Tag Team
What do people think about having a featherweight tag-team championship? I think this could be a very interesting idea, it would show more control, teamwork and if theres a weaker robot then the other can always help out and visa versa, if theres an unbeatable robot, the worse in the team may pull it down!
Infact, there wouldnt even need to be a tag team, just a 2 team fight, then that would really show control between the teams.
I think this would be a fun and entertaining for everyone.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks, Grantage+Daveage

i like tag-teams (maybe an idea for sunday jonno!). Alpha is a very good robot for melles but struggles in 1v1, whereas G3 is the opposite! Put G3 and Alpha in for any tags.

Tag Team
Yeh! I like the sound of that, but with one amendment. Tag-team to consist of three robots.... Horizon, Scorpion Jr and P.I.M.P2?? :proud:

Have you Pommys been reading our forum?
For those who dont know, in a bit over a week on the 3rd and 4th of july we Australians will be having an event weve called The ABBL Annihilator. The event will have 2 compititions, an annihilator and a tag-team. We plan on having 30 feather weight robots turn up to compete, which is the biggest gathering of robots in Australia so far. Im actually the one who came up with the rules for the tag-team event so maybe Ill let you blokes know who she goes.
Have you thought about an Annihilator as well?

Tag Team
Rc Wars have run Annihilators for the last 3 series of Rc Wars. The current champion is Rampage.
Maybe horizon and Scorpion Jnr, but i dont think pimp 2 is a winning machine at the moment. Although very good, its a bit too bendy.
I would have a 1-on-1 with pimp2, and i asked him at newark for one, but we never had time, lol.
I think Venom and Horizon would be the ultimate Tag-team. Venom could hold the opposition, whilst horizon smashed them to peices.
Thanks

i keep hearing of powerful spinners like omricon (I think tahts how u spell it), horizon and pimp 2 etc. there was also one i heard that had a ev warrior geared up 1:2 or something. One spinner out here named basilisk had a ev warrior driving a blade and at 12 volts was awesome power with the 2 kg steel bar. NOw he is planninn a mini mag motor and whyachi spinner gearbox in it!!!!. This was going to be his lightweight weopon drive as well. Should be interesting. Glad we finally got polycarb screening on out backyard shed arena.

Yeah, riiiiight. Basilisk. Hmmmmmm. No comment.
I was going to post this earlier, but I forgot. Basically for the way our tag team event went you pommys have got to give it a go. It was a great event some very interesting fight. Some of the tactics were a bit dodgy and the fights almost went free-for-all, but some teams clearly knew how to to do it. The winning team with a 6 wheeled pusher called Singularity and a Hori-spinner called Plan-B seemed to have the best tactics in that the pusher would leave the corner first and mix it up while the spinner got to full speed. Once the spinner was up to speed he left the corner and the pusher raced back before the 10 second changing time was up. The spinner will score a good hit and the robots would change so the spinner could re-charge. Repeat the process till the other team are reduced to parts.
Ive made a high lights clip of all the fights I recorded, but I forgot the link to it 10 seconds after posting it. As soon as I remember I put it up so you can see what Australian robots look like.

Ah, twas such a great weekend, Annihilation finally went decent, the 1.8kg spinning bar at over 4000rpm certainly made its mark on several robots. The Tag Team was a lot of fun, especially when the Spin Doctors(Myself[Annihilation] and Nick[Basilisk]) enjoyed showing people what spinners could actually do.
Hurry with the video Daniel!!!

Yeah it was alright. u call ahnialation a spinner. Please. Nothing but scratches and only damages small stuff or thin material.

Just watched the video...Not too bad...Not too bad at all!.
So, when are we going to see some of you guys over here with your machines then?
I think its about time the ABBL and the FRA had a little chat.
If you guys are intrested, get in touch and lets see what we can do.

Would denfinately be fun to fight some of those robots, they look pretty damn good!
-
Tag Team
Well Geoff, I and many others would love to compete in merry old england or even the large comps in america but theres one thing called MONEY. FLying over theres and such and transport round there and other things require ALOT of money. some guys who have jobs may want to but me being a student who puts all his money (which isnt much) into his robots its a no go.
-
Tag Team
Hey welcher, when is that pile of over weight parts of your known as scrap going to be able to do damage? Ive never seen the saw last longer then 20 seconds in a match... And now thanks to me, it doesnt work at all :proud:
Basilisk is a good spinner, but it didnt make it through any of the Stainless steel armour on any of the Rotwang robots, but hey, Annihilation with its swinging hammer mill style blades went through it like butter. Each to his own i guess :)
-
Tag Team
saw doesnt last more than 20 seconds, next time your here get nick to show u basilisks inch thick steel hammer arm which i put deep cuts into and went through his 5mm ali armour.
The rotwang armour was thin as anything and granted u went through it but so could i.
Also u did get a lucky hit on the saw motor but guess what, u lost the match didnt you and that is basically the only damage u did besides breaking a PLASTIC castor. Oh yeah, i just love winding u up.

Well when you loose the extra 1kg over weightness you have, Ill consider giving you a thrashing in a no tap out battle, or are you to chicken :proud: (Andrew was the first person to tap-out in an Australian robot battle within 20seconds of the match beginning :proud:)
Sorry for the poor UK readers who have to endure this :proud:

dont we just suffer
-
Tag Team
Nah! We dont mind reading about your feathers and your personal diferences! Its quite interesting really.
But just you guys wait till we can get one or two of our machines down there...Then well see whats worth calling scrap and what isnt!! :proud:
It WILL happen one day...Just think of it as Judgment Day!! :proud:

Hi Geoff is Scorpion Jr ready to be trashed. Revenge will be sweet.
DragonStrike is just about Finished.

Hope you take Scorpion Jr to Bristol. New feather seems to work and should give it a run for its money :) just need to think of a name.
-
Tag Team
Yep, Mark, well be at Bristol. If you want it, youll have to catch it first...Ready when you are!! :)
Tony, give it your best shot mate!! Be nice to see you win one for a change!!
-
Tag Team
Me too, I need to get you back for mangling the wheels on Micro-Maul :)
8Kj anyone?
-

What is this?... Lets dis Scorpion Jr. day or something?
Whats the harmless little thing ever done to you guys? :proud:
Ewan,
Its not just your wheels you need to worry about! :proud:
8Kj! This I gotta see!!
-
Tag Team
No its that it is a good challenge. Need something to practice on before i have a go at Eds most powerfull horizontal spinner ever
(hehe). Thats if you dont break it first.
Tony.
-
Tag Team
hehe, geoff, youll see @ Bristol (who fancies a 5 vs 1 melee? All On Scorpion Jr. :))
-
Tag Team
oh, geoff go vertical, k? :)
-
Tag Team
Geoff, everyone wants to beat the best :) (or at least the one who thinks hes the best :proud:)Catching it is not the problem it uses the same speedos as the heavy with 4 nice 30V drill motors, controlling it is a different matter :)
Did have a 3mm Ti front scoop but bent it hitting the side of the arena.
-
Tag Team
Sounds interesting Mark, looking forward to seeing that one.
What are you guys doing, breeding feathers or something? How many is that now, 3 or 4? :)
Ewan, forget what you saw at Featherweight Smash. You havent had the pleasure of being introduced to our new Astroflight powered disc yet have you?
Sees you all at Bristol, should be a lot of fun! Or very painful (For us!)
Regards,
Geoff.
-
Tag Team
lol, no I havent but PLEASE use your vertical disc :)
I like Vertical vs Horizontal :D
Mark, that sounds nasty (for us that is )

Team Storm would like to take this moment to apologise for introducing Team Scorpion to the Astroflight Motor. This was clearly something that we did without thinking the consequenses through fully and we totally expect to have rotten fruit thrown at us at the next event

I dont know about rotten fruit, how about 20 gallons of rotten egg. Just when I thought I had built a good robot for a change, you go and tell them about the Astroflight. (goes of thinking more armour more armour).
Tony.
-

i think in return Ed should give all featherweights enough Ti to protect themselves!
-

Yeah i like that idea Alan!!
Mr Stu

That or Astroflight motors of our very own :proud:

go one step better and buy one of those huge lenher brushless things!
