Next week so lets get those predictions in!
Well I think the winner will either be Dantomkia, Bigger Brother or Behemoth. Least likely to win would be Panic Attack (Ive nothing against them, I just think they wont survive against other flippers)
Now, I dont as yet know the line up, I heard its done like a Series 7 heat, so heres what I think.
Behemoth
This robot has a good chance of winning. I missed the annihilator/HRR, so I dont know how well it did, but I heard it was still alive at the end. Ill catch it next time. Anyways, unless their stupid link falls out again, they could do very well. The only problem could be the Srimech failing again.
Bigger Brother
After their performance last time in the All-Stars, Bigger Brother could do very well. In fact, they are one of my favourites to win. Low ground clearance AND a powerful flipper could give them that edge. The only problem is, what if the other robots gang up on him?
Dantomkia
Another favourite to win this all-stars. And of course, theyve fixed all the problems that happened last time (reliability, batteries dieing, power link falling out), could do well unless that high(ish) ground clearance is noticed.
Firestorm
Youd expect me to go for them, wouldnt you? It is, indeed a good robot, but with all those back hinged flippers, it could have a problem. It may do well, and it doesnt have Razer to worry about, but I dont trust it to do well
Kat 3
Like the Colour, like the outfits, like the axe, like the team (purr), hate the chances Im afraid.
King B Powerworks
Have they recovered from their IG88 attack? I dont think so, and they may lose early if they dont stay away from trouble. Or Panic Attack. Or Pussycat. How dare you copy them!!!
Panic Attack
Again, youd expect me to go for them. I heard they fight Firestorm in the first round, and I know the result, but I wont spill the beans. However, without a srimech, and with a different driver, I dont fancy their chances.
Pussycat
This would outshine Kat 3 any day. That blade isnt as effective as it used to be I fear, and I think their time is nearly up. Sorry.
Behemoths Srimech worked in the house robot rebellion
and I think their time is nearly up
Im sorry but - thats not nice.
Have to wait and see.
Mr Stu
Team Cold Fusion - Pussycat
What a lot of colourful robots! And lots of chunky bits for Pussycat to sink her blades into
Maybe, but, like I said, I have yet to see the HRR. Please read it.
And sorry, but Pussycat is rather old now
It still works :-) Dont dismiss it- stu drives it like its a natural extension of his body.
And she is one of the very few robots who are able to inflict serious damage upon Tough As Nails (happened on a live event...)!
I suspect most robots could damage TaN (or anything else) given long enough and a bit of thinking time. Nonetheless, Im intrigued - what did PC do to it?
My only live experience of TaN was it not running at last years Debenham, which was a great shame - my sympathy for the wasted travel tickets. The Dutch roboteers made an impression with the Little Chef on the A12, though (I went in on the way back, said where Id been [while scrounging a pull-back toy] and got told theyd been in).

Fluppet
It was at Deb, i gave Tan 3 big whacks at their behind after flying over the top of their claws, turned around and gave em 2 big whats of the big huge ram at the back. Mario tells me they had to take the ram apart from re weld parts etc, the ram ceased to work again at Deb right Babs? Not sure.
Drives her like a natural extension of his body - hmmm one way of putting it. Put the name of the bot with ur sentance and well - hmmm - not going any further.
Just wait till Sunday, i dont drive her that bad
Mr Stu
Stu, never again can you accuse me of being dirty minded.
Perhaps people are so keen to write off Pussycat because of its poor performance in series 7, and that it was (recently) beaten by...Chompalot!!! And seeing it chucked out of the arena in Extreme 2 certainly didnt help, but who knows, they could do well, cos a good design can work for a long long time, just look at Biohazard and Razer.
Stu has been having practice, as every young man with an inquisitive mind, active fantasy and two strong hands should in the presence of a joystick.
The damage Pussycat did to TAN was on the ram.
a few scratches in the 6mm thick part, but on the place I milled away 3mm, to keep the weight in chech, 2 dents so deep the ram had troubles passing by. I repaired those by welding the dents, and polishing the parts on the inside so the piston can pass by again.
After this we still are looking to gain a kilo, so we can weld a hardox plate to it.
Andrew, TAN wasnt running in Deb/bentwaters due arial/recievertroubles.
Yes, I remember there being a lot of trouble with it (as I said, I felt very sorry for you guys about it). ISTR it twitched once or twice but that was the best that was managed on either day. I think I remember Pulverizer doing better, but I could have imagined it. I have some photos, anyway.
I was in Debenham on the Sunday of 2002 and dont remember seeing it (mind you, I dont remember Pussy Cat running at all, it being after Davids accident). Was this on the Saturday, or in 2001?
A plate on the back would be a good thing - however thick it is, I always thought the ram was a bit exposed to being bent.

Sounds like another biased line-up to me - 4 veteran flippers and 4 non-flippers who will probably be nothing but cannon fodder for them (no offence to those teams, but I think thats the intention, given the past nature of these one-off events). And why is Kat 3 in there?
Anyway, in a flipper-dominated battle theres only one winner - Firestorm every time, guaranteed.
Dont diss Kat 3 , such a great bot to watch and the team are All stars, great team. Not saying nothing else - just stop dissing teams and watch the show.
Mr Stu
Kat is ok but nothing special. It is too similar to the once unique Dominator 2 (are they going to come back some time )...
not being biased are u stu:0
Nope - Kat 3 is a great team.
Mr Stu
They are. Ive always wanted to meet the Kat 3 team.
And Stephen, dont get your hopes too high with Firestorm.
Mr Stu, do you know the first round line-up, and can you tell us please? This will make predictions a lot easier.
what I saw in that thing on sunday was that it was
Firestorm vs Bigger Brother vs Panic Attack vs ???
Kat 3 vs ??? Vs ??? Vs ???
useful aint I :proud:
Stu: I wasnt dissing them, I just thought that the Allstars was for high-achieving robots (which Kat 3 isnt), not just the celebrity teams.
mc_blue: Dominator II pulled out of the 7th war at the last minute with technical problems (a broken base I believe) - they were to be the 6th seed - so if there is another war they should be back.
Chris: Firestorm has the lowest ground clearance of all, hence it wins every time against other robots with flippers. If youve seen its previous battles against the likes of Bigger Brother and Dantomkia (which were one-sided affairs) youd be saying the same.
I am saying one of the cats will win
That is either Kat 3 or Pussycat, out of those two I would say Pussycat to get a judges decision.
Sorry Stephen, but I really, really, REALLY think Firestorm wont do well. Of course, if we had the full line up, I might be able to make proper guesses.
MCBlue, Two robots pulled out at the last minute for series 7. Dominator 2 had to pull out and I think Stephen has the right answer, so they should be back if there is another war. Thankfully, RW were able to find a replacement seed.
Unfortunatly, the second robot, Terrorhurtz, pulled out at the very last SECOND due to being unable to get the robot together, and at such a stage that a replacement seed would not be possible. Hopefully, theyll be back too.
Dave S, if there are any Roboteers Id really like to meet in real life, they would be Stuart Barnwell from team Pussycat (rather than talking to him on here) and both the girls from Kat 3. I hope youre prediction is correct.
I also really hope we get to see the Behemoth-Pussycat fight weve been waiting for for ages.
Christopher - thats really nice - hope to meet you as well. :) Maybe come to a live event that both me and Kat 3 are at - there good at making boys feel welcome those Kat 3 girls. :proud: - Also remember Julie from Kat 3 is my Robot Wars Mum. LOL! (Bryan from Tornado is my dad).
Ok if you lot asked- im sure you saw most who were in round 1 on the preview anyway....
Melee 1 - Dantomkia, Behemoth, Pussycat, King B
Melee 2 - Kat 3, Firestorm, Bigger Brother, Panic Attack
Round 2 - LOL!! wait and see.
Mr Stu
there good at making boys feel welcome those Kat 3 girls
certain members of my team who shall remain nameless can vouch for that :)
mason, terrhurtz pulled out ages before filming five just wanted to make a big deal about it
YAH!!! THE BEHEMOTH-PUSSYCAT FIGHT WEVE BEEN WAITING FOR IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!!!
*calms down*
OK, the All stars is always gonna be more difficult than regular competition, but still...here goes nothing.
Melee 1
I doubt King B will last long, but its really between the other three. Now I know, Ill just go with Behemoth and Pussycat on sheer experience (they did badly in RW7, but they are much better than Dantomkia IMO)
Melee 2
Again, I dont think Kat 3 will last too long, but they could still pull an upset or two. But, with Panic Attack and Bigger Brother in together, both holding a grudge against it, Firestorm is in SERIOUS trouble. No, sorry girls, but I have to pick PA and BB
From there on in, I think it will go
Pussycat vs Bigger Brother
Behemoth vs Panic Attack
Where Pussycat beats BB and Behemoth beats PA
Then the fight weve been waiting for for so long. Pussycat vs Behemoth. Who wins? Who knows!
I think Bigger Brother and Firestorm will have no trouble in melee 2 (they have lower ground clearances and the other two have self-righting trouble) so expect it to be over quickly, but in melee 1 anyone could go through - as King B and Pussycat are very slippery and difficult to finish off, Behemoth is good but has self-righting trouble and Dantomkias ground clearance on the sides leaves it open to attack from anything. Expect all 4 robots to survive and the judges to decide.
I still think Firestorm will win though. (unless Chriss Firestorm will not win comments are a spoiler in disguise)
martyn,
Thz didnt pull out ages before the filming, they just never showed up and didnt answer any calls. And when they finally arrived they had their robot in pieces !!!
Thz is not the kind of robot you bodge toghether in a couple of days. Its very likely John was working franticly on it, but just couldnt make it in time. And instead of just staying away, he made an effort to show up.

I just happened to be present at the spot when they showed up during the qualifications for the tech-check that every Seed had to undergo and they admitted that their robot was not ready. Unless they are VERY good liars I perceived their dismay as being genuine.
Yes, they actually only appeared because they were sure 5 would make something of it. John Reid actually said so himself.
