Hornet 2 will be upgraded and ready to compete :)
we will be there
ditto, but then you knew that already.
Drumroll will be in attendance, and with any luck it will actually do as the name suggests and have its spinning drum up and running :)
Might have a new feather there too if I get it built in time, but not 100% sure yet.
If the Eurochamps were anything to go by, this should be some good fun :)
ill be there with at least 1 of my bots
Is this competition just for feathers?
(Message edited by team ballistix on August 05, 2007)
Feathers or raptors(6kg) i would assume. The arena isnt big enough for heavies.
Cheers Ed. Might try and come to that one. We were thinking of going to thinktank anyway.
Last years event was good fun, should be just as good this year.
Should be there with JABOW, hopefully better armour, so I can have another go at Hornet 2 ( Grudge match Gary??)
Lol Id be up for that :)
Youre doing well today Gary, two grudges lined up in one night :)
Where is the Think Tank ?
(The bathroom :))
Birmingham, just east of the city centre.
If my bot lumberjack is finished i will be there:)! Do i need to register or something?
Thanks.
Dan.
Hi Dan,
We will add a signup page to our website with details for the event shortly.
http://www.robochallenge.co.ukwww.robochallenge.co.uk
Dont know now if Drumroll will be running for this event - have decided to completely redesign and build the inner chassis (plywood, fun though it was to work with, just splinters and rips too easily) Most likely a 3mm or 4mm welded ali inner chassis, with the mounting points for the drills and HTIs located too. So unfortunately I doubt the drum will be running by this point (maybe for the May event though :))
Instead Ill focus on getting my crusher up and running and give that a little run out at this one
Any news on the signup page Grant?
James theres a small typo on http://www.robochallenge.co.uk/events.htmhttp://www.robochallenge.co.uk/events.htm
it says Brimingham.. do you mean Birmingham..
looks like fun though.. tempted to rebuild something and come and play
James,
Any objection to me bringing my RFL spec. feather Pain In The Asp (13.58KG) to play? (not in the main comp. of course!)
Geoff.
that sounds good geoff! he can play with Venom, he needs to go to fat fighters too :)
any news on comp format?
will be a great event
Hi John, competition format hasnt been written up yet. We want to get a rough estimate of how many people will be looking at comming so we can decide what will fit best. Were hoping to have some more fun style fights, possibly tag teams or Football again (but with a few less robots :P)
Just signed up, Ill be there :)
just signed up Prodigy Evo, and also my daughters robot KAHN, which will be in whiteboards only as she is only 8 and needs to get practice.
adrian
at RR events they have atleast 2 feather fights a show and there is 3 events coming up
would do your daughter great - its also a comp without spinners so its better
dont no if ur signed up yet
Signed up - I will bring my own tag team along!
Only posted this so I can pass the 100 post mark.

Ok guys we have decided to make this a proper Tag Team championship event!
When you have decided who your partner will be please post here.
Also we need to decide on the ruleing. do we have bases where one team member has to stay until tagged in or is it a four way battle? let us know your thoughts.
I dont believe that a proper tag in tag out system would work in the arena so I am all for a four way battle or rather a 2 team way battle (if you follow me :))
4 Robots, two teams, battle, tag team battles always end up like that anyway, may as well start as a two team battle.:-)
Although Ive not officially signed up for this event yet (just waiting to hear if my teammate can manage) Ill be bringing along Drumroll (with spinning drum weapon finally attached) and Snakebite (vertical crusher). Rather than do a tag team with these two, Im open to offers; if anyone wants either of these machines on their tag team, just let me know :)
i will let you know. im not sure if my daughter is ready for full combat yet, but her robot KAHN is!
i think it should be just a four way fight, as like said above i dont think tagging each other in and out will work. one robot that will definatley be their 100% is prodigy evolution, its invertible with a horizontal 3kg spinning disc. will put a full spec on the fw database of its exact spec of rpm and power in the near future. so please note im pretty sure i will be looking for a tag team partner, but it would be good if their was a few whiteboard scraps to keep my daughter entertained and test KAHN.
but then again would it not be interesting to put all the names in a hat and pick tag teams that way?

adrian there will be plenty of whiteboards to.
Just got a couple of questions about this event:
- The first post in this thread says its on the 29th, as does the thread title, but on the website, its down as being the 28th and 29th December. Just wondering which of these is correct?
- And with the tag team; since its a team of two feathers with a grand total weight of 24kg, does this mean if one feather weighs 9kg, the other one can weigh 15kg?? :proud:
Thanks,
Jamie
4 way battle
and no plz let us pick our teams
thanks
Jamie
We are doing a show on 2 days at thinktank, however only the saturday we are doing a competition, it does give the one date on the sign up page sorry for the confusion
Both machines have to weigh 12kg or under. with a combined weight of 24kg or under
From the sounds of peoples oppinions we will be letting you decide your tag partners.
what happens to the ones that dont get picked. remember when you were at school picking a team for football practice? does anyone think it might be a bit predictable if you pick your own teams, their are always stronger robots and wouldnt these get picked first, what about the newbees who might get further in a competition being teamed up with a more experianced roboteer.maybe im wrong but im only making suggestions.
Random selection of teams - although I can bring my own tag team I can only drive one at a time.
2on2 format is better, no-one stays put when their partner is struggling.

I am for allowing those that want to pair up to pair up and then everyone else can be selected on the day.
If these tag teams are going to be the same as the tag teams i take part in at the AWS, i will probably end up OOTAing my tag team partner when he gets between me and an opponent (happened twice now at the AWS). :)
