, so it only runs on four at a time. The wheels are 1 CM solid Ti with soft compound rubber wrapped around them to provide shock resistance, and a layer of Vulcalon wrapped around that to provide traction.
Chassis: The main chassis consists of one solitary 1 CM thick 4 mm box section hardox bar. Slotted over that is a secondary axle, inside which are the batteries. There are also two other triangular chassis€™ supporting the wheels. These are made from 4 MM 1 CM box section Ti bars with weight reducing holes.
Armour: The true axle and chassis is a 4 MM hardox bar. The battery axle is 2 mm aluminium. The semi circular wheel protectors and side spikes are 5 mm Hardox. The disc itself is 14 MM of Hardox 500, and the outer axle is 4 mm grade 5 Ti.
Srimech: Totally invertible. Controls won€™t even have to be reversed after flipping, meaning it can just go straight back on the attack.
Drive: 2 S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volts.
Strengths: The newest version of The 6isc does away with as many weaknesses in The Disc 5 as I could find.
Weaknesses: Weak armour in places. Can€™t use axe attacks.
Qualifications: Won a VFT tourney (I forget which exactly) and is a regular-ish semi-finalist.
Tempest Evil-est-oution
Shape: Ring spinner.
Speed: 12 MPH.
Dimensions(dh): 80CM X 25 CM
Armour: The spinning ring is 1.8 CMs of Ti. The base and top are 1.5 CMs of polycarb, giving a total armour weight of around 63 KGs.
GC: 1 CM.
Weapon: Ring spinner powered by two Lem 130s and spinning at 1000 RPM to deliver 83 KJs per hit. The four hardox teeth are 10 CMs long with two being placed near the top and two near the bottom.
Drive: 2 wheeled, driven by S28-400 magmotors.
Srimech: Invertible.
Notes: Has an absolute buttload of shock proofing inside. Everything is firmly bolted down, with layers of rubber between everything. Added to that, the teeth have a backwards curving shape which maximises the distance it will throw itself away from the opponent. The reason is twofold. First is to make ramming and flipping it difficult, but the main reason is to bleed away kinetic energy backlash, by using that backlash to move the robot externally rather than internally.
Strengths: Hits hard and is hard to hit. Not much is getting through the armour.
Weaknesses: Should the spinner fail, it€™s pretty much screwed.
Qualifications: Won an AJ Wars, vapourbot grand championships and is also a regular-ish semifinalist.
ISDSFA
Shape: Similar to Behemoth.
Speed: 15 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh): 70CM X 60 CM X 40 CM
Armour: 3.5 mm hardox, reinforced to 5 mm around the wheels. Scoop is made of 5 mm hardox.
GC: 0 mm at front, 1 CM everywhere else covered with 3 mm ti side skirts.
Weapon 1: Electric scoop, powered by linear actuators. Should be able to lift around 250 KGs.
Weapon 2: Small flywheel, giving around 8 KJs per hit. This is hidden behind the scoop. Once a robot is raised, this is extended to strike the base of the victim, with the aim of attacking wheels.
Drive: 4 wheels, driven by Lem 130s.
Srimech: The scoop, and Behemoth style side arms.
Strengths: Good pushing power and able to attack a robots drive directly.
Weaknesses: Spinner pretty much useless against armour.
Qualifications: Has been around forever, first as Soz Disc-connected then as IDSFA when I got a good connections and that joke didnt work any more... Must have won at least 5 fights, especially seeing it made it to a semi final.
The May Tracks Has You
Shape: Like Comengetorix. It has a wedge extender to give it 0 mm at the front.
Speed: 20 MPH.
Dimensions(lwh A): 85CM X 45 CM X 24 CM
Armour: 4.5 MM hardox.
GC: 0 mm at the front, 6 mm everywhere else, covered by skirts made of 3 mm Ti.
Weapon 1: Rear hinged flipper, powered by two pneumatic rams at 500 psi.
Weapon 2: Upward facing spikes on the wedge. A robot can go over them, but if it tries to reverse, say goodbye to your tyres. By wedging a robot then reversing suddenly, TMTHY can impale the tyres, then fire the flipper to do loads of damage. Even a robot with stuffed tyres will be limping after that.
Drive: Inner tracks, powered by Lem-130€™s at 24 volts.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Weapon synergy. Once The May Tracks Has You, there is no escape.
Weaknesses: Axe/flipper combos could take the tracks out.
Qualifications: Two times winner of Daves name changing series.

Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
1. Wedge Devolution
SHAPE- low wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- sleek and shiny silver
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 75cm X 30cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front, 7mm for the rest of the robot. Fitted with Biohazard-style skirts on sides and rear, giving 0mm
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- As usual, the main weapon is a rear-hinged flipper. This is very similar to Chaos 2, except the blade at the bottom is bent ala Bigger Brother, allowing the flipper to have greater effect against bots with skirts or low centres of gravity. The flipper itself is powered by 2 X 80mm high pressure pneumatic rams, each running at 250psi. This should allow Wedge Devo to comfortably flip up to 1 tonne.
SRIMECH- The flipper can right the machine easily and the rear wedge should hopefully prevent a Chaos-style self-flip. Also, Wedge Devo is equipped with a grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent it getting stuck on its side
NOTES- flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, fast, manoeuvrable, difficult to get underneath, tough armour, good traction
WEAKNESSES- could prove a bit tricky to control, limited CO2 (like all other flippers :P)
2. Killotine: EVO
SHAPE- compact box-wedge ala Storm 2, rounded back
COLOUR- red
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 100cm X 70cm X 35cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front with spatula, 10mm at sides and back. Skirts at sides and back produce 0mm.
ARMOUR- 3.25mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the large pneumatic axe, composed of 3.5mm hardox. It is very similar to that of Killerhurtz and operates with a rack-and-pinion system like Terrorhurtz. Running on 160psi, the axe runs off an 80mm X 20mm ram and stores its gas in a 2kg main bottle and 1kg buffertank. If anything goes wrong with the axe, Killotine can use its great pushing power to simply ram its opponents to death.
SRIMECH- The axe. Even if it€™s already been fired while flipped, the axe can right itself ala Killerhurtz. Also, just like the original Killotine, the machine has a rounded back and a red semi-sphere on either side of robot to stop it getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to Tom, Aaron & AJ for helping with the design
STRENGTHS- Fast, dangerous weapon, good amount of traction, difficult to get under, quick srimech, nice and fast
WEAKNESSES- so-so turning, limited gas supply
3. Whirligig 4.5
SHAPE- flat disc
COLOUR- gold with Mauler-style scary face on top. The face shows the direction of the robot.
WEIGHT- about 100kg (see bottom)
DIMENSIONS- 101.6cm diameter X 12.7cm
SPEED- 15mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 8mm
ARMOUR- 1.905 cm thick Grade 5 titanium
FEET- inside robot, uses 4 DrillZilla-style shuffling plates. These help prevent the bot being flung halfway across the ring on contact with another bot, ala Typhoon
POWER- 2 X S28-400s running on 36v. Uses 120 X NiCad cells at 36v, producing 12amps at 36v overall for drive and weapon power
WEAPONS- The main weapon on Whirligig is the spinning outer ring, fitted with 9 x Pussycat-style claws. The spinner is powered by an LEM-130 running at 36v. It can reach speeds of 1000rpm and produce up to 100kJ...more than enough to kill another bot at full speed.
As well as this, the power in the shuffling feet mean that Whirly can act as a pretty powerful pusher if the shell fails to work
SRIMECH- the robot is invertible and the blades prevent Whirly landing on his side
NOTES- flies Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, my first properly calculated machine
STRENGTHS- fast, manoeuvrable, very deadly weaponry, tough armour, scary face shows its direction, very good traction, cant be flung away on impact as easily as Typhoon
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability, feet may prove vulnerable to crushers and axes
WEIGHT CHECK:
armour = 33.72kg (inc blades)
chassis, mounts, bracing etc = about 30kg
drive and weapon motors = 12kg overall
NiCads = about 15kg
feet = about 10kg overall
TOTAL WEIGHT = 100.72kg. Fits right into the roller limit, with the 1% error margin rule. Probably.
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1297/whirligig45xt7.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1...ligig45xt7.png
4. E Clawdius Unum
SHAPE- skirted wedge with small box section and rounded back
COLOUR- deep green with red shield emblazoned on the wedge, depicting a gold lion with a crown
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 95cm X 70cm X 40cm
SPEED- 14mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 0mm at sides and rear thanks to skirts (arranged in a Biohazard fashion, corner-to-corner), 10mm without
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors
WEAPONS- The main weapon, as ever, is the hydraulic diamond-tipped crushing claw. It is powered by a Vivoil pump with an 80mm x 40mm ram, with a 2kg tank for storing the hydraulics. The claw runs at 3000psi and, aided by the diamond tip, should be able to leave plenty of holes in another robot.
The front wedge also features a Firestorm-style blade and two flat spears to aid in getting under the opposition. The wedge itself is now home to several Mute-style barbs to help ensnare other robots.
SRIMECH- A forward-hinged pneumatic arm on either side, powered by a pair of linear actuators. The rounded rear also prevents the robot getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, et tu, Brute? written on the underbelly
STRENGTHS- Quite nippy, good traction, powerful weapon, difficult to get underneath, fairly quick srimech
WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1801/eclawdiusunumor1.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1...iusunumor1.png

Whoa...
EYE OF THE ROBOT ALL-STARS
ROUND 1
Wedge Devolution vs. The May Tracks Has You vs. Wedginator 6.0 vs. Wedga€™s Revenge
This was so intentional its not even funny...okay it is. :proud: Steve, AJ, shall we gang up on May Tracks? :proud: After that, go for anyone nearest.
ISDSFA vs. Achilles vs. Axe To Fall vs. Axe-O-Lotl
Probably Achilles and Axe to Fall, but ISDSFA could make it through.
Tempest Evil-est-oution vs. Tira III vs. Back To Rock III vs. SoR X
I request a team-up with AJ: Ill take out Back to Rock, you handle that horrid Tempest Evil-est-oution, Mr. Jackson. I should be able to destroy Back to Rocks lifter before I get flipped. And even then SoR can right me... please AJ? :proud:
PsycloniZer vs. Killotine: EVO vs. Tengu VII vs. Gabriel II
Say goodbye Gabriel...and possibly Killotine out too.
Super Gore Evo vs. Exertion vs. Orka MK.4 vs. Black Panther
Nother team up with AJ. Go for Orkas front end and crunch it up.
Leprosy Infection vs. Whirligig 4.5 vs. No Objections vs. The 6isc
No Objections out, and possibly Whirligig 4.5 to join him.
Intriguing vs. Nidhogg vs. E Clawdius Enum vs. Flick Of The Wrist
Go for Flick of the Wrist, see if I can take out those lovely wheels. After that, turn my attentions to E Clawdius Unum, I seem to have a personal grudge with Clawdius... :lame:
Salamander III vs. Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus vs. Sheer Heart Attack 2 vs. Phoenix Down
Wow, the C&B champs again in the same fight. Chris has some really bad draws here...but maybe he can pull it off if he teams up with Phoenix Down.
Lookin sharp, mate!
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
...right? :proud:
TACTACTACTICTACTICS:
Psyclonizer vs. Killotine vs. Tengu vs. GABRIEL II
...great. Gabriel will spin around, and try and use the spikes to cause damage. With the shockproofing I reckon I could withstand a few hits, and if I get hit while spinning it probably wouldnt cause me as much armour damage as if I wasnt. Ill use the flipper though if it comes down to close quarters.
Leprosy Infection vs. Whirligig vs. NO OBJECTIONS vs. The 6isc
Spin. If not spinning, use the lifter to get anyone who could pose a threat out of the way, and target Leprosy over the other two if it comes down to it, as I know I can stop the weapon and have beaten it before - get it down the pit. Ill worry about the others when they worry me...
Intriguing vs. NIDHOGG vs. E Clawdius Unum vs. Flick Of The Wrist
Go for Intriguing, get the forks underneath the side, lift, crush, and pit. Then, go for whichever of the others is closest, and repeat, then the other one. :proud:
Salamander vs. Die--Ceratops vs. Sheer Heart Attack vs. PHOENIX DOWN
Ill use two claws for this fight - Die-Ceratops should be easy to get a hold of, so thats my first target, grab and pit. Then, Ill go for Salamander, seeing as I could get a hold of the axle with the claw, and then play things by ear.
Good luck, people
-
Eye Of The Robot - All Stars
Alright, if Joeys going to play awkward...
Intriguings revised tactics
Go for Nidhogg. Smack the axe onto the main body of Nidhogg until it dies from either something breaking, or just plain shock damage. THEN go for Clawdius.
Open for a team-up, Martijn? :proud:

Kody, you do realise one goes through from each melee? :proud:

Id rather fight you at full strength rather than if Flick and Clawdius go out and Ive taken a beating. :proud:

Kody - only 1 robot goes through from each fight, so Ill have 8 robots in the next round. Your tactics of teaming-up are going to be worthless, as eventually, only 1 robot will go through.
Its not the classic 4 way battle, 2 winners - its 8 x 4 way battles, 1 winner per battle.

Oh well, my tactics still stand, as the person I want to team-up with would generally be my preferred opponent when the others are killed off. Thats the beauty of it.
And besides, Tira III is SoL anyway. Two flippers and a heavy ring spinner? Suuuuure. :proud:

I need a LOT more tactics from:
AJ
Steven
Frank
Chris
Martijn
Alex
So if they can all send in some of their tactics, it could be a great help.

I dont really have any immediate tactics, per se. Just do what the robots do best.

Tactics arent actually needed for fights to be written. They help, but fights can be written without them.

Yeah, Alexs tactics are as obvious as...a very obvious thing, that graduated from the college of obviousness with honours and is now Special Advisor to the United Nations Obvious Committee.
