I don't know why they're not in John's possession yet, but I'd hope that happens some day as he now has the legal right to use the likeness of the house robots, as the license was bought from Robot Wars LLC. There was a picture circulated recently, dating from just the last few years of all the house robots in good health on shelves in storage. There were multiples of a few robots, Matilda and Dead Metal specifically I believe. I have no idea how much it would cost to get the original house robots up to modern combat standards or if it would even be possible. It would be nice to see though, even if it was just for the retro fights.
Where the House Robots are isn't relevant.
The old House Robots wouldn't survive full combat featherweights nowadays. They are under powered and breaking. They'd need a substantial rebuild if they came back anyway. It's more in Jonno's interests to start over and make a more powerful replica than finding the originals.

I love this notion that older heavies or house bots would somehow get beaten up by modern day FWs (maybe a bit exaggerated but mostly to point).
Yes modern FW spinners are vicious, but that's when they're against machines that weigh the same as them. When a vertical spinner hits an opponent, it goes upwards. When a horizontal hits an opponent they fly off in opposing directions.
If a vertical FW spinner hits a heavyweight or old house robot, the HW might be lifted up a bit, but not by much. Due to the sheer weight difference, the majority of the force would go back through the feather's robot/weapon system, causing more damage to itself (bent shaft being a strong possibility). Similarly with a horizontal, the opposing HW or house bot isn't going to go anywhere, the feather is just going to keep pinging off it until something gives. The most the HWs will receive will be a few cuts and bruises before it's game over for the FWs, and that's without factoring in the HWs ramming the feathers into the walls.
We have damn good featherweights in this country, but let's not get carried away.
Surely its obvious the lads dislexic before you put those types of comments up? To answer your question James they'll be in a storage warehouse somewhere and probably be owned by one of the current event organisers or one of the big heavyweight teams.
For the record, I said the house robots not the competitors. The original four house robots are glorified kids ride-ons.
You said house robots, Alex said competitors. Assuming the original four house robots were running, and in the state they were in come the end of filming, they still wouldn't be overly troubled by FW spinners, give or take some cuts or gouges.

Knowing how big company's like the BBC work, i'd put money on the fact that the old house robots have been chucked in a skip by now, After being disassembled.

The picture surfaced recently, but I don't recall seeing any timestamp on it, so the picture itself could be several years old. Everything looked a bit too clean or intact for things that haven't been used in over ten years.
I'm with Dave on this one, not holding my breath, especially after years of the question getting asked over and over again. At the end of the day, what were beloved icons of a historic TV show to us were just stage props to the production company/TV folk.

Chances are no one from Five will know, so I doubt you'll get an answer from them. The actual making of the show would be done by a production company with the footage then given to Five to air.
Mentorn produced Robot Wars, so they would have been the owners of the House Robots. As for shove it was still being used during the qualifying rounds as a clear up Bot. It was built by students for Derek Fox.
They might have belonged to the BBC Visual Effects department - which would be aa dead end as that ended a year later.

This series was produced for us by Mentorn Productions and we do not have any information on what happened to the house robots after it was broadcast on Channel 5. Contact details for this production company are available on their official website but please bear in mind that the programme was last produced in 2003/2004 so it is possible they may no longer have any information.

I still dont get your logic in looking down obvious channels which given the time scale - how you dont think these have been investigated before?
its been over 10 years, if Menton knew any information we didnt know - we would have found out in the various other emails they have been sent throughout the years.
