Would sponge on top of a featherweight come under Entanglement devices?
Are we talking your common or garden bath sponge here.. or something like high density neoprene foam?
(Or even some of Jennys sponge cake...That stuff could pass as reasonable armour!!) :proud:
Normal bath sponge or car sponge nothing fancy.
Dont think that would fall foul of rule 12.2.1
But I cant see what advantage you would gain from having something that soft on your machine.
It wont be playing part of any advantage. just say it would be part of the decouration :proud:
tried it aat eds show in... milton keynes?? I forget, you may remember it though, against little hitter. burnt my controller out??? (i blame the foam not my incompitent helper)
oh yeah, youll remember the event more for the people i brought, I was in a really bad mood with wayne and you all met rachel...
Could try mounting metal/plastic plates atop a foam/sponge layer for ultimate super-spinner impact absorbtion, but chances are itd just get torn to pieces... :)
I just buy more sponge :D thank god for staff discount
i think that when it comes off and gets stuck in the opponent it could be considered an entanglement weapon
If your machine cant deal with a bath sponge, then I think you need to seriously consider if your machine has any business being in the arena in the first place!!! :)
lol... imagine that who did you loose too oh i didnt it was a bath sponge
Beware of its absorbing power!
lol yup abosorbing water at least!

Ummm... Maybe something for an axe to retract on? Its not very technical but it sure is cheap.
Abosorbing water from your opponents tears :)
dont laugh Geoff, if that sponge comes off and disables your nice 2 astro powered blade, youll think differently :)
Uh oh *hides* Im scared now but the sponge is staying
I love Geoffs comment.... thats why at the 2004 Roaming Robots Winter Tour, Scorpion JR got beaten by the nice, cute, pink, TOY PIG!
Mr Stu
Fair point Stu, but there is one hell of a diference between a strong fabric covered, fiber filled soft toy and a lump of bath sponge!
(Although I dont think even the pink pig would stand up to the new disk!)
anyone tried painting sponge? if so what paint would you recommend LOL
Ask the Kronic lads, they have sponge spikes!
Fair point Stu, but there is one hell of a diference between a strong fabric covered, fiber filled soft toy and a lump of bath sponge!
sorry geoff, are you saying that you could beat a lowly sponge, but that pig was a tough, beasty and worthy opponent?
never seen anyone brag up a toy pig so much :)
Hey whats wrong with sponge??
It was indeed a worthy opponent James!!
This was the very same pig that took more than a good few hits from Terrorhurtz and came out with barely a dirty mark on it!! (and also won more points on the winter tour than some real robots!..Stu can confirm!!)
So the moral of this tale is...
If you want what is probaly the best armour in the world... Cover your robot with stuffed pink pigs!
(dont even think of going there Bex!!) :)
Hehehe i think i might do that! :proud: Mmmmm thanks for that idea Geoff
