Charging hawkers
Ok I am looking at how I am going to charge my 13Ah hawkers. I currently have 2 500mA chargers which are great if I have a couple of days to spare but I want to be able to charge them quicker.
What are the potential problems of using a bench top power supply unit?
Where is the best/cheapest place to get a decent charger?

Tried Technobots?
Providing the supply is constant voltage you shouldnt have a problem... From what I know the hawkers are very good with charging and can be constant current charged too.

Long as you dont go above 14.8v, or you start to harm the hawkers.

i have looked at technobots but sadly i dont have that much cash spare at the mo!
I would be getting a variable supply so i can set it properly. Correct me if im wrong but the charging voltage should be 13.8v?

13.8v is for maintenance charge (trickle charge)
14.2v for bulk charge. (80%)

we charge ours with a 40A power supply at 14.7v and turn it off when the current drops to 1Amp.

I charge mine with an Wheelchair charger.

Alan, I take it that the 40A power supply you are refering to is the one you can buy from technobots?

I have a DC powersupply of 44.7V capable of supplying 11 Amps. Did a wonderfull job on the Hawker Cyclons (18 cells 8Ah)in TAN.
Now just standing in a shelve as we went to the 9Ah 12V PBQ batteries,a lot cheaper.
