We are Metalskullrobotics, We build robots now for about 11 years. We mostly build raptor weights because it is a nice size to build and still are very power full. The latest robot we build is Otis it is a 6kg robot with a nice drum on the front, same way build as 720 with the t slots. It spins about at 10k rpm witch makes a very nice sound. It as a shock mounted 3,5 mm grade 5 titanium Armour ring around. Drum made of 7075 and is 64 mm in diameter. With two tool steel teeths.

last year we were visiting the gatget show to view the fw champs. This year we like to participate we are building a pusher robot right now. Next featherweight will probably a up scaled version of otis.

thank you for the compliments! I have a question about fusing the lipo battery.
I have a 4000mah 45-90c lipo. There for i need a fuse of max 360Amp.

Is it also allowed to use two fuses one for each esc? I use tz85's with simonk firmware.
If i fuse them each with say a 120Amp fuse then the total is still way under the 360amp.

Anything below the set rule max is allowed.

Most people have a master fuse, and then some have a master and then smaller ones for the ESCs.

The only issue with not having a master fuse, is that the tech checker will have to ensure the fuses will kill all draw on the battery if they both blow.
This is likely not going to be the case as your power light will probably be split off before the ESCs.

In short, if you can find one big enough, make sure you have a master fuse. 180-360a

My idea was to protect each esc separate. Had a few burned tz85's before, I will go for one big fuse from about 250amp.

You should try a pair of VESCs instead of the TZs, then you could limit the current and avoid anything blowing up! (plus you also get proper low end control) http://www.enertionboards.com/electr...or-controller/

I never used the tz85 with simonk, the times it burned was with the botbitz firmware due a faulty motor.
Today started welding the frame, it is made out of 3,2mm hardox and it's nose is made out of 6mm hardox.

A sweetass paintjob wil do far more for it than the bare Hardox.
I'm seeing something along the lines of a black body with deep purple edges and white pinstripes...

today made a first test drive. But there is a problem the shock absorber's where the gearbox is attached to are to soft.
When the wheels need power the gearbox is pushed backwards and the belt slips. I have to make a ring that will hold the gearbox in place but still make it possible to flex.

How are you keeping internal components from rubbing against the cans of the drive motors?

On the above picture the wiring is a big mess, i will do some nice cable management to prevent cables hitting the motors.
today made two bushes that will hold the drive axle in place and made a test drive. It works perfect and the motors are still able to move a little.

Frame is back from welding shop. We also rebuild one of the alu frame plates that had a little fuckup.

Yesterday made a battery tray and wired everything. The robot seems to have a little overweight issue with almost 1 kilo. Today started on a big diet, make hole's in the big bolts and make the axes that hold the wheels lighter. The last bit of weight will be milled out of the two alu frame plates of with are right now 1 kg a piece.

Looks great

Today cnc milled one of the two frame plates with some big pockets. This will save 350 gram on each block.
We also applied to fw champs yesterday hope we pass the selection.

Almost there, right now only just 80 gram over weight. We want to replace the bottem plate for lexan instead of alu.

This thing's gonna be such an awesome machine to see in battle.

Just made a HDPE bottom plate total weight is now 13,4kg.
So now we have 1,5 week to make a Bunche of spare parts.

Omega is compleet and ready for combat! Today made some spare parts and a fancy cradle to put the robot on.

What do you actually need, thus running Turnigy ESC forward and backward, I do not understand but are actually normal flight controller?

He flashed another firmware onto them. I assume he is using simonk (blheli would be possible too). Those firmwares are actually meant for 3d-flying with quadcopters.

Die deutsche Seite habe ich auch schon gefunden, die ist dann wieder gut für mich wenn ich Backups des Controllers machen möchte, schön und einfach alles in deutsch erklärt, aber wie beschrieben Bestellen bei enertionboards die sind um einiges Günstiger, beim gleichen Aufbau!

Omega did a really great job on the robochallange 2016, we knocked out in the quarter final.
We didn't have any damage on the shell, there are still some things to tweak on the drive train especially on the bearing that keep the axis in place. Right now we are already working on a new machine for next year this time with active weapon of course.

Since we now have a new bigger mill the old bf25 isn't in use any more. So we decided to convert that one to cnc. Our current cnc router works well but doesn't have a nice finish, The Z axis is also very low witch makes it only usable for cutting thin plates of alu.

The y axis is almost done right now working on the Z axis.
