FRA elections 2007.


Applications are invited from FRA members to contest FRA elections for the following posts.
Present post holder

President of the association Andy Kane

Chairman of the associationGeoff Smith

Secretary of the association Vacant

Above constitutes the National Executive

Area Chair person

South East Karoline Pannell

Wales and South West James Baker

South Midlands Kane Aston

Midlands Tony Somerfield

North West and Scotland Mark Lumb

East Midlands and North East Trevor Wright

East Anglia Andrew Marchant

Netherlands/ Belgium Vacant

Rules

A. You can nominate yourself and do not need a seconder.
B. Event organiser€™s are constitutionally excluded
C. Election to take place early May by Email ballot
D. Area chairmen need to reside in the area that is applied for.
E. Final date for nominations is to be 9th April 2007
F. Length of term is two years
G. John Frizell is to be the returning officer and therefore does not vote

How are the voters seen?
1 for every FRA membership team?
Or just the member in a team?

Oh well, the Current FRA president Andy Kane has put it clearly I as non paying roboteer dont have anything to say.

But I will vote for every Chair Person.

As much as a certain level of humour on this forum is both welcome and in some cases required.
These elections are a serious part of the democratic process required by the FRA constitution and we would request they are treated as such.

Fighting Robot Association

After reading the job and responsibility list for the President I am going to remove my name from the list. Waaaayy too much responsibility which I dont want to have on my shoulders. Instead I will stand for South West Rep.

Why is the position of FRA safety rep not on the above list?

My apologies to the FRA reps.

My intention with the joke was not to demean the FRA or any the titles therein but to merely farce the random applications for those whom do not take such positions seriously.

I, however, find democracy boring unless someone is mocking the event. Therefore my application for Chief Nobody still stands!

Are the people currently holding a post in the FRA board eligible for another term?

You get my vote for being South West Rep Dave, nice to have someone out going to join a post.

Some people know already, but I am standing for Midlands Rep. I assume that those people who are standing again are standing for the same positions they already hold. Doesnt affect me, just wondered.

Marco van Hek (Hades, Belgium) might be willing to stand for Netherlands/ Belgium.

(Having been the first rep of that area I endorse him wholeheartedly.)

Further to above

An election will take place for the position of chairman between Geoff Smith and Craig Danby,

Andrew Marchant is standing down as East Anglian Chairman. We wish Andrew well and thank him for his efforts.He now lives in Kent.

Marco Van Hek is standing for the Benelux countries.

The FRA has now vacancies for the position of secretary and now an area chairman for East Anglia

You must be a member of the FRA to vote.
Voting papers will be sent by email only
The election of the chairman will consist of an all membership vote.
For the regional chairmen the vote will consist of members within the region concerned.

New applications for membership must be in before the 15th April 2007 to qualify for a vote.
Please note that membership is open to new members at £10 per calendar year.
For past members of the FRA rejoining after 31/3 of the year the membership fee is £20

Its like watching a UK election, without all of the election posters and propaganda!

Im not a member - so wouldnt have expected to get anything but one question springs to mind which seems pertinent here.

With email being a non-assured delivery mechanism on the internet (ie non-delivery wont always generate any failure notice)... how does the FRA actually ensure all votes are counted if it cant tell if any have been lost in transit?
