Re: Battery charger problems
what battery charger is it, with what batteries?
Re: Battery charger problems
I'm sure from memory a 12v sla goes up to 13.8 or 14.8v when charging so your 26.2 not finished was fine, Google it.
Re: Battery charger problems
Using this charger http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/phpbb3/ ... &mode=view Think I bought it off you a while ago Terry....
They are 12v sla's from pure drive... Any thoughts?
Re: Battery charger problems
how long had you left them charging? What size batteries are they?

They were only slightly discharged when we started, I just wanted to check the charger worked.... I left them about 5 mins.
Re: Battery charger problems
Wow I remember that, sold it ages ago when I went to nicd I'm sure it is 5amps but will go down and slow charge so it will take a long time, I used to measure the charge amps and used to go down to around 1/2amp after a while. What is the ampage capacity of the sla's ?
Re: Battery charger problems
Give it an hour or so, see if the charger switchs to float.
Re: Battery charger problems
Okay, if we leave it an hour or so is there any risk of damaging the batteries?
Re: Battery charger problems
Stick an ampmeter between the battery and charger whilst charging its propably less than 0.5 amps then let us know, I'm sure its so low and not sufficient to damage.
Re: Battery charger problems
I'll try that and get back to you :) Thanks
Re: Battery charger problems
Just wanted to check this before I did it (I'm a noob and I've been scarred by 4QDs exploding randomly in my face before). The charger attaches to the battery by an Anderson connector, should I disconnect the Anderson, join one side with a wire, then the other side with the multimeter? Just thought I'd best be sure before I ruin everything...
Re: Battery charger problems
Yep, if I can understand what you meant, the ampmeter will go in line with the positive or negative wire, you could just pop one of the metal clips our of 1 Anderson so there is 2ends left, then put the 2 ampmeter wires to them.
Re: Battery charger problems
Like this: Battery on the left, charger anderson on right.
