I think that the new design makes a nice change to the forum/website.
EDIT: I think it'll take awhile to get used to the fact that the last post is at the top of page 1.
Yeah, the first posts at the top made me a little confused, and will take some time. Though, I do like how smooth and slick it looks, but I can't seem to find how to change my avatar, though it's not a top priority.
You can change that in your profile settings - go to 'settings' at the top and then 'general settings' on the left.
It is looking very smooth now, it's a lot nicer looking than the old theme (which seemed to be basically 'red') and although as with everything it'll take getting used to I think it'll work out nicely in the long run.
I've changed the defaults so it should be a bit more normal now!
You can upload a custom avatar. Click Settings in the bar above then Edit Avatar on the left.
I think it looks great Kane :)
What does it mean when there is the red frame thing around the author of a topic?
I believe that is for popular topics
I hate it. I normally view view this forum from my phone so this 'upgrade' has just taken away the last post column.
Anything you can do, Kane?
What phone/ browser are you using? Are you viewing the mobile site or the full site (link at the bottom of the page on the mobile view)
Yeah, found it. Hope that doesn't reset every visit.
I really don't like the look or feel of it all, it's worse on the mobile version as there is no date/time to any post
There is no need to use the mobile version of the site. That is provided for users with older mobile browsers or slow connections.
How do I completely turn off avatars? I turned off avatars. They aren't displayed in the threads but are displayed on the index page. Thanks.
Do you mean the section under Forum Posts under Upcoming Events?
I like it. The About link in the footer doesn't seem to work though.
I'm just tidying up those bits right this moment.
I don't like it, but then I don't like any changes.
Everything seems to work though, nice work.
Would it be possible to make it more obvious which are the new posts in a particular thread- at the moment it is unclear as the little icon in the top left just turns from white to pale blue which is hard to see.
Could you also make it so we can see people's list of robots and there name rather than just their username.
It also seems that I have to view a post twice in order to make the unread post gear symbol thing disappear, does anyone else have this problem?
I also don't like the red frame popular topics thing but it doesn't really matter.
Other than that it all looks good!
Also how to you get a moving avatar?
I think it looks great but it is incredibly hard to navigate whereas the old design was simpler but didnt look as great.
Will definitely take some getting used to as I was quite keen on the old style, but as with any changes I'll become accustomed to it soon enough :)
The older you get the more you want things to stay the same. This website however seems to be the exception
Ummm one major issue. Why isn't my face on the banner?
Because we wouldn't want members of the roboteering community having heart attacks every time they visited the forum
(P.S. One downside, the new emoticons are pish)
What emoticons would you like?
To be honest, all the standard ones are there. Smiley face, big smiley face, winky face, sunglasses face etc.
They just don't look as good as the ones on the previous forum. Not a major issue, just me being picky :P
Although I can only seem to add them to my replies by using the characters such as colon and close-bracket. Clicking on the pictures of the emoticons below the text box where I type my reply only adds them to the title section above the text box, so I'm not sure what the 'shortcuts' are to add, say, the lightbulb emoticon to my posts. On the previous forum, if you clicked on the picture of the emoticon, it would automatically add it to the text box at the point where the cursor was. Is it possible to activate that on this type of forum?
Probably realy good but I hate change can't get profile pic even though it is small and fits the limmits, I could do with out the stress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorted your avatar for you craig. If you had another picture in mind just email it over to me.
You are a star many thanks did I do something dumb? also I like to read the threads the new post at the top how do I change this?
Many thanks you are a star, did I do something Dumb. also I like to have the threads so the new post is at the top how do I change this
Click here then change the Thread Display Mode to whatever you like.
Ahh, I didn't have the WYSIWYG setting activated. Hello old style emoticons  :proud:
Thanks Kane!
I have noticed that the links to the rules etc do not work.
You star
p.s liking the new site look.
Like the new look, much less strain on the eyes, but with all things new (even if they're better) it takes time to learn. Thanks for your hard work Kane.
One disappointment for me though is that I used to navigate solely by the 'View Active Topics button to see what was new, and then click the 'First Unread Post' button on said topic so that I made sure I didn't miss anything. (Did anyone else work like this?)
You can't do that anymore, What's New? gives you every new post, in post order. Perhaps it would be neater to list topics that have been posted in? Like the old system?
Thanks.
Also could you put the navigation links to go back to the section you are in or back to the main page at the bottom of each page so you don't have to scroll up every time?
I also don't see the point in the things at the bottom if the page (thread information, tags, posting permissions) but again it doesn't really matter if they are there or not.
