Ed said (40 miles in less than 20 hours - Im mad)
Has he or anyone, seen the commando exercise that one of the Blue Peter presnters did. [30 miles in full kit in 8 hours (I think).]
-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
My fastest time for the 40 miles, carrying about half what the army would carry is just over 14 hours so not to far off the Blue Peter time.
-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
ive done 40 miles in a day, every day for a week, nothing too hard really. not saying i could do it now.....
-

even worse than the Royal Marine Commando Course final march (30 miles in 8Hours in full kit 7hours if your doing the officers course)is the fact that a grown man knew about it through BLUE PETER!!! seriously dude get out more

John, ill e-mail you the system diagram and arming/disarming proceedures for wbc tonight... it should explain how it can be operated in complete safety.
If you are happy with this, and I have the PRD, is it ok to run the flipper?
Also, I notice I did no damage at all to your floor at leicester (prob the only flipper that didnt I think) so can i keep my silly red wheels please? The new ones look like metro wheels
-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
hi john, is it ok with you if i bring wbc for display, weapon test and assessment only? i have something else to test in the heavyweights.
also ill be bringing some feathers and team members of the non female type (ie, not rachel) if thats ok with you.
-

Ok only 1 day to go, we all ready for the event then or not? Hey we found the problem with the arena flipper - the dump burket was ALWAYS open. So exspect a big difference in the new Arena Flipper - hopfuly! Oh and John has some something to the arena hammer so it will do more than scratch this time.

non female team mates are pete and dan with feathers Bloody L and Elvis, and our new heavy... sorry craig, but if its any consolation im working on getting rach to get some of her mates along with a robot... not happening just yet though. :)

Well im just about ready, still wiring up because we had to rip it apart because its overweight but give it a lick of paint and itll be alright.
My tip would be dont forget your thermals as if I remember right the usual place the arena is set up, gets very cold so best bring jumpers and small/safe heaters if you can.
I may have to bring up the point that I want to fight other competitor robots not the arena its self...! :P

Great event, despite not having the robots wiring ready but next time.
I am also wondering (begging) for your help, as part of a graphics design project I am to start next week I needed to collect as many photos of the robots/arena/audience/graphics and other pictures as research. While my camera was working fine at the event when I got home, I have found out that now for no reason the memory card is blank!!!
Therefore, i am asking if you took any still pictures at the Magna event could you please provide me with a copy for my project. Either e-mail them to me (addy on profile), send them over MSN or i will even pay p&p on a burned disk full. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Twas a fun event. Tanto was robbed in the last fight, but Pussycat was obviously very popular with the kiddies.
-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
Tanto did win the last fight (we all know that) - we lost a chain very early on in the fight, hence why she wasnt her normal crazy self.. First time ever to lose a chain in Pussycat (Would be the first and only time i get my hands on her controls in 5 months). Least it was in the final fight so she could play all day long! - Worcester onwards, look out, Pussycat & Mr Stu back in town.
Was very impressed with Tanto all weekend, specialy the fight when he pushed em all in the pit :) GO Craig, keep it up mate!!!

-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
Tell me about it Karoline! ..I got home around 1:20AM!
That said It was a good event, and so nice to see the return of the great Alan Gribble and Pussycat!! Hope its the first of many Alan!
Evilution was on form as usual.. Sorry Tony, hope its fixable!
Many thanks to Ian (Ewe 2) for the crash course in full pressure pneumatics and all the help with Dantomkias gas leak!
And for those of you who saw the test of the new Scorpion...be afraid..very faraid!! (Now, what do we do with the spare 10.5Kg of weight that we seem to have aquired?)
-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
Next event at Worcester is 196 miles each way but at least I can have an overnight stay before plodding home.
Geoff, I thought you were already a good authority on HP pneumatics? Youve only ever had one simple rule......
Avoid it like the plague!
-
18th March 2006 - Roaming Robots At Magna
