Your Favourite Arena Weapons!

Hello Everyone

Now, its probably reached most peoples ears that we are designing an new beetleweight arena. The design is pretty much there but I am looking forwards to what happens when we want to fit the arena with some weapons.

Simply vote for what you would want in the arena is you were fighting. Ignore practicality and cost for now as everything is possible if given enough time. If you all want something expensive then maybe its worth the money to give you all something you will enjoy fighting around.

You can choose as many as you like.

EDIT: So everyone knows these are all weapons that can be mounted under the arena. I haven't included things like the US hammers and Corkscrews or the UK side angle-grinders as they have to be side mounted and that is not something we want to do.

i cant vote for some reason, but i like killsaws, a floor flipper would be cool too.

Ive only ever watch AWS, but i always find it unfair and abit lucky when spinners rebound over the wall.

For the application of allowing Rambots to win, a pit is enough i think. Removes the luck to an extent and provides skill.

Btw, the hazards in the arena. Are they meant to be dangerous or can also be just atmospheric?

Just thinking because i think a flame pit is more hassle than its worth, and really just atmospheric. However something like a Bunsen Burner would be really cool and effective.

Well at the moment it looks like I will defiantly need a Pit, then its a dead heat across the Flipper, Killsaws and Flame Pit for second place.

Unfortunately for you Jarvis, the Kill Saws are one of the easiest weapons to implement and I really like them so watch out ;)

I think some kind of underside wheel covers are in order.

Even though I'm not allowed to vote, I would love to see either a full sized flipper or a ramrod (almost the same tbh)
Killsaws would be brutal to have as well. Pit is a no-brainer offcourse.

For a pit, perhaps not just a hole; RW/RC style which drops down after a button is pressed or after say 2 minutes would be cool. Just a square drop in the floor is kinda boring. Kill-saws definitely sound fun, could be simple to build and maintain.

The ram-rod thing could also be neat.

Bottom is sandpaper I think?

Its a pit and a spinner in one with sandpaper on the bottom. Cool idea but a total pain to build.

It will be a full pit that can be raised and lowered. The idea was it to be 300mm square and capable of being up to 200mm deep. Yes, its a proper pit with no way out! That said It could be set to anything we wanted at an event so machines with big wheels could still drive through it if it was low enough.

it seems no one likes the spike or the hell raisers... unexpected but not that surprising.

i liked the spikes, hellraisers just got in the way and didn't do much

As far as the anglegrinder goes, ever considered mounting it under the arena under a small grill? To shoot sparks upwards like a flamepit without too much fuss. Just a spring pushing some metal to a small grinder blade powered by a 550 motor or something along that line.

If they are under the arena then they are just like the Kill Saws. They never did much on robot wars and I personally think they got in the way a lot of the time. Basically, not a fan of them.

Talking of fans, I had wondered about getting one of the EDF jets used on the Gadget Shows Jetbike and using that like a flipper. A jet of air blasting out of the arena to turn robots over, just like on the Japanese Rooftops in the 2 PC games.

That pit spinner looks pretty awesome. Just a floor spinner would be cool to see at a live event.

Also the Floor Flipper needs more love.
