F.R.A Scotland and north east
Hi lads and lassies would you like to attend the first meeting of the F.R.A in Scotland. This will be an opportunity for roboteers north of everybody else to come along and have their say in shaping the future of robot combat. Venue and time for this will be set to accommodate the people attending so please add to this post and i will contact you. This is hoped to be a fun evening so no hard sell but i hope to convince you that helping ourselves will help our sport.

Isnt it a fact that friday, saturday, sunday dinner, are beer drinking/socialising days, whether your scottish or not,the problem with robot socials are,it clashes with this concept-unless you arrange the social on your door step, you wont be supping, but folk should still make the effort, even if its to show thier face every 2 or 3 months, right!

Seeing that the FRA has chosen to delete my post i will try it on hear.
Dear roboteers
It is with great regret i am announcing my withdrawal from Area rep for Scotland
My belief in joining the FRA was to make a difference for you the UK roboteers and to try and help develop our sport so that with the demise of Rw the community would not disappear. I have over the last 3 months been both verbally threatened and threats of legal action were soon to follow. I find this in light of the claims of the FRA being sued to be double standards as no action was taken against this company
I would like to point out that this only started after raising concerns as to both the decisions the FRA were making and in my opinion were not getting the best deal for you.
My original idea was to purchase the RW arena for the community and for the FRA to instruct the UK Event organisers as to its use.
The community would have been able to hold the BIG EVENT annually and to shape the future of your sport without the constraints of TV production Companies goals.
Within discussions in the FRA it was decided to go with the plan from Phantom Events a new comer to our group.
Alternative proposal were put forward by BTP which i had been asked to help develop but at the last minute the withdrawal of robo dome as the arena to be used forced the alternative plan into obscurity.
The current dispute within the FRA is in my opinion is both without merit and have stated publicity that i believe that this was the wrong course of action. I will defend both directors of BTP for their ability to state their opinion even if i dont always agree with it as I would yours.
Today i relayed my fears that the FRA instead of helping promote was making potentially libels claims against FRA members and asked that the posts be removed from the forum also and informed the voting committee that i would take legal action against them if they did not remove this.
It may not be clear but i was never asked about this course of action and never voted for it This seams to be the way the FRA is being run and if my opinion is not being asked for then i see no point in being a representative as if in future your opinion will be ignored.
After conversations tonight i have now withdrew the legal action but still believe the decision was wrong and withdrew it only to save the FRA from more embarrassment.
For the future i am at present building a class one arena with the help of Robot Crusade and intend to develop this resource for your use and hope that i can count on your support in the future, as to the future of the FRA i have no idea and would not be informed anyway.
There may well follow claims of my financial envelopment with BTP but as of this date i have no more or less financial sway with the decisions of BTP than you. The arena will be made available for hire to the hole community after the its first outing at RAF Cosford.
On a personal note in all the dealings with BTP I have always found them to be trying to help promote the roboteers Rights and help further our sport. I find the comments made by others as to their goals totally untrue and out of context
I hope this will be the last comment i need to make concerning the FRA but somehow doubt it.
I wish the new rep the best of luck in the future and hope he can better represent your opinions

You can ignore what he says, or you can see that theres someone who really does care trying to get a message across on the communities behalf.
If you dont car enough to take note thats you prerogative, but it doesnt mean every one else feels the same.
The FRA have made it quite clear theyre going to censure anything they dont like on this forum.. Id find that quite worrying if I were you.

I think most of us care Sam otherwise whats the point in all this . We may as well pack it all in and go our seperate ways. I have tried to ignore all of this and let the BTP and FRA get on with it But it will split the comunity and none of us what that. I have made some good friends over the 4 yrs i have been involved including you Sam and have no axe to grind but the point have tried to make is there is no need to post what John said in multiple threads all it will do is wind ppl up

Lee and stu i posted this in the correct place for the comment but it was removed by the FRA.
i re posted it in this section and it was removed By the FRA. So i looked about for some other section to post important information on and selected the areas you have looked at. My apologies for the multiy posts but it appears that FRA cant let my post of my resignation and the reasons for them be.

John:
Just posted a John why leave multiple messages? post on some other thread where you had posted it.
But just came across this and can see you and Sam, (understandably) are really upset.
So I can see John why you feel so strong.
I can only say (and I THINK I am speaking for MOST bog standard roboteers and forum users) that I really dont know who is right and who is wrong!
I have met you and Sam and you are both great guys who do loads loads for the roboteering community.
Also I suppose I have met most of the Guys on the FRA who have done just as much (although when reading the posts it is impossible to know (unless you are in the know) who is making which post.
The name FRA Committee or The FRA make me wonder which actual person is making the post!
It would be nice if an actual name of a human being could be used ....I know I will now get responses like Due to legal reasons and Elected Body etc but I would love it if people could actually put their real name to their posts!!... like Sam and John have ...but this is prob a grey area where I am out of my depth!
I REALLY hope all this trouble can get sorted ....this is the reason I have always refused to be on the commitee of any club I have been in (and have been asked loads of times)...model aircraft clubs etc...the wimp attitude ...and I apprecitate all those who do serve on commities and admire their guts!
Hope all can still remain some sort of friends at the end of this lot.
Tom

I take from that statement that its now FRA police not to disclose private internal E mails so why use them to expel FRA members If you dont want them used or is it only the select few you wish to use.It seams to be OK for the FRA to use Private Emails out of context why cant i?
Tom again i can only apologies for the multiy posts

The problem is Tom we cant actually get our point of view across as the FRA is censoring any attempt at doing so.
Considering the fact that there are still damaging posts up about us [and by that I mean Andrew and myself] and our company, and that the FRA are claiming weve stopped them publishing emails in an attempt to stop them justifying their position [actually all weve done is stop them quoting out of context], you couldnt really blame us for being a little upset at the constant interference of the FRA in our attempts to defend ourselves and inform the community of what is going on.
Id suggest that anyone who wants the BTP slant on the past few months happenings, drop me or Andrew an email on info@blacktopproductions.com and well communicate with them directly, we intend to issue a statement explaining all of this in the very near future which will be made available on request.
Regards
Sam

I for one am very sorry to see John go as he is someone I like a lot. Thats as far as that line of statements go though as I know its a touchy subjcet at the mo.
There is a point that needs to be raised here. We now have no representative for Scotland. I would like to personally invite someone from Typhoon to apply for the job, as having the current champs on the commitee, and whats more having a pro active youth oriented organization involved can only be good for the sport.
I hope someone at Typhoon expresses an interest.

When is the FRA going to appoint a new area rep for Scotland as i have a number of complaints against the FRA that i wish to be delt with as it seems that roboteers cant have there say on this forum. Without a rep the Fra continue to ignore its members and sensor posts without any reason. The FRA is in continuing its quest to discredit certain event organisers when all that was written was positive for our sport. The fact that even there own event report was by all respects a glowing one i can only surmise that the FRA have no guts and cant admit there mistakes and continue to stick there heads in the sand.I wonder how long this post will last ie (admin Edit)

John, appointing a new rep for the North and Scotland is on the agenda for the next FRA meeting.
In the meantime, there does not need to be a rep in place for you to contact the FRA directly via email - info@fightingrobots.co.uk

Hi Pete, sorry for the short notice but I'm not going to be in Glasgow tomorrow I'm afraid. From this weekend (5th/6th) for the next two weeks I'm busy in Glasgow so only got a few days at home just now to get the robots ready for Edinburger amongst other things :(
