Voltages are good, RPM isn't stupid but still would need a bit of gearing
Looks possible???
Edit: I should really stop typing so quickly so I don't spell titles wrong -_-

I have seen these before but am a tad suspicious of it being such low rpm at nominal voltage, and a true stall amperage of 20a is very low. Get the feeling it might be a bit powerless. Hopefully someone has already experimented and they're actually viable...
The torpedo 850 look pretty good but I have got to wonder if these could work, be good to know if anyone has tried them out
John Lear tried them. Gutless is a good description.
Well, there goes that idea hahaha
What seems to be the next best to the S900?
There are speed 700 sized motors with powerlevels of the real 900's, common in the RC cars, but those need a 2 stage gearing, what results in complex setups, and a higher cost.
In the end, you're back to frankensteining drill gearboxes and such.
I myself am betting on brushless.
No hope for the torpedo 850's?
Nope and neither for the Graupner speed 720 . Those are paraplegic.
I share that view, given a bit of work brushless seems like it would be all round a better idea than brushed, especially given the state of play with Speed 900s being discontinued and such.
Not to mention the power on paper seems to be much greater for brushless...
There seems a problem with the esc's though, finding stuff that can switch at the rate we need but god knows what would make a good brushless esc for drive
Well, there are ones out there - I guess it's just trial and error until you find the optimum one but there's a few potential solutions out there, I'll see if I can find some links when I get back home...
Or, someone sell me some S900's?! :D

I found these on ebay, just not sure whether they are known yet.
Their overal size sounds like a s900.
edit: the amps seem too low....
I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone who'll sell you them now, they're slowly earning their weight in gold...
Those motors too, they seem like they might be motors within a case, with a gearbox pre-attached - amps seem rather low too like you said, it's a shame though...
I don't think there's much out there that'll match the S900 and isn't brushless to be honest with you, I think the entire sport will have to move on to brushless eventually (the traditional high power drives are being discontinued in favour of more power dense brushless) so the sooner the better really.
HardWired II's going to run on it, so I'll see how it gets on with that in there!
