Oddly, I think that that was the match in which Nightmares tooth broke through the roof, landing on BattleBots founder Greg Munsons sister-in-law, breaking her arm.
Most people didnt find out about that til an hour or so later.
I was going to say what happened to the tooth??? that must have come off at some stupid speed and carrying some ridicules amount of force.
What was the roof made of ?

According to the site:
There is a thick grade plastic ceiling covering the roof of the BattleBox .
From what I understand, the tooth escaped through a gap between the sheeting and fell from the top.
how long does it take to errect that monster arena ??
john
Our DRG FCC arena takes about 2-3 days. But after a while we should be able to do it in a day. I would venture to guess Battlebots had about a week.
Warhead effectively twisted Nightmares tooth right off the side of the disc! The 5 pound tooth flew across the arena, bounced off the Lexan and landed back near where the bots were fighting. The disc was still spinning full-speed however, and the peeled-back aluminum from the gap where the tooth used to be, came back around and sliced through Nightmares own weapon drive belts, and the disc slowly spun down and stopped.

I reckon with 60 - 80 manhours, at the moment. At Utrecht we put up a lot more than just the arena.
Damn, you forget how georgeous Warhead is!
Thanks for posting!

i think it was the heavyweight melee later, in which the tooth escaped. i knew about the tooth hitting gregs family member, but didnt know it broke her arm.
James is right - the tooth that flew out of the arena was in one of the Heavyweight Melees later on during filming, not during the Warhead/Nightmare fight.
As soon as the weakness was identified as result of the tooth escaping the box Battlebots immediatley cancelled anything further that could result in the same thing occurring again, so sadly a number of the final fights (including a Final fight Warhead could have been in) never took place

David, Nightmare actually broke the tooth on the back of a disabled Spitfire. It did indeed land on the sister in laws arm and then bounce on the babies head that was in her arm. This hammened in front of Simon and Gary Smith of the GrimReaper team who were at the time in the audience. In that fight there were only two British teams. Little Sister and Spitfire.
This I know coz I was the driver of Spitfire. LOL.
Mike.

now thats a cool spinner
I do indeed Dave - thats what I get for copying it letter by letter :lame:
Hmmmm..............Yes, that is indeed one scary spinner. However, goes to prove that it cant take its own hit. It died! However, I was more interested by the lack of true safety. Any one notice the screwed down link method? Scares me that does. And the safety restraint. If that motor powered up with that in then it would break the safety restraint. Or am I missing the point?
One more negative point, the poor s0d who won! He has to fix that before the next fight! LMAO
Mike.
This is from the event report:
As you watch the video, you can see Greenwave not spinning under control. The contactor shorted so the Etek motor was spinning out of control.
With Greenwave spinning out of control, Paul told Wayne if he wanted to hit him. Wayne laughed and said no - Wayne had already won the fight by disqualification because of the failure in Greenwaves weapon.
But with the crowd cheering, Wayne changed his mind and spun up the drum, going in for the hit. you can see the aftermath. The hit from Death Drum broke the contactor off the Greenwave, stopping the short.
Out of control spinner - eek!
You might say it was brave of Wayne to sacrifice his robot. Both to the oil-thirsty audience and the safety of the poor bloke who had to go in and somehow disconnect the monster.
I am always surprised that when a large spinner goes out of control, far from step back from the polycarb, people seem to get closer.
I would have let the batteries run down, I dont like this solution of having the other robot go in when there is no need.
