You basically need 1 channel for each servo, so basically, a ant with 2 wheel drive (2 servos) and a weapon (1 servo) would need a 3 channel R/C set.
Have a look at the ant shop and forum at http://www.robotwars101.orgwww.robotwars101.org

Yes I think that 2 servos would all be on 1 stick but I dont think it is legal to use a 72mhz frequency in the UK for a ground vehcle. I think it has to be 40mhz or 27mhz.

Both of those links seem to go to the same place, but the product looks fine and I think it is the one I use. Although if you need to buy in the UK it is an American site.

http://www.train-and-track.co.uk/control/radio/radio.htmhttp://www.train-and-track.co.uk/con...adio/radio.htm
i found it on a english site
would the servos that come with it be good enough or would they need replacing?
-
Help im sooooooooooo confused
The servos would be fine, but I belive they weigh 43g which is way to heavy for an Antweight.
Generally you do not want servos heavier than about 25g.

Help im sooooooooooo confused
ok thanks
ive got a good idea of what to do now
if the weapon is a spinner, it just needs annother servo to spin it, but wot about an ax or flipper?
-
Help im sooooooooooo confused
If it is a spinner then you will need a motor to spin it as a servo will not be powerful or fast enough (although for your first ant, I do not recommend building a spinner).
If you want an axe or flipper then an unmodified servo attached to the arm of the axe/flipper will do just fine. You could try pneumatics, but for your first ant again, I dont recommend it.
Dont forget that normal servos do not spin through 360 degrees so you will need to modify them to use for the drive of your ant.

Ni-MH 4.8V Square 1300mAh £ 7.06ex £ 8.29 inc (Euro 11.89)
RRP £9.99
3700-010
Weight: 0.12 kg
is this ok for a abattery
-
Help im sooooooooooo confused
and what about batterys for the reciever?
-
Help im sooooooooooo confused
0.12kg= 120g= 4/5ths the weight of an antweight.
The same battery can be used to power the servos as is used to power the receiver.
From technobots look at the 300mah Ni-mh cells. You will have to join them together yourself but they will weigh about 30g which is ok for an antweight.

Help im sooooooooooo confused
well if you dont know then youd be better off buyong a pre built pack:
http://www.overlander.co.uk/detail.asp?categoryid=52&offset=25&ID=303http://www.overlander.co.uk/detail.a...fset=25&ID=303
and before you ask it does not matter whether its square or flat just pick the one that suits your design best.

Help im sooooooooooo confused
Hi Matty
First of all, as someone said before, we cant answer after only three minutes, second, if you have something more to say in your post, you have about 10 minutes to adit.
Becuase it is your first ant, go for two channel reciver/transmitter, and after the time you get to learn how to upgrade your antweight. If you look reallt carefully at the previous posts you can see many helpful links. In the begining you get all these big thoughts about great weapons and design, but after the time youll notice that its not as easy as you first thought.
Ive been building ants for 4 years now, and started with a simple design, and I still havent got any experince about building Antweight spinners! But my suggestion is the great word, K.I.S.S (=Keep It Simple Stupid) (no offence on the last word)
Hope this help!
