Go get some £9.99 drill motors, there really cheap and should be easy enough for you to build a feather weight from. Form B&Q, homebase, argos? And you get battreies and cahrger with it as well.
Mr Stu
Is the forum going to have a beginners section?
I think so. Same questions over and over.
No disrespect Joshua. Just have a good old read through the many previous threads on how to get started. Thats how i leant most about featherweights. Good luck.
Hi Josh. You will find lots of great info if you click on search up in the top right corner of the screen and search for motor in the featherweight thread.
And please be welcome to visit live events. There is no better lesson than a hands-on session.
True. I showed Jonno my design plans at Preston and made a lot of progress. And he made it sound a lot simpler than I thought it was :)
btw Josh: check out my threads in this forum, theyre about the basic electronics and mechanics of a pusher bot.
hi,
u can pick windscreen wiper motors at a scrap heap, they will be cheap.thats what ive done. And if u want spead controllers, go on UKrobotics/index.htm
For a body, ali is the cheapest and easiest to work with, again, can be picked up from a scrapheap
dont worry about a weapon yet, just get the basics done
jacob
since when did dom sell speed controllers???
Thats what i was thinking ewan, theres not even any listed in the surplus componenets section. Either were all missing something or Doms got a secret site that only new roboteers can see :)
I think Jacob means that page where it shows you how to build a speedo .
come to think of it, microswitch controllers shouldnt really be called speedos - afterall they dont give speed control :)
Most roboteers i know use their speedos as solid state relays anyway. :)
It has sorta become slang now i think :)
it does give u speed control ewan :)
it gives u speed (on and off) and control over it (do you want it on or off) = speed controller
Speed control is to adjust the rate of motion. Since ON/OFF is deciding whether something is in motion or not, it might not neccessarily be a speed controller. Really an Academic question that, not to mention almost irrelevant.
Personally, I dont care, I have an IBC speedo and my Microswitch Control Interface right here.
