Roaming Robots, Folkestone 29th / 30th May 2004
The Dominator 2, and Cruncher team, working with Roaming Robots bring you a
€œGive it Large€œ Robot Weekend.
Set in a stunning venue directly on the sea front, next the Folkestone Harbour at Lees Cliff Hall, this promises to be a stunning Event, and the first one so far south for Roaming Robots.
A 2 day event, indoor, with 400 tickets for each of the 6 shows, and different format to usual.
Accomodation will be provided, probably one of the hotels opposite the venue, offers a perfect location, including the Saturday entertainment.
This event is going to be subject to limited places available on a first come first served basis for 30 teams. And if tickets sell as planned there may be, fuel, and appearance money available.
The will be a website constructed for this event, for accomodation sign up purposes.
Lots more information to come, but for now you can either email me, or leave your details on the forum.
Thanks
Jonno

just got home from the rumble, I have to say it was one of the best in many ways weve been to! Both Bryan & Mike make great compares (sp?), the arena was really well lit, and there was a great atmosphere, a real fun event, I havent had so much to laugh about at a rumble for ages. did terrahertz have to pay for the arena?!!
This was the first roaming robots event wed been to, if theyre all like that, well try to get to a lot more, especially any in the london/kent/essex area.
Well done to all involved, great stuff!

I would just like to thank everyone for there help and assistance. Especially to Steve from Roaming Robots for helping us get through what must have been the longest tech check in the history of robotic combat. Thanks to Mike for lending us a pressure relief valve and to Mario for fitting it and to everyone else, whos names I either dont know or cant remember, that helped us to get up and running. Thanks to the organisers and crew, it was an absolutely brilliant weekend. The bad news being, we learnt so much new information that well be spending the next few weeks re-designing and re-building the robot. Thanks again to everyone.

Roaming Robots, Folkestone 29th / 30th May 2004
Just woke up, man we arrived at my home at 3.30 this morning...
It was great ! So many nice things/people to see, so much damage to repair.
Leo with Splinter and Erich & Jochen with Tsunami are on a Dutch event today, we decided to take a serious nap instead. I know from the talks on the ferry that everybody enjoyed the event very much, most certainly the Germans who now have acquired a taste for life eventing and have become more confident of their robots being able to perform well at the Worldchampionships if they get selected !
The Plunderbirdboys were great as usual, although at the ferry we needed to explain the Sir K/Giraffe joke in detail to Susanna of team Delldog before she finally understood the joke and collapsed in helpless laughter.
The venue was beautiful (thank God and the architect for elevators !) and we wish to thank the organisers for hard work well done. The accomodations were wonderful (how big is the chance of meeting a Chef in an English hotel speaking Dutch while serving you food ?) and a lovely sea-view room we had !
*snore* - wake up oh lovely sunrise *snore*
*snore* - wake up bl##dy seagulls, wheres that grenade-thrower when you need it ? *snore*
*snore* - wake up hmm... nice blue sky *snore*
*snore* - wake up why did I program the Muppett Show tune in my cell phone to wake us up with ? AAARRGGHH !!! Kill it ! Kill it !
Pictures will be online by tomorrow night ( http://users.pandora.be/P3/Folkestonehttp://users.pandora.be/P3/Folkestone ). Not today. Today I will recover and recuperate. Today Im not going to do anything more complicated than eat, drink, watch a movie and go back to bed again.

You mean the plunderboys are still using that joke?
-
Roaming Robots, Folkestone 29th / 30th May 2004
Yep, even after all these years.......
My apologies to Andy K that I ran away before saying hi, I had one eye on my little son holding onto 2 of the best seats in the house.
Funniest sight - standing in the foyer watching a mum carrying the top cover of Scorpion 2 out the door. But none of us had the pleasure of seeing Geoff driving topless though :proud:

Had a fun weekend. Ive just come back from the garage after inspecting the damage done by TerrorHurtz..... The good news is that John has straightened my flipper, bad news is we will probably now have to rename EWE2 to either Salt or Pepper...Ill let you all know when I have counted the axe holes in my 3mm steel again!
Good fun though :proud:

Only just had chance to get to my PC. The Major Tom Team Had a great time. It was the first live event wed been to and we didnt stop laughing all weekend.
The only trouble now is its wetted our appetite to do more events!
Great atmosphere and good to talk to some real roboteers rather than just the muppets at work.
I think we will be fitting some wings onto Major Tom for future fights!
