Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Given that some people have wished for me to do a minor, and given great enjoyment and pleasure I gained from reading Liams Challenge Belt battles, Im doing my own Challenge Belt battles. So...
EYE OF THE ROBOT - CHALLENGE BELT
The E.O.T.R tornumnent is having a bit of a rest, but due to the recent hypotheticals I€™ve been doing, I€™m doing a minor competition to keep me on task and keep me busy.
Now for the arena:
The Arena
The €˜WreckTaGon€™ is a hexagon shaped arena with three starting squares, coloured gold, green and blue. Originally, it had very little in the way of hazards, and still does, but these are very deadly - we still have the flipping spikes, and we also have the impaling spikes, set in sets of 5 in each corner of the arena, each made of Hardox and designed to cause serious damage. The pit release button for this arena is located on the bottom right side of the arena, with the actual pit being a mere 1meter away from it. Added hazards include the saws mounted into the floor to throw other robots away, and vertical flywheels behind each starting square - they weigh 50kg and spin at 1200rpm, each giving 50kj each. The arena is indestructible, with the floor being made of 50mm Hardox, with 3mm of polished Stainless Steel over the top of that, making the floor impossible to damage and VERY SLIPPERY! The walls are also made of 50mm Hardox, and are 65cm high, giving everyone the ability to flip someone OOTA! The arena (from a birds-eye view) is 5metres down and 7metres wide.
The Entry-Rules
€ I need 13 people to enter 1 robot (It MUST be a vapourbot)
€ Wheeled robots must weigh a maximum 100kg
€ Shuffling robots weigh a maximum of 110kg
€ Walkers weigh a maximum 135kg
€ When you enter, give me your hometown (if outside of the UK, tell me the country as well), and a link for your robot stats, so I can find them!
€ Once all the robots have been entered, I€™ll give the belt first of all to the robot with the most experience in E.O.T.R. I will then pick a random list of challengers. To keep a belt, you must win a total of 3 fights in a row., but you only get 1 chance at it.
The Judging System
Basically, Ive invented my own system - has 6 catogories, in which I mark out of 10. I then times that score in each section by how much the section is worth:
Dominance = ? x 6
Damage = ? x 5
Aggression = ? x 4
Stategy = ? x 3
Control = ? x 2
Style = ? x 1
So get entering! Only 13 spaces avaliable.

Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Ill gladly enter, Paul, with Nidhogg:
HOMETOWN: Pontefract
WEIGHT: 100kgs
DIMENSIONS: 100 x 70 x 37 (47 inc weapon) cm
SHAPE: Kind of like Lightning, only with a narrower front bit.
COLOUR: Dark green and brownish roughly chevron patterning, fading to blood red towards the front. Weapons are gold coloured with flame red spines on the arm.
DRIVE: 2 C40-300 Magmotors run at 24v from 3 NiCd packs driving 2 wheels with Vulkalon treads, with a ball caster just behind the forks in the nose. (originally Leeson motors, but nobody had a clue what they were)
SPEED: 14mph average, 20mph max
GROUND CLEARANCE: 0 at front due to forks, rising to 10mm at rear
ARMOUR: 4mm Hardox (7mm in key areas) on front, side and rear panels, 3mm aluminium baseplate
WEAPONS: Hydraulic crushing arm (constructed of hardened steel and aluminium alloy) at front driven from a Vivoil pump at 3000psi, giving 9 tonnes of force at the ram and 4.5 tonnes of force at the tip. Also has Haardvark-style lifting forks at the very front run from an S28-150 Magmotor and a lead screw capable of lifting 200kgs, generally used to hold opponents in place for the crusher to do damage.
SRIMECH: Via the weapon, which has decorative spines to assist in self righting. Spikes at the rear prevent the robot getting stranded.
NOTES: Components and armour shock mounted for protection against large scary spinny things. Cutout eyes in side of robot serve as targeting lasers (they dont actually target, they just look really cool)
STRENGTHS: Can cause a lot of damage
WEAKNESSES: Relatively slow to self right
Hes got one belt, and he wants another one due to being slightly obsessive about even numbers. :proud:

One qeustion- what are your policy towards the weight limit of tracks? This will impact my decision, you see.
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Oops! I didnt state that in my weight limits
The weight limit is the same for the shufflers - 110kg.

Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Name: Cyrilium Mach 2
Shape: Mortis (S4)
Colour: Gold, with a silver stripe down the middle.
Weight: 100kg
Dimensions: 100cm x 55cm x 30cm
Speed: 25mph
Turning Circle: 0mm
Armour: 4mm Hardox, with 1mm titanium bolted underneath.
Ground Clearance: about 4mm at sides and back, with 0mm at the front.

Weapon 2: A Storm 2 style electric lifting arm, that can lft 200kg.
Srimech: The lifting arm can turn 110 degrees and self-right the robot.
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
2mm Hardox doesnt exist...
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Why do you have 2 separate motors powering 2 separate sets of wheels?
And theres no way youre speed could possibly be 25mph, lower it to somewhere in the 10-15mph.
And Joey is right - the thinest Hardox is 3.25mm in thickness. And another thing - Storm 2s lifting arm doesnt go in an arc, it pushes forwards, and so it cant possibly self-right yourself if you get flipped.
And 2 more things Mark, given that Ive got a very bad view of you over tihs past month, Ill give you a few instructions:
If you lose, take it gracefully
DONT post any remember notes
If you win, take the win gracefully
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
...minor point, Paul, 4-bar (Storm II/Biohazard) lifters can self right, but if your body shape is anything other than a low wide flat sided box with your lifter running the full length of it, you generally need some sort of fin on top to enable it to tip you back over.

Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Can I reserve a place, please? Got ann idea in the pipeline, should get it ready by Sunday. If ya wanna get it started before Sunday then let me know and I will throw in an oldie robot of mine.
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Ive decided to replace the S28-150 Magmotors with S28-400 Magmotors.
Speed is now 17mph.
I will replace the lifting arm with a Mortis-like electric lifting arm, so it can self right with no troubles.
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Could I reserve a spot please
I have a new idea in the pipeline which needs hammering out and components found
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Id like to enter:
Holepunch
Weight: 100kg
Length: 100cm
Width : 70cm
Height: 40cm at the top of the beak, 28cm at the top of the armour.
Armour: 40mm Hdpe and 8mm 7075 aluminium baseplate.
Speed: 13mph - powered by 2 wheelchair motors running overvolted at 36v. with 150mm wheels
Shape: Razer-esqe looks, wedge at the front, a bit more boxy with rounded edges at the back.
Weapon: A Pneumatic crusher (yes i said Pneumatic) with a 250mm bore 120mm stroke full pressure 7075 aluminium 15mm wallthickness ram, giving a massive 25+ tonnes of force on the ram. this is levered down 2:1 giving 12.5 tonnes of force at the tip.
The Ram is fed by 4 burkert valves from 4 corners of the ram providing maximum flow to the ram. The beak is retracted by 2 gas springs at the front under the beak still protected from the sides.
Strengths: Very fast working beak, with tremendous force. The gear ratios on wheelchair motors provide a lot of pushing power all be it not very fast.
Weaknesses: This thing guzzles gas like a Hummer sucks petrol. I only have 5 to 7 good bites before the gasbottle starts to drain depending on the weather. To save weight I had to go for a slow drive. Selfrigting is also not garantueed.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front due to a sloaped front that scrapes the floor. 10 mm at the rear.
Srimech: when lucky it rolls over when the beak is in top position due to the low centre of gravity.
Notes: Still in development, so it is probably going to have some teething problems.

And by the way Daniel, Im currently on my school break (Yes - Im that young :proud: If you wish to know how young, just check my profile ) and I have about 6 days left, and plenty of free time if you give me an old design. Ill give you a deal - you can post an old design of yours now, but if by Sunday, the entries arent all in, THEN Ill let you enter the new robot. Is that fine with you?

VI in roman numerals is 6 Paul!
Its Seung Mina IV-4.
Looks like you just typed them wrong, and Gulp doesnt have a ! on the end.
Sorry to be picky but my SLAM! Family does and I dont want more bots with !s on the end.

For Glasgow!
Wedge Devolution
SHAPE- low wedge with sloped rear
COLOUR- sleek and shiny silver
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- 90cm X 75cm X 30cm
SPEED- 16mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at the front, 7mm for the rest of the robot. Fitted with Biohazard-style skirts on sides and rear, giving 0mm
ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
POWER- 2 X LEM-130s; 2 x 12v 3amp NiCad packs, giving 36v @ 12amp
WEAPONS- As usual, the main weapon is a rear-hinged flipper. This is very similar to Chaos 2, except the blade at the bottom is bent ala Bigger Brother, allowing the flipper to have greater effect against bots with skirts or low centres of gravity. The flipper itself is powered by 2 X 80mm high pressure pneumatic rams, each running at 250psi. This should allow Wedge Devo to comfortably flip up to 1 tonne.
SRIMECH- The flipper can right the machine easily and the rear wedge should hopefully prevent a Chaos-style self-flip. Also, Wedge Devo is equipped with a grey semi-sphere on either side of robot to prevent it getting stuck on its side
NOTES- flashing red light on top of robot, flies Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- powerful flipper, fast, manoeuvrable, difficult to get underneath, tough armour, good traction
WEAKNESSES- could prove a bit tricky to control, limited CO2 (like all other flippers :P)
Pic in the profile as ever.

Ill take the latest Black Panther as my entry

Paul, Its Cyrilium, not Cyriliam.
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
Isnt the arena a tad small being 5 by 7 metres?
-
Eye Of The Robot - Challenge Belt
And my robot will be called Opened by Transfer, once I have played with some Lego to make sure the drive system actually works. All Im saying is that the drive isnt going to be what you would call normal

What do you mean by Thank goodness I have hard armour? You chose it - and by the way, you can have shock-proofing.

I know why he said that Paul- its his way of trying to stop his bot getting ripped up without using one of his reminders- you banned him from doing them.

Sure Paul. If my entry isnt up by Sunday then I will enter Requiem. Stats in AJWars thingy. =)

You buy me a camera, then I will take some pictures.
I might break out my pencils and do a basic drawing tomorrow, as the drive system is hard to explain in words
