Thats an ancient store, and though some of the components are at a good price this is a case of you get what you pay for.
I used http://www.distel.co.uk/Asps/details1.asp?ID=HN62http://www.distel.co.uk/Asps/details1.asp?ID=HN62 in a robot a long time ago and this particular motor isnt too bad for a budget project but Id reccomend that its better to invest in gold motors which are a similar size if you were thinking of using them, to avoid having an underpowered machine.
What are you thinking of building?
All the best

You can sometimes pick one up cheaper second hand on here but to be honest, unless your putting one in a featherweight disc I would look for something a bit smaller.

If you are thinking of putting one on a featherweight spinner...Be VERY careful these motors are extremely powerful, and not to be messed with in that sort of application unless you have a serious understanding of spinner and chassis construction, paticually with regard to the long term effects of impact stresses and shock loading.

Ahh itll be alright. Along as you have plently of spare chassis.

If you dont want to be rebuilding frames after two or three events, I recommend making the core of the frame from 10mm aluminium. I have had several years experience on this and 5mm just isnt enough! To find out why, check my build thread: http://www.robowars.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74&start=0http://www.robowars.org/forum/viewto...p?t=74&start=0

Greetings Nick,
is that old wreck of yours going to be fit for SF next June?... looking forward to introducing it to Pillow Torque and Pain In The Asp

You could built it from Polypro. Dragonstrike armour is also its frame as well. It has a 2kg hardox 650 disc driven by a EV Warrior.
Any picks of Pain in the Asp yet Geoff.

is it still june geoff? thought it was brought forward.
must say i dont follow as closely as i should.
my advice on a mag powered spinner... dont. at the point on the learning curve you currently find yourself (no offence meant of course) this idea will just cost you loads of money, and it will break.
learn from all those in the past that spent money on nice bits, only to burn them out or have them destroyed, when 6 months later they had learned from their previous machines, enough to at least have a chance to have used the nice bits effectivly.
the term dont run before you can walk is appropriate i think. if you must build a spinner, use lower power motors for now, and learn all the lessons a spinner builder must learn on cheaper components.
just my suggestion.

Note to self, dont mention spinners and magmotors :)

what about spinners and eteks mate?
lol
selling your disk yet? i know a few of us are keen to line your pockets for it :)

why bother with expensive ,heavy interference causing motors. The new generation of brushless outrunner motors is getting ready to kick ass.

Ok Geoff, you have completely intimidated me and Jolt. Ill be hiding under a rock come June - this rock to be precise: http://www.robowars.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=947http://www.robowars.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=947

Mario: Im trying out an Neu ORK brushless, but you cant say they are cheaper than old-school Mags - they usually cost MORE with the controller. The controllers are pretty fragile too, from some peoples experience.

James, that disc is staying in my garage for the moment :) I do have plans for it although they may take a while to materialise.
I have just finished designing gearboxes to allow me to drive my next heavy with 2 eteks :)

I do agree on the controller part. Brushless motors are not that expensive, but the controllers capable of supplying the current are still very expensive. Still, in the weight/performance curve they are very nice indeed.
