EnigmaTek 2.0
Okay... Heres the dealio... Ive got a week holidays from Wednesday, no work, so I have some time...
This is a mini tourny. With the same basis as AJWars: A New Era... BIIBI.
I need 8 people to enter a bot each. 100kg Heavyweights. RFL Rules (botleague.net), only change to these rules are, clusters get a 10% weight bonus (110kg combined), No Walkers/Flying bots. The arena will be the Combots Box from the USA.
Ill be picky on stats, but Ill be throwing suggestions on how to fix them when I do.
Get crackin plz k thkz.

EnigmaTek 2.0
Umm nothing about not entering realies so Ill enter S3.

And from the AJWars: A New Era thread:
quote:
real robots are obviously not permitted as they kind of defeat the object.
So, on a technicality, he does mention something about realies not being allowed :)
Unless of course Aaron chooses to allow them

EnigmaTek 2.0
Oooh, this was unexpected. Save me a place please while I get to work on a new design.

Im going to be boring and enter achilles. Partially because I suspect it should be the simplest to fix of all the robots that Aaron could tear apprt on technicalities, lol.
ww.alexjholt.tk as usual.

EnigmaTek 2.0
much like AJWars: A New Era eh?
guess Liarll do then

EnigmaTek 2.0
quote:
Weight: 100kg
Shape: box, slightly thicker than tornado, not double sided, sides skirted like PA, back curved for more efficient srimech (like the original hydra), front is sloped at 45 degrees
Wheels: Four inner wheels like tornados but the wheels are only half the width covered in highly treaded rubber grip to maximise traction, runs on a similar drive system to tornado as well.
Motors: 2x Eteks at 48v.
Speed: 18mph,
Turning circle: 0m
Armour: 5mm titanium and on top 10mm of vulcanised rubber to stop axes and crushers
Ground clearance: 0mm at front and sides, 1mm at the back but difficult to get too due to overhanging curve.
Weapons: Uses a single really powerful hydraulic lifting arm to life opponents of up to 200kg into the air and tip over up to 500kg. To get under the opponent it has a Bigger Brother style lifting plate which runs parallel to the ground resting upon it which give the machine a really low ground clearance. So it can get under virtually anything.
On top of the lifter is a hook mechanism which looks like a tiny claw but performs the same gripping effect as the top mounted behemoth axe. It is not particularly sharp as it is not designed to cause damage, just to grip the opponent.
The hydruallic mechanism can be exchanged for high pressure pnuematics against other rambots and things too fast to be allowed to be lifted. The pressure is 500psi in two canisters giving 1000psi in total, also with weight saved from the hyrdualics I remove the claw and add a t shaped bar at the back to self right whioch saves me using up C02.
Loose the Eteks, or loose the weapons :P Think youd be over weight with 20kg of drive motors and gearing plus a 25+kg weapon system :P Suggestion. S28-400 Magmotors @ 24v and aim for around 15MPH.
The volcalon top armour will be add a fair bit of weight, youd probably get the same effect with 6-10mm of polycarb, but without the weight.
Also, 2 x 500psi canisters doesnt equal 1000psi ;-) Id also like to see some information on batteries.
Otherwise, I think youve got yourself a spot :proud:
quote:
Name - Liar
Shape - A bit like a non-invertible Wheely Big Cheese, it has a fairly wide wheel-to-wheel base at the back, while the front is a much smaller (and pretty long) wedge, the front of the wedge has to €œside wedges€ as can be seen on the pic
Weight - 100 Kilogram
Speed - 29 km/h (18mph)
Dimensions - 120x60x30 cm
Ground Clearance - 0 mm at the front and underneath €œside-wedges€Â, 7 mm anywhere else
Power - 2 S28-400 Magmotors at 24 volt
Movement - 2 inner wheels, 15 cm in diameter
Turning Circle - Zero
Weaponry - The wedge contains a 1000 psi titanium rear-hinged flipper (basically the red parts of the picture), powered by two pneumatic rams. It should be able to give a 100 kg robot a height of some meters. As can be seen in the picture, the flipper has two €œside-wedges€Â. I have added them since I saw that flippers tend to be quite weak when attacked at the back. When Liar is attacked at the back, he simply does the same as Stinger does when he goes into flail mode. By doing so, the side wedge will ram into the opponent and shove underneath it. That way I can use my flipper and get it on his back. Although this flip will not be as powerful as a frontal flip, it will be a flip nonetheless, and it will help me get rid of any threats that approach me from the back.
Armour - 8 mm titanium all around
Srimech - That flipper
Information on batteries and some more information on that weapon. What size ram (Bore & Stroke) and how much CO2 onboard? (If your just cloning WBC, I think it was 50mm B x 300mm S and a single 2KG CO2 Tank)
Otherwise, the rest of it looks good enough to reserve your place :-)

Nitpick to your hearts content. :proud:

EnigmaTek 2.0
Ill fix it all up later, but Im pretty sure that you can rig up a system with 2 canisters whereby if the gas is released into a finite space from both at the same time through a valve, it doubles up the pressure because theres nothing else it can do. I seem to recall reading thats why Terrorhurtz got its pressure from lots of smaller canisters rather than fewer larger ones.
Now imagine how long youd have been there if Id tried to enter slammer, lol.
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
I cant wait to see all the faults aaron finds with D-J!
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
Actually he wont because as I said its the version which you helped me with.
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
Alex: CO2 is a ~750PSI regardless of if you have 1g or 5kg of it... Adding multiple tanks just gives you more gas to use, not pressure. The only time the pressure changes is if you change the temperature.
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
Kody: Your robot is only 150mm tall while your motors are 200mm tall... Besides that, the spirit behind this tournament is to get away from the super mega transformers in disguise type robots and back to a more sensible designs. Either choose a different bot, or look at different drive motors and replacing all that hardox with something like Titanium or Aluminium. The weapon on the robot is perfectly fine. Need information on the batteries though. powered by NiMH cells could mean it runs on 50mAh 1.2v Cells that wouldnt drive an antweight for 3mins.
Alex: Forgot one thing in the last post, Terrorhurtz runs regulated pressure on the weapon from between 90PSI and 150PSI...

Yes there is, stay in the cannisters. when pressure equalizes over the enitire system gas will stay exactly where it is. 1 gas bottle or 6 gas bottle wont make a bit of difference in pressure.
I blame Blaise Pascal for this. Just like I blame Isaac Newton for inventing gravity. :)

EnigmaTek 2.0
Actually... I post about it, but it hasnt show up :-( Argh.... Ill repost...
Tim, do some research, and stop slapping crap together... Also Martyn, if I see another entry that has Power: 2 x 24v Magmotors, Ill personally travel overseas to b1tch schlap you back to this thread :proud: Motors are not technically a power source, batteries are..
Follow this template and provide real information, and Ill relook at DJ entering. For now, its just being ignored...
Name: Robots Name
Weight: Robots Total Weight
Speed: Robots Maximum Speed (KM/H or MPH)
GC: The clearance between the arena floor and the robots body. Putting various clearances for the different sides is recommended.
Drive: The motors used, voltage, gearing, and any general information about your drive
Weapon: State as much as possible. Weight, Pressures, RPM, Force, Gearing, and anything else that can give me more information about it.
Chassis: State materials, thicknesses, and method of construction (Monocoque, Sectional chassis with bolt panels, welded).
Batteries: Very Important. State Chemistry type, Amp/Hour Rating, Voltage and number of cells.
Special Notes: Anything not stated above, invertibility, colors, characteristics...
Follow that, do some research and you should be able to provide a quality entry...

Eh, then Ill just pull out then. Im too lazy to do any fix-ups on anything right now. :lame:
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
Gonna have to cancel this due to lack of interest, and the fact Im now back at work, meaning I dont have sufficient time to do anything.

Sorry for not getting an entry in, been having trouble getting online. If people are still interested in this concept I may well do a second version in a week or so.
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
I might be looking at reviving this again. Im moving this week, and I will no longer have to drive 2 hours a day to work, so I might be able to have some time to create a nice tasty tournament for yall
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
If you are going to revive this, Aaron, Id like to put in Avarice. :proud:
Yeah, been reviving threads I think need reviving. :proud:
-
EnigmaTek 2.0
No. But Id like to invite all competitors to another tournament that will be co-written by AJ and myself, and will be finished :proud:
