Just a notice from me - driving around the M42 alot to go to and from my Uni - the big massive signs where they tell you if theres delays or what not - well all week the signs have been saying theres a BIG event at the NEC from the 4th November till 6th November and the M42 is exspecting LONG delays for most of the day. So you might just want to prepare for it and maybe ad an extra 30 mins onto your travel time.

Great event, even tho i wasnt feeling well  All of our bots are now through to the finals :) i think well done to Gordon as well, who i think is the first to blow a Sidewinder controller! Only a few weeks to get the robots ready for the final, lets hope Jonno gets the floor fixed after that final fight!

Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to say well done to the winners, and thanks for another great round to the tour.
Not long now until the final.
Bits and bobs will be updated this week, including confirmation of the finalists and details for folkestone.
Might be a bit of a delay as I have a full week with my schools. But ill do my best.

Well..... Pillow was sent to bed without supper for misbehaving but at least she did enough to qualify. Never mind, its all sorted now and were fully fit for Folkestone. Mind you, Geoff narrowly espcaped being put in the doghouse for shoving in a new vantec and thinking everything would be OK (LOL- hysterically)
Had loads of fun though and apologise to Gilbert for not bring my bear behind on this occasion

David, did you film the melee in the first session that Ka-Pow! was in? I missed most of it trying to concentrate on driving. Still ended up stuck on the pit...
Great event- Id forgotten how loud they are indoors- and some excellent fights. Ka-Pow! continues to improve. Now if we can just stop the arm from bending...
-
6th November 2005 - RR Winter Tour Qual 4 - Birmingham
John, that armbending is the reason I did think about the Gravity setup.... It works nicely I must admit.

6th November 2005 - RR Winter Tour Qual 4 - Birmingham
Yep, its a good solution to the problem, although theres still practical issues implementing the tethering/ retarding ropes and it doesnt give a powered retract, which we prefer. In practice the flipper is really too powerful when run flat out at 30 bar- if it got right under an opponant I think it would get them worryingly close to the lighting rig in the RR arena. In practice I expect well do a combination of things; shorten the arm slightly, experiment with ropes or straps and turn down to 15-20 bar or so.
