or i might go with Skysport 6 Radio Set seems good any opinions??
Budget TX/RX set, Graupner X412. the most popular over here.
the 6EXA is the new version of the Skysport 6 (now discontinued). A Skysport 4 are also fine, any of these would be fine for feathers (we use the 6EXA on Merlin, the feathers on SS6 and the middle on a SS4).
we have both a sky sports 4 & 6 and i would use the ss4 over the ss6 reason being that on a servo the rotation seems to be greater on the ss4 and a lot less on the ss6. this could in turn affect the top speed of any robot under its control.
Strange.
Most Robot wars specific speedos accept no signal over 2 msec or below 1 msec or go in failsafe. A problem we had with the Multiplex TX/RX sets, as they have a sleigthly bigger bandrange. Luckely enough those are reprogramable.
James, sure you havent got the dual rates on?
i adjusted it for as much motion as i can, im sure
i just think on balance the ss4 is better, it cheeper and the buddy box mod off the pot controls works better. but this is just my findings and others may have a different experiance

I would always get a 6 channel radio purely for the weapon controls. Most roboteers prefer the option to use a switch or rotational device thingy-majig to work their weapons!
James, We have both a 4 & 6 and Ive noticed that too. The sticks on the 6 fall short of 1-2mS range but both the switch and rotating knob channels actually go slightly over this (at least with my Scope).
i hadnt tried output on a scope to prove it yet,
though i had noticed that on the switch and rotating knob channel did rotate a servo more like you say.
comparing the response from the origional thorak on a ss6 and the new one on a ss4 the newer one seems more responsive.
I got a SS4 about a year and a half ago. Its still working perfectly and its all I need really for a feather. Ive never really used more than the 4 chanels on the SS4, for a heavy SS6 is probably excellent but for feathers a SS4 is just a way of saving abit of dosh.
in all honisty we used a ss6 for our first heavy and a ss4 for the new heavy and i actually prefere the ss4, ( and its easier to mod for a buddy box ) with the exeption of using the switch channel on the ss6. but for modding on the joystick channel the 4 i found was the best
