30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
XFM Featherweight Series - Cambridgeshire
The first May bank holiday weekend sees the kick-off of the XFM Featherweight Challenge, a series of featherweight/educational shows touring around with this first date hosted in the center of Cambridge, the science and technology capital of the UK !
Each show itself is a self contained event for the audience attending and will feature the new XFM Featherweight arena - fully polycarbed to 4m in height Battlebox style, and packed with effects this arena has been designed from the ground up to show the featherweight class at its best - and yes you can throw people OOTA !
This series of events is fully sponsored and underwritten, meaning that each event will carry a £250 first prize - as well as a prize for the overall series winner with no reliance on an attending audience (though therell be one there of course!) - there will also be 2nd and 3rd prizes as well as trophies ! Food will be provided for attending teams, as will discounted accomodation and an organised Sat night social.
Further public and Roboteer information will be posted over the coming weeks, but we wanted to let the roboteers know about this series of events as soon as we were in a position to confidently announce it.
If youre interested in coming, please feel free to post in the thread below, and well update you with news as it comes.

Please could you confirm the format of these weekends for me. It appears that there will be a single 2 hour show each day. Will there be a chance for some decent battles outside the shows and will it be possible to take a meaningful part in the competition if I can only make it for one day?
Im very interested in the concept of another feather comp, but am very concerned that it looks as if it could be necessary to present at the venues from 11am Saturday to 4pm Sunday for very little return in the way of arena time.
Thanks

Gona have to Pull KR2 out of the event sadly, just had a few problems with the front motors, and there buggered from pratting around. So KR2 in bits and 2 duff motors and running out of time so no KR2 this weekend, maybe next time.
Though ill still be there as im working part of the XFM crew. Event looking great, list of bots going should be great fun, would have liked to fight feathers in 1v1 instead of big melees.
Good luck to everyone and see you this weekend.

All tickets for all XFM Shows have now totally sold out with a day to go before the event. This includes tickets for the extra shows that we added on the Monday. There may be some limited tickets available on the door on a first-come first-served basis due to cancellations etc.

All sounding good, and it seems KR2 may still be able to compete. Stus bringing the bot in kit form on saturday morning so he can pop a couple of new drills in. (stu - email sent)

30th April/1st May - XFM FW Challenge, Cambridge
I have managed to get hold of Two 12v Motors today and fitted them in KR2, and playied around with the electronics to limit the current on the motors, so i shouldnt be pushing them as hard as i normaly do. Though the motors i get off you Ewan wil come in as Spare as im sure ill bugger a motor up, its Kr2s way at an event. LOL!
So Kr2 will arrive at the event 90% built and ready to burn - litually! Ekkk.
Thanks Ewan, and see you tomorrow morning to take you, least we wont be fitting the motors into KR2 at the Services. LOL!!!
Cya all Tomorrow.
