21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
2007 Fighting Robots European Championships
Hosted by ROBO CHALLENGE LTD.
Sponsored by PRIORY CASTOR & ENGINEERING
Robo Challenge are pleased to announce the 2007 European Championships for both Featherweight and Raptor class. On the 21st/22nd July the largest ever featherweight event will be taking place, and with up to 40 featherweights and 15 raptors, this will not be an event to miss out on!
The full combat competition is being held in the Robo Challenge Grade 2 arena, meaning all robots conforming to the FRA build regulations will be allowed.
Over the 2 days of combat, there will be 6 shows, consisting mainly of competition fights with 2 white boards in each session. Each robot entered into the main competition will have a minimum of 3 fights each to get a fair chance of progressing to the next round. Further details on the exact competition format will be published at a later date. Each competition fight will be judged by three independent judges to try and obtain the fairest decisions.
The first 12 non-UK entries will be given £75 to help with travel expenses. This will be given out per FRA membership. I.e. if 6 robots are fighting under 1 FRA membership only £75 will be given.
An entry fee of £5 per FRA membership is required to secure your place. This will enter 1 robot per team. Each extra robot entered under the same FRA membership will be a further £2. This Entry fund will go directly to the prize money and secure your entry into the championship. To up the stakes there will be a large prize fund - a minimum of £500!!!
The competition will be held in the Birmingham area with sign-ups and details on the venue to be published shortly.
Good Luck

Only been open less than 3 hours and already more than 1/4 full in both weight classes.
Looks like we will be seeing some new faces too, 4 robots from Finland have already signed-up to see how us Brits really do things:proud:
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Any feathers from Finland?? I am very tempted to start on a Raptor too :)
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Yeah, there will be one finnish featherweight and other three are Raptors.
Sadly I cannot come myself since I´m in the army at the moment, but maybe next year.. I already have some evil plans and whole year time to battletest em.. ;)
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio

-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio

-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
As it happens the dates co-incide with the wedding of two German roboteeers. So I dont expect a lot of German roboteers for this event unfortunatly.
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
I have signed up for this, 3 feathers, 1 raptor.
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Thats a shame. Sign ups are still going well guys. looking forward to seeing you all here. Dont forget that additional robots entered will need a separate designated driver. This helps the championship run smoother for everybody and also stops the possiblity of haveing to pull one robot out due to haveing to battle yourself in a competition fight. Whiteboards are fine with the same driver on multipule bots though.
Im umming and arring which robot to enter out of Predator and Captain Scarlet... Predator would look great but i think captain scarlet would have a better chance?
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Are the fights one-on-one? We have 2 drivers and 3 feathers.

21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Each round is different to try and get the best of all competition formats.
Starts with a league of 3 way melees. then knockout 1 on 1s with a losers melee, semi is a 3 way with the final 1 on 1. It maybe be altered slightly but that is the basic format. is it possible to bring a third driver leo?
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
No, Mario cant get that time off and if Rick comes along it would probably be 3 drivers 4 feathers. :)
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Then get a random volunteer driver to wreck your machine for you on the day :)
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
Hmm so tempted to come. Ill think about it :)
-
21st & 22nd July 2007 - Fighting Robots European Champio
I will def be there. Just had hornet running around on its wheels for the first time and whilst I think the wheels will be changing before the competition it is exceptionally controllable and going to be very interesting to watch with a disc going at full tilt on the front :)
-
