Spectrum help needed
hi all
i think it will be something sinmple to do, but i have the robot control (drive) on the right stick however the when i want to go forward it turns and when i want to go the side it goes foward
how do i stop this?
i have a lifter on a different channel which seems to be slower on the way back, ow do i sort this out?
and lastly, im pretty certain it shouldnt be doing this but when i put the robot on the lifter goes without the transmitter being on, any ideas?
thanks alex

you need to swap your reciver wires round on the reciever, you have them back to front to sort the drive problem.
if you are using an electonise switcher, when you turn it on, it fires the relays for a brief second and then sets back to a neutral position.
or if you mean it stays on, then you have wired it into the wrong side of the relay, you need to go into NO ( normally open ) not NC ( normally closed )
Hope this helps.

or read the spektrum manual and reverse them in not to sure how to

With the lifter moving on start up, it sounds to me like youve bound the receiver whilst the transmitter stick is centre or forward so it failsafes in that position.
If it works fine when you have control of it, that will be your problem.

so do i just re-bind it without touching any of the sticks?
also the power problem with the motor going backwards is this something to do with the 100% thing? i think adrian was on a bout the other day?
thanks alex

Swapping over the R/C plugs at the reciever may sort out your fwd reverse / steering probs.
Bind with the sticks and switches in their OFF or failsafe position.

well, i have found out that it is nothing to do with the spectrum but the relays in the switcher. the automatically click when the link is put in therefore starting the lifter. the only wasy i can think of stopping this happening is having the lifter mech touching the back limit switch therefore stoping it immediately
but is thereany other way?
thanks alex

Alex, I have a similar problem with aftershock.
I am using an electronize switch and until it links with the transmitter the valve is switched on. I havent found a solution to this just yet though and it would be interesting to hear what others have to say.

alex,
as i mentioned on the phone the other day, im no expert but the relays do click when powered up.
On all my robots when you put the link in the fire solenooids fire. Hence I never put my link in with the gas turned on, or i end up killing myself.
Ive done it once with the old ripper and learnt the hard way.
2 solutions as far as im aware,
1) wire it up so it sits on the lower limit switch.
2) fit an seperate receiver battery, when this is turned on , it will power the relays, ready for then safely putting the link in
John
Maybe woody can help?

didnt you do that yesterday Jonno, when ripper fired?

Spectrum help needed
no, in the words of jethro...
what happened waz...
I had a gas leak, so I place my shiney metal adjustable spanner inside the robot, and caught it on the spec receiver shorting out the exposed non used pins where the reciever wires go in....
saw a spark, and heard a bang !!
Scarey but another lesson learned!!

Alex ..Try something simple first and let me know the result.
Swap over the wires going to your lifter motor.

Note that Ive never owned an Electronize switcher.
But they should have 3 functions...BOTH RELAYS OFF with the stick/Switch central being the one that appears to be failing.
This is indicative IMO of the Spektrum failsafe being wrongly set...there shouldnt be any signal sent to the switcher by the reciever other than the OFF or neutral signal untill the transmitter binds to it and tells it otherwise.
What happens when you failsafe in Tech check?
One more thing that you could try just to make completely sure that its a duff reciever signal and not some other random event.
Disconnect the Electronize switcher from the reciever...then try powering up.
NOTHING should happen at all with the Switcher disconnected from the reciever.

they have two relays,
each relay has a common pin, normally open, and normally closed.
Its not a spectrum thing as it has always done it for me while using 40meg.
I know there is a fix, as someone told me years ago but i dont remember.
maybe something to do with how you wire into the switch, swapping inputs and outputs.

they failsafe normally, no clicks or anything,
Its just when you power them up ( via a reciever ) that it clicks.
Its like a pulse goes through the switcher and fires the relay.

I think the wiring is supposed to look like this ..

Hi Woody
In ripper to fire the burkets Ive gone 24v power into the RLA, and taken out via NO into the burkets, back out the burkets to Bat Neg.
Does this make a difference?
John
p.s when i put the link in, spec rec powers up, relays click, and burkets fire

John,
Youve wired it correctly in my opinion.
It must just be ... as you suggested ...the insertion of the link causing the reciever to emit a brief on signal to the switcher.
Hence the need for powering up before turning on the gas.
Have you got a spare FS1 kicking around that you could try as an additional safety feature ...it would be interesting to see if that sorts the problem.
