4th/5th June - XFM Featherweight Challenge, Ipswich
XFM Featherweight Series - Suffolk
The first weekend in June sees the second official date of the XFM Featherweight Challenge, held in a 1000sqm venue just outside Ipswich in Suffolk.
As with the kick-off Cambridge event, each show is a self contained event for the audience attending and will feature the new XFM Featherweight arena - fully polycarbed to 4m in height Battlebox style, and packed with effects this arena has been designed from the ground up to show the featherweight class at its best - and yes you can throw people OOTA !
As with the format for the Cambridge event, the event is fully underwritten and there will be prizes from £250 down for the winners and runners up in the event.
Further public and Roboteer information will be posted over the coming weeks, but again we wanted to let the roboteers know about this series of events as soon as we were in a position to confidently announce it.
If youre interested in coming, please feel free to post in the thread below, and well update you with news as it comes.

Just to let people know - tickets have now gone on sale for these events, plus it looks like were going to be full of bots, so if theres anyone else deliberating, Id apply sooner rather than later.

Final information has now been sent out to all the teams coming along to this event. Weve got around 20 robots attending and could potentially fit in one or two more if people want to come along. If so, please just drop me a mail.
Looking forward to a good week !

Well weve sold out (again) our allocation of tickets, so weve enlarged the shows to accomodate more audience (sadly we couldnt get the government to turn Monday into a bank holiday to run more shows!) so alls looking good. Im just about to head down to the venue now - hope its going to be a good weekend :o)

Just got back from a tiring week of robots - had to miss the final show on sunday to get back to Bristol im afraid. I had a good time at the Suffolk show (although I did manage to blow an IBC ... for the third time!) a BIG thankyou to Ed for letting me borrow his IBC for the weekend, and no Ed, I didnt fry it :).
Action! (the 4wd vertigo) had some good fights at Ipswich, particularly against Little Hitter and MicroChip. In some bizzare twist I understand that dizzy tilly survived an onslaught from the Magmotor-equiped little spinner, so congrats to Shane & co. Big thanks to the crew for putting on a good show, Daves (well and Sian on the plug!) tesla coil was pretty damn impressive too.
Just a small suggestion though, please do make the competition fight board and draws more clear. A white board and arena fight-draws (like Cambridge) may help.
Hope you all got home well, I understand some of you had ridiculously long car journeys ahead.

Just got back after a 6 hour drive, luckily for me my dad was driving so I got some sleep on the way back.
Yet another great event from XFM and yes the Tesla coil was something to watch.

We will have our revenge soon :)

4th/5th June - XFM Featherweight Challenge, Ipswich
Hi all, can I just say a huge thankyou to all the teams who took part this weekend, both at the Suffolk Show during the week and at XFM Ipswich over the weekend. Emails have been flooding in from the audience this morning wanting to know when the next show will be and weve also had loads of interest from people wanting to have a go at building !
Also, huge congratulations go to Team Tilly and their robot Dizzy Tilly for winning the XFM competition and taking away the prize money. When we announced it Shane fell to his knees crying and Ive never heard an audience share someones enjoyment for the sport anywhere before. Yet again we ended up selling out shows and had to get more seats brought in by the venue to accomodate the extra tickets that were sold. The XFM model seems to be working very well, with the £5 ticket price resulting in a great value show which people can afford to bring their friends and family along to.
XFMs taking a break over summer from the full-on events, but well be back in September in Norwich for which signups are already open along with a few changes here and there.
From myself, Rick and Bob a huge thank-you goes out to all the teams that took part and please visit http://www.extremefightingmachines.com/applications.htmlhttp://www.extremefightingmachines.c...lications.html to sign up to our upcoming events.

Yes the 6 hour drive back was a killer.
Anyway it was a great event. My son Gaz said it was the best hed been to.
Little Flipper firing microCHIP way up high to land nose first and stuck deep in the floor was our highlight!

Great Show I may be a bit biased but one of the best fights was Scorpion Evo v DragonStrike Disc to Disc and amasingly both robots were still in one piece at the end of the fight well mostly in one piece.

Great event, one of the best events ive been to in 6 years, there were some great fights and lots of damage. DB5 got a nice bashing from Scorpian Evo but should be fixed for next weekend. Highlight for me was the Little Spinner vs Batter Bot fight. Thanks Ed and co hope I (and the rest of the team!) can attend the next XFM event.

Great event - I got my souvenir from the Scorpion Evo/DragonStrike fight. Happy to hear both robots are in one piece as am I :) Spent some of my Sunday afternoon with my head stuck inside Rampage (dont ask!). Ian, I hope I was more of a help than a hinderance like I usually am
A huge hug for Shane who had the fight of his life and came out on top. Ed, you said Ive never heard an audience share someones enjoyment for the sport anywhere before You were in the arena and probably couldnt see out because of the lights but believe me that joy was shared by the roboteers too.
