Ok, the XFM website tells me its at a school but whats its name and address?
-
29th/30th Oct - XFM Halloween Spooktacular, Colchester
Do you think theres any chance of money (perhaps some of the prize money...) being used to cover some of the travel costs (i.e. £25 quid a team that turn up to cover travel)? All this travelling is nearly as expensive as the robots themselves!

Ewan, we should consider our selves lucky over on the other side of the pond it costs money to take part not the other way around!
-
29th/30th Oct - XFM Halloween Spooktacular, Colchester
Karoline yes correct, we cryptically put the details of the venues were at in a section on the website called Venue Info.....
As for spending prize money on travel money, if people would rather splitting the prize money across all the attending teams perhaps thats something to talk about at the next event face to face rather than on the forum ?

129th/30th October - XFM Halloween Spooktacular, Colchester, Essex
Sitting on the south side of Colchester in Essex is the venue for the XFM Halloween Spooktacular show. Currently being redeveloped this school will soon be one of the most modern secondary schools in the area.
Their main hall provides XFM with its spooky location for this fantastic event. The school is located just off the A12, for a detailed map click here
Yeah! Thats cryptic alright!
BTW 129th October???? Now that IS spooky :proud:

Karolines already posted the address, which I confirmed was right. The website has a link to a map, which ties in perfectly with the address Karoline posted above - to reiterate the address again though....

BTW as far as having different schools in one street..... where I went to school there was St Margarets Junior, Ifield Community College which consisted of Henry Pelham & Sarah Robinson Schools, there is also Manor Green Special School, Manor Green Primary and The Mill Primary.
As for me I attended St Mandys Reform School for Very Strange Girls.

Just wanted to add my congratulations to the Scorpion boys, certainly was an amazing final with Little Hitter really going for it all out right from the start.
I cant extend my thanks enough to the teams that took part, you all looked fantastic, so much hard work had gone into the robots makeup and into your costumes I was just worried that XFM might end up letting you all down !
Hopefully though we managed not to, and it was certainly a great end to the programme of events for this year for us. If anyone hasnt yet booked their place at the XFM Cast and Crew Christmas meal drop me a mail, weve already got loads coming - but weve no problem with as many coming as want to..... youve certainly all earnt it this year.
Take care all, and thanks again

...unfortunatly for the rest of us Evil is still alive. Of course - it WAS Halloween! Congrats to John and Geoff for a well deserved win.
Phew it was hot there! Being in costume and full face make-up was extremely uncomfortable but credit to the many kids who came along in fancy dress too - they were great.

All, in my haste I totally forgot to award the prize for the best dressed team - was so busy giving away freebies into the audience I forgot to give out the team prize.
After much deliberation between myself, Bob and Rick we decided that the prize had to be shared between the Big Nipper team (though I use that word loosly to describe most of the Big Nipper family who attended) - robots were painted and they had matching costumes.... and also the Pillow Torque girls Jenny, Karoline and Tanja who all looked scary enough even to frighten off the most hardened roboteer !.
Will get your prizes to you asap guys - and apologies again for forgetting !

29th/30th Oct - XFM Halloween Spooktacular, Colchester
Lol, that Matilda fight looked great - all this talk of entry class featherweights yet all you need to do is simply put an RC toy into the arena to win :)
-
29th/30th Oct - XFM Halloween Spooktacular, Colchester
Mark you were right, the motor in DB5 that took an axe hit from Little Hitter still works. Was quite surprised really as there isnt much left of the broken magnet.
-
29th/30th Oct - XFM Halloween Spooktacular, Colchester
Shane ( DIZZY TILLY ) started fighting with his matilda toy ... Called Tilly and faught over 40 fights with her and literally took all that the featherweights could throw at her and still kept going and going and going and going ... despite coming out of the arena in pieces on more than 1 occasion ..... now retiered from compeeting due to me finally building him proper featherweights to fight with ... even now in 4 pieces she still works and would still enter the arena just a little gaffa tape and shes ready to run ... so it is possable to fight with toys but alas the novelty soon wears off and you begin to want to win ... so you will soon build a real one to fight with im sure ..... but as to the matilda toy ... THERE WILL ONLY EVER BE ONE TILLY
