Alex what kind of budget are you looking at?
I would recommend going for a seperate power supply and charger combination. It will cost a fair bit more than a cheap plug in the wall charger but on the up side you can charge your batteries in around 30 minutes
well not sure really, as i have got a funds for it myself, ill get it for my birthday, can you pick them up second hand? what charger would go with it?
thanks
ppl seem to use pro peak tons on ebay i have no experience tho
I use the T2m swallow ac/dc 2, because you can use that charger at home by plugging it directly in a ACsocket or in the field with a car battery. The ones like pro-peak chargers need either a seperate power supply or a car battery to work.
They cost only 99 euro which is about 67 pounds. No additional power supplies or stuff like that is needed.
does it charge quickily? and does it charger both nicad and nimh?
alex
Oh and unlike cheap wall chargers, they will fast charge with their built in power supply.
yes, up to 5A, and they charge nicad/nimh/pb/lipo/li-ion. They can also discharge and cycle nicad and nimh.

so how long estimated time for a 7.2volt pack, after a battle?
thanks
Depends on the mah rating of the pack. my gp3700 are done in about 10-15 minutes
well i have 2100 ones from technobots, not ones the make but that they sell, should be done quick then?
where can you buy them from?
thanks
I bought mine at quartel, http://www.quartel.nlhttp://www.quartel.nl but it is a pretty common charger, loads of brands carry these under different names.
Just look around al local hobby shops, there bound to have a version of it.
so is T2m swallow ac/dc 2 the actual name, or does it come under a variety of names?
It comes under a variety of names. T2m is a brand that sells them under the name Swallow AC/DC 2.

The only thing to watch with that eBay one is that it has an Australian plug on it.
Although provided the mains power rating in Australia is the same as the UK (i.e 230V) and assuming the plug for the charger is only a plug and not a special transformer, then getting a kettle cable thats got a British plug on it would solve that problem

Thats the one. I know of a Belgian roboteer that has the same charger with different buttons and brand name on it but is also the same specs and box.
does anyone know of english companies shops which sell this charger or similar?
i seem to be able to find it in france or other countries but not england
thanks alex
just looked through the posts again and realised the second one woody has put up is from england
but will it do all the same things as the other one?
and will it do everthing i need it to
i.e charge-
7.2v nicad
8.4v nimh
12v SLA battery
also will it charge these in the same/ similar time to the swallow charger?
apoligises for all the questions, just want to get the best charger for my money
thanks alex
It will do all the things that you have listed.
i think i have found it slightly cheaper

also found a used one on ebay, the seller stated that the charger charged a nimh 4200 pack in around an hour. i asked the voltage 7.2v, but from particularly dead 0.9v
seems good times to me, are they?
thanks alex
Look fine to me.
i have got one of the propeak sigmas for my birthday, but it doesnt include the leads for charging-it has a set for chrging USING and external battery and a plug for the plug socket
what should i be buying? i need to charge both lead acid battery and nicad/nimhs
any recommen=dations would be appreciataed
alex
Well, your charger uses banana plugs (I did not make that name up, I swear :) ), so you need those one one side. The other side can be crocodile clamps for the lead acid, and bullet or deans ultra or powepole or Tamiya connectors for the nicad/nimhs. Are they ready made packs? They usually already have a style connector on them.
you can get banana plugs from alot of places, maplin being one,
As does Technobots.
yeh they are ready made packs tamiya connectors-, what do you mean by the other side? i was thinking if i have a tamiya connector on the end i can charge the nicad/nimhs and then make an atachment to go onto that that will then connector to a sla, would that work?
alex
if i was to buy from tecnobots would these leads be the right ones
http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Charging_Leads_2.htmlhttp://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog...g_Leads_2.html
top 2?
alex
as long as you dont mix up positive and negative you can do whatever you want with the leads. However for a good detection of delta peak on the nimh/nicads i recommend as little in between connections as possible.
2 leads with the proper connectors on either end (thats what i meant with other side) gives the best charge results. So 2 banana plugs, 2 leads, 1 tamiya connector for your nicads or nimhs. You could als get a female tamiya connector and put it on your SLA.

top 2?
That would do it.
Those would be fine. Quite cheap too for made leads.
Reveving old threads :)
Im currently looking for a charger capable of handling Lithium, NICD, NIMH and PB, and came across the http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_.../20720Hyperion
this is the one i have think it does all those battery types, charges and discharges (you would need to buy some leads with it though)
