Well, the first one seemed to work well, so lets do another!
For a reference, heres the original:
http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=760&post=67131#POST67131http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/cgi-...st=67131#POST6 7131
Since Im writing yet again, Ill go ahead and be blunt about taking a long time. I may or may not be a little faster with this one. Well see. I dont expect to get crowded out, so just enter and Ill count you. No new entrants after the first page.
4 mass categories, one bot per entrant in each of them. No more, no less.
Lightweights: 25 kg
Middleweights: 50 kg
Heavyweights: 100 kg
Superheavyweights: 150 kg
Walkers and shufflers will get no advantage, because Im lazy.
Heres what the stats should look like:
-Picture, preferably CAD, preferably good.
-Short description of the design. What it does and maybe what its made of. Dont do strengths and weaknesses: ILL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT.
-Ill allow strategies in this one. You cant modify for fights though. This just gets ridiculous when the parts are all free.
The Arena will be a 25x25 metre box with no hazards, house robots, or anything special, except a moat around the edge protected by a 1 meter wall.
The Tournament will be as close to a single-elimination as possible. Depending how many entrants I get, I may or may not bullshit the elimination round (just write the % victory without any description to save time). Seems to be working decently enough in New Blood, so Ill resort to it if you force me to.
The Writing will be the same format as last time. % victory and a reason why. I like to call it proper statistics-based fanfic for the discriminating gentleman.

Right, lets have a go, with some modifications to last time, some just tweaked, others replaced. I may change my mind slightly later.
Lightweight
ttp://http://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/BALDUR3.jpgwww.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/BALDUR3.jpg
Little Baldur
A little invertible box with a scoop at the front designed to survive everything. The scoop works both ways up. The weapon pivots on the side also prevent it getting stuck on its side. the armour is most heavily layed on at the front so it can charge into spinners.
Speciality: Armour and wheels
Middleweight
http://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/t7.jpghttp://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/t7.jpg
Tengu
Doesnt need too much introduction I feel, a top spinner disc with two blades weighing 3.5kg in this instance at about 2cm from the ground. (Ignore the upper blades in the pic, those are a different weapon set up not used here, just add the upper blades to the lower blades) My infamous spinner ring sits just above the blade and is used to dissipate the attacks of horizontal spinners by transfering the enrgy into it so it goes whizzing round and tengu is unharmed. Its made of thick, plasticised rubber and basically just mounted on casters. There are four small internal wheels on a skid steer system, protected from being under cut by a metal foam skirt which gets squashed slightly if tengu is rocked at all. The bar on top pivots on some side and is powered by actuators to self right.
Speciality: Weapon and wheels
Heavyweight
http://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/BPQhttp://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/BPQ
Black Panther Queen
A pyramid with the tip cut off low down, skirts, and a double headed pnuematic axe and flipper. The flipper is in two halves but attached at the back, so that it doesnt interfere with the axe. There is a slight bias in armour towards the front.
Speciality: Weapon and wheels
Superhevyweighthttp://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/redknight.jpghttp://www.geocities.com/alex_j_holt/redknight.jpg
Red Knight
OK - the complex one. The main body is quite titchy, its all about the weapon. The weapon pivots off the centre, and follows an opponents direction using motion sensors - and is essentially a huge hardox plate on castors with a 10kg flywheel set into it for damage. Anyway, it basically means that whenever someoen attacks unless they are very fast theyll hit the plate, and the disc.
Speciality: Attack and Defense

I might enter this tournament, but Ill need to think things out first. I havent used my lightweights/middleweights in a while, and my super-heavyweight has hardly been used at all. Nevertheless, Ill see what I can do.

One of the champs returns to defend the crown! :proud:
Reserve me a space, Ill have some stuff up later today.

yay, save one for me too ^^

Byte Size 2
Lightweight: Anti-Virus
Hes basically a really fast rammer with a skirt in front to get under robots. Hes really fast, really pushy, and really ANTI. Hes invertible also. Now has side spikes to prevent getting stranded on its side.
Pic: http://www.geocities.com/kodybluz/Anti-Virus.bmphttp://www.geocities.com/kodybluz/Anti-Virus.bmp (same pic as before doesnt have the side skirts; Ill fix that later =P)
Specialty: Speed and pushability
Middleweight: Xianghua
Designed to be a fast and armoured (5mm Ti/V alloy) Storm II with a flipper capable of flipping over her own weight. Also invertible, and though not as effective, will re-invert herself to get back on even footing.
Pic: None as of yet, but Ill get one up soon.
Specialty: Speed and armour.
Heavyweight: The Sickness
A really nasty full-body spinner with a horrifically powerful spinning shell that has hooked blades on the sides to kill wedges, AND edge blades on the top to destroy axes and crushers. Its got a fast spin-up time as well at about 1.6 sec. Its not invertible though.
Pic: http://www.geocities.com/kodybluz/TheSickness.bmphttp://www.geocities.com/kodybluz/TheSickness.bmp
Specialty: Weapon and spin-up time.
Superheavyweight: Red Flag
Er...its a box with a front wedge thats been cut-off towards the middle to make room for the vicious vertical disc, but mainly to catch opponents who try to race by. Its also got weak lifting skirts to further prevent the opponent from getting under and even.
Pic: http://www.geocities.com/kodybluz/RedFlag.bmphttp://www.geocities.com/kodybluz/RedFlag.bmp
Specialty: Weapon and rear lowness.
---
There. Ill try and have a CAD or MSPaint pic of Xianghua up during the weekend.

Here are my machines...
LIGHTWEIGHT: Little Big Bot
This little tiny robot has a lot of hard. Shaped a bit like Biohazard, his main tactics is to pummel his oppodents to death with his nasty axe, which doubles as a srimech, takes about a second to swing down, and can go through most things.
Speciality: Weapons and Wheels.
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Tom
Wedge shaped, Tom has a flipper which can toss FIVE times his own body weight. The whiskers, ears and tail are to prevent him getting stranded on any vulnerable sides, whilst the flipper rights him.
Speciality: Weapon and Armour.
HEAVYWEIGHT: Orka MK4
You probably know what he can do. Behemoth shaped, front lifting scoop of over 100 kilos lift, claw to grab (not crush), dorsal fin srimech and tough armour as well.
Speciality: All round jack of the trades.
SUPER-HEAVYWEIGHT: Octo-Push 3
Or Storm 2 meets Revolutionist meets Squidward Tentacles. Its fast, rams oppodents with the front wedge, or cuts them up with that nasty rear drum. If youve seen Revolutionist in action, and I have, youll KNOW what it can do. It does not stand being flipped though.
Speciality: Weapons, Power and speed.

The goal is more than 8, at least. Any more is fine, just enough so that we can get in an elimination round.
What Ill do is put everyone in melees (for the whole mass class), and eliminate the 2 or 3 or 4 robots with the lowest %.
Starting at the QFs always seems really cheesy.

Excuse me, I dont really think my CADs are that crappy anymore :P

They are.
If its any consolation, your CADs are the best CADs made by someone named Kody.
Alex Ms arent the best CADs made by someone named Alex.

Nick, I would just like to say that Exotherm is an ugly CAD.
:P
-
Byte Size 2
Most robots are mere foot soldiers, dispensable pawns for their kings corrupt empire, shivering in their boots at the frailty of their lives. Exotherm is the dragon. The untouchable beast that commands respect, that strikes fear into the hearts of the lay-robots! Exotherm was born not of this universe. God didnt make Exotherm. Exotherm killed God and took his place, and shall forever torment us!

How about indifferently? lol

Sure thats fine. What do I look like, some kind of ass? Im not going to force everyone to get ridiculous with the praising every time they bring up Exotherm; that would get really annoying really quickly.

Little Baldur vs. Anti-Virus
60%-40% Anti-Virus wins. Basically, due to the match being pusher vs. pusher, it all comes down to certain discrepancies. Baldurs armor advantage doesnt excatly help him here, and Anti-Viruss wedge looks a little more effective. When you couple that with Anti-Viruss speed advantage, it seems gone down more to AV than LB.
Tengu vs. Xianghua
64%-36% Tengu wins. Tengu has a weapon advantage, and Xianghua has a weapon advantage. Unfortuantly for Xianghua, hes pretty blocky meaning that Tengu will get a ton of good hits on him. When you add that to the fact that Tengu is able to self-right, Xianghua is screwed. The nice speed and armor advantages, however, make up for it and Xianghua could be the brick here. I just dont see it happening though.
Black Panther Queen vs. The Sickness
75%-25% The Sickness wins. This, Tony and I agreed, was basically a one hit kill match. If BPQ could smack Sickness with that axe, the entire battle shifts in his favor. However, The Sickness has a huge amount of reach on BPQ, and could easily hit him first. Hits like that could just keep pinging BPQ away, and stop him from ever lining up a good shot.
Red Knight vs. Red Flag
83%-17% Red Flag wins. That vertical spinner, I think, would just flip Red Knight over and thatd be the end of that match. The thing is, though, thats not really the only advantage Red Flag has. Red Knights only offense is this tiny little disc, with no teeth, that could easily get ripped apart by Red Flags bigger disc. Really, Red Flag has a huge chance of winning.
(Done by Anthony and myself)
Little Big Bot vs. Feedback
60%-40% Feedback wins. In my opinion, this all falls down to the sizes of robots. If LBB was as small as I think he is, he would slip right underneat Feedbacks bar. If he wasnt, he would get smacked around by it. After reassessing the situation, after talkng it over with Anthony, I came to the conclusion that he was right and the chances of LBB fitting under Feedback are slim, thus he would probably get ripped up.
Tom vs. Scorpion Bite
80%-20% Scorpion Bite wins. Scorpion Bite focuses compltely on the weapon, while Tom splits his speciality in half, going for weapon and armor. Since his armor focus isnt as great as SBs weapon focus, SB would easily be able to do a lot of damage here. On top of that, Tom has flat, easy to hit sides, meaning it wouldnt be hard for SB to smack him around. This is basically the same as the fight with Sith last season.
Orka MK4 vs. Tank
75%-25% Tank wins. Tank has a huge speed advantage here, due to Orkas jake of all trades. Along with wedge superiority, Tank would take the victory here, with hardly any problems. If Orka were able to get to the side of Tank, he would have a nice chance, but I dont see it happening often enough.
Octo-Push 3 vs. Cosmic Thunder
99%-1% Cosmic Thunder wins. Seriously, there is no way. One flip is all it takes, and it shouldnt be hard to get it, considering that CT focuses some of his energy on armor. Cosmic Thunder is lower than Octo, and should be able to stand the disc long enough for the flip. Really, its all just a matter of time.
-
Byte Size 2
Heh. Actually I must agree with every single one of your analogies, Alex. Including Xianghua. She would probably never defeat something like Tengu, not when Tengus got those low blades. Xianghua, shes really get torn to shreds. =P
3-1 aint bad, though. =)
