Polycarbonate Tubing
Does anyone know of a possible source of polycarbonate tubing - Im looking at approximatly 80mm internal diameter and 3mm wall thickness (I cant remember the actual name of that measurement). If anyone could possibly help with this could you either post it here or email me at 99089@bwctc.northants.sch.uk.Thanks in advance for any help.

I would suggest you contact a plastic supplier such as DEP on 01462484595

Worth checking ebay - 80mm inner diameter is quite large for polycarb tubing though.

Thanks - that was part of the problem really - I havent had any problem finding up to 40mm, but beyond that I havent had much luck. But thanks so far, the more suggestions the better.

I have a supplier who can deliver it up to XXX mm diameter
Thicker wall tough

How much thicker? It doesnt matter to a great degree within reason - up to 8mm prehaps?
If possible could you give me some kind of contact details thanks. Havent had any luck on eBay - they only appear to have sheets, Ill be getting onto DEP later (or possibly just my schools DT technician might)
Thanks for the help, any other suggestions are welcome (my schools policy on cost of DT products is as little as possible)

like 10mm for a 100mm od tube.
But Im afraid cost is prohibitive.

could you try heating and rolling a sheet, then melting it to itself? Just an idea.

Despite not being transparent and possibly heavier than polycarbonate? it might be worth alook. If your looking for robustness then the large gas mains pipe, which is a form of either HDPE or Nylon not sure im not a materials expert, might be ok. I use a smaller dia pipe of the same material on my featherweights drum.

The pale yellow stuff is PolyPropylene.
Bright yellow is colored HDPE.
HDPE is lighter than polycarbonate.

Sorry about the delay in replying: been in Cornwall for a funeral since Thursday afternoon.
As for what it is, it is kind of difficult toexplain without explaining my entire DT A-level project in detail, but as brief as I can possibly put it, its for the cylindrical body of a belt mounted container for specialised medicine (eg. diabetes allegeries etc) for use in outdoor activity. Unusual concept I know, but its been modified by my teachers so many times that there is nothing elft of the original idea, lol.
Theres no reasons it couldnt be made of soemthign else for the prototype really, I would just prefer it to be made of the planned materials so testing is mroe relevant.

errrmmm, tried a flask ? :)

Alex, 80mm diameter hlding to a belt? Thats not very comfortable.
Also, polycarbonate isnt exactly the best material for medical purposes. Especialy not if there are nooks and groves that promote bacteria growth.
Like Simon says, A flask is a better form to store something in a belt.
Could you mail me the specs? Maybe I have some other solution.

The idea was that I would be making a flask type item, and the polycarbonate was for the hard outer casing rather than the actual contents.
I will later (when I can find it all) but its a bit late to make any major changes really.
To be honest I never liked this project to start off with but by the time I realised what Id got myself into it was too late to change it to somethign else...
Anyway Ill start puting those together - what kind of stuf do you want?
