Id like to start by asking the builders of Hornet, Small Cheese and Byte - if they see this topic - to post a little about their machines so that I can check out my opposition!
Cheers

Hornet is Gary Cairns feather, dunno much about it yet. I would like to know about Beauty, i know the others in my heat. By the way guys in Heat D things are not looking good for Secret weapon, the weapon isnt working, motor is broken, although the drum is nicely painted!

Been testing DragonStrikes weapon today. Tested it on Dragon 2. Now need to straighten the 4mm Hardox bent it 45 degrees and snapped the welds on the corners. 10mm Ali straight through it. 12mm Polypro just finished with the heat gun filling the holes in. Yours is PolyPro Ewan.

UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
lol, I did say terrify the opposition... but
Dont worry, my 2kg concuction of wood, ali and polypro should hopefully be up to the job :uhoh:
Whats the height of the disk btw?

Depends on the opposition from 1cm to 3cm it points slightly downwards so it does not ride up wedges too easly.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Heat F looks intresting Stu.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
lol, yeah, have fun. I hope your SP2 is more of an improvement than Micro$ofts
Okiedoke, well the extra armour is only at a slight angle at the rear - but with ti on the very shallow front Id be really very surprised if you could get much purchase on the surface unless you managed to catch an edge. All very theoretical
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Sounds very, very impressive. Secret wepons broke but its still gonna win, Woooooo!
Ploughbot and KR3-SP2 i can also see going far :)
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
For heat B
Small Torque - Geoff Smith
Chassis... 6082 T6 Ali.
Armour... Nylon 6/Ti/Hardox laminate
Drive... 2 X 300W Thin-gap motors / 26:1 gearboxes
Power... 3700mah Ni-Mh
Control... Vantec RDFR23
Surprize - John Frizell
Chassis Plywood
Armour: mahogony, Ali, macralon and a bit of steel
Drive: 2 x 24 volt drills
Power: Nicads
Control: Electronize
So what do Feather hard, Hawk, Flipper and Spin Awe have to say about themselves?
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
The only prob with DragonStrike is that it works great till you show it an arena
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
GiAnto is a well armour little bot thats not very quick but its quite torquey nothing to worry about
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Ewan , Byte is my robot ,
its a rambot with 4x18v drills at 24v , 3300mah batteries , 6mm ti for side armour , 4mm Hardox front and back with 8mm hardox spikes welded to the front and back .
It may have optional weapons like a hardox wedge or some motor bike tyre for slowing down spinners . If you or anyone wants to talk to me im at alistairwalker195@hotmail.com

UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Dave, correction, SW is working, well maybe. Have repaired the Astroflight but dont know how long it will last before we see some smoke. An going to modify the front to take a plate of 1/4 Ti as my backup plan.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
I got some more 1/4 Ti at mine you mayaswell slap on there if you have the weight. And if your wepon works then your deffo going to win :)
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Featherhard. Speed 900 4wheel drivetrain, at least 3mm steel armor all over.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
BonX. Speed 900 2 wheel drivetrain, at least 4 mm average hardox all over.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
I beleive that Little SPinner 2 is not being entered, its attualy Little Hitter 2. Would of preferd Little Spinner 2 than Little Hitter 2 as my top 5mm T6 ali is gonna have a few dents in it, where as the new 4mm hardox outer shell has already proven, Scorpion Evil cant even mark it.
And from what i herd about a fight against the New Little Spinner and Batter bot, Little SPinner came off worse breaking its gear box and all sorts. So the spinners dont bother me, im more scared of Battle Bot and Alpha and Ploughbot as there the other 3 decent pushers like myself. So it will be down to low ground clearance and driving skill really.
Should be fun.
And for KR3-SP2 - like the Micrsoft SP2 on my computer, i have downloaded all the updates and installed all the anti virus stuff and spy ware software and my computer seems fine, so hopfuly KR3-SP2 will continue the same way

Same here with the LH and LS thing, im happy to fight little spinner but at Fanborough LH bent my top (same as yours 5mm T6) down onto my battery pack and ended up snapping a link between cells!
New LS is having teething problems (snapped pinion gear on magmotor and a drive pin broke) but still as powerfull as before.
whos driller killer and overdrive?
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Overdrive is AJs 4WD rambot with just a scoop for now I think. I dunno who driller killer is
Id personally prefer Little Hitter, so it would be good if what youre saying turns out to be true, and there isnt yet another spinner to contend with.
Vertigo hasnt suffered any real problems besides the drive gearboxes and getting stuck up on arenas, so hopefully my gearbox mods and new lifter actuator which can now send the arm below flat will give the machine a good chance in the competition.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Ewan, stats of hornet,
- 2kg disc at the back powered by a pancake motor
- 4mm hardox sides and front
- ali base and polycarb top
- 2 12v golds on a 4:1 ratio with 90mm blue wheels
- 2 electronize 15amp
currently weighing in at 13kg (why couldnt the new limits have come in :)) so a bit of weight reduction will have to take place. I will probably just replace either the side or front panels with some ali. I really cant be bothered and dont have the time to drill holes left right and centre. Most of my time at the mo is being spent on having a running heavyweight.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Okiedoke, good luck getting it down in weight - Im sure Tony wont have any complaints with some ali here and there
Itll certainly be the heavy well be looking out for most for sure!
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
The more Ali the better. Just about to get the router out, got to lose 400g.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Just assembled my robot with the full armour on it . I think it is just slightily overweight . Better get some material milled out .
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Does anybody know anything about Woodpecker in Heat F?
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Ironside, Conundrum mk2, Tronic1?
Anyone know much about these?
I havnt driven Ploughbot properly for quite some time, and so need some practice before i can safely say ill win :)
Whos the favourate to win then?
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Ironsides this belongs to Trev (Mighty Mouse) it is a 2 wheel drive hexagonal Hardox ram bot.
The last time I say Conundrum mk2 it had a spinning drum at the front driven by a EV Warrior and a wedge at the back.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Captian Scarlet is a featherweight Robo Challenge kit. had a practise against venom and ploughbot and dispite getting pierced and slammed into the walls it just keeps going and won half the time lol. Reliability is the key to this machine, lets just hope it works lol!
If you want jonno i can bring Venom to put on display.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Apart from Suprise which I know very well I have no idea about the others........ not even Small Torque LOL
With a brand new robot and very inexperienced driver I dont expect Small Torque to do brilliantly but rest assured that Jenny and I will give it 100% to get it to the final.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Conundrum Mk2 - Chris Levick
Chassis... Ali
Armour... Less said the better
Drive... 18v Drills with custom gearboxes
Power... Heavy NiCads @ 24v
Control... IBC  not happy...
Weapon ... 2Kg EV Warrior powered drum.
Ive put an old picture on my profile, new bits that have been added since last time people seen it are a new balanced drum, one piece milled sides and better axle supports. As for shape its really just a wedge.
Chris - ^_^
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
looks nice! Whats wrong with the IBCs? Ive been running one with two astros for over a year now and i havnt even got it warm!
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Tronic one is a dutch pushbot. it uses 2 drillmotors on 18V and has a hdpe armour.
Sidewinder as speedcontroller.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
tronic is cool saw it at riat
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Tronic one is one of those keep it coming robots. :)
Not much of a threat to other robots, the best it can do is push you in the pits. But at the same time it can take all the punishment you can dish out. And its shape is ideal for catching little spinner. :)

UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Little X2 is entered not Little Spinner 2 or Litter Hitter 2 :)
Graeme repaired the Gearbox on LS2 (3 times faster than before) but the Mag was drawing 100 Amps continous, put some Gaffer tape over the bar to make it more Aero-dynamic and this fell to 60 Amps. This will not last 3 minutes so more is needed, if we have time, but at the moment Big Nipper is getting an overhaul. So you will just have to wait to see what Little X2 is, could even be something new :) you never know.
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Lol Ewan, that aint hornet :)
That was mini rover, my entrant in the UKRG and after cheesing me off its now a tool box
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
Er... Easy mistake
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
lol, hornet is a mini verson of his heavy on his profile :)
-
UK Champs 2006 Featherweight Competition
I just hope the heavy doesnt cheese me off. Dont really want to lug a 50kg tool box around :)
