Ceros V2.0 for sale *heavyweight*

Its been a long time since I have been on here I am amazed I remembered the password.

Right I have finally come to the decision that our robot Ceros has to go its been sitting in the workshop for a number of years now and all that have worked on it have since moved on at it really seems a shame for it to just be sitting there and not doing anything when it could be in the arena giving someone some enjoyment.

brief history:

We competed in the 7th series with our original machine Ceros and after this we decided as most teams do to either upgrade or rebuild, so we upgraded only to find out they were not doing another series and at the time did not really know about the FRA so we built this machine and really just used it for a bit of fun chucking heavy objects about and driving it around but as far as the machine goes it has never completed and the components in it have never really been stressed in a combat environment.

So the robot itself has just been sat for a while but in a dry enviroment garage and just not really used.

Specs:

Chassis is fully welded Dural water cut 10mm plate.
Throwing arm is 5mm ti plate sandwiched with 6mm aluminium with 30mm supports throughout the robot and pivots on a 30mm axle going through the whole robot.

The robot runs 2 Perm motors through a 2:1 mod2 pinion gearbox to a chain drive which if I remember correctly is 20:1 and for recollection it was not a slow machine nor was it bad at pushing!

The robot does have some claim to fame, as it has the very first Roboteq controller to be used in a robot over here, we contacted cosma at roboteq in the early days of the company and got the very first pre production ax2550 unit which can be seen because it is not anodised at all its just the aluminium enclosure but it was a fantastic controller.

We used to run it off 2 hawker batteries but this is one bit of the robot we no longer have as the batteries just died a deep discharge death I am afraid.

The weapon on this machine is awesome it runs a 125mm hydraulic ram which was converted to a high pressure pneumatic cylinder the same way we did in ceros v1.0 except that was an 80mm ram. The back of the robot has 2 x 2kg fire extinguishers which clip into place into the water cut housings and supply plenty of gas to the buffer tank below which is connected directly to the main ram with 2 x ACL 1/2 fast acting valves, there is a separate dump at the front of the ram for closing, inside the ram is a motorcycle spring to aid in getting the ram to close quicker and the straps connected to bungees act as a tether and closing mechanism as well.

The only thing the robot is really missing is the finish touches eg some kind of shell or plate armour, we were thinking of going down the carbon / kevlar route and moulding something but in the same way there is the ability to just bolt some plates and any your ready to go!, infact there is a 4mm aluminium back piece which we had rolled to fit to match the rear contours of the robot so that would be inculded as well though its never been fully fitted so would need some working out. There are also some water cut parts for the sides which just need tacking on to prevent it getting stuck on its side if flipped over.

The robot is controlled by a futaba 3vc controller which is a great TX however it is still on 72mhz so would need to be converted to 2.4ghz if thats what you are using now or equivilant but thats not a hard or expensive thing to do.

I apologise for the bad photos but I really did not want to sell this and its taken me until today to get to the garage and photograph it, I will have more time over the weekend so if there is interest I will drag it out and brush the dust off and take some more pictures of the innards!

I was the lucky buyer, is a great looking and well designed machine. i am going to fully strip it down and have a real good look. Planning to improve the co2 system for more power,introduce a plc controlled pwm valve system for maximum power and self right control to conserve gas. Finally and completely removable armour almost like a model this is probably the hardest part but no rush would like it ready for uk champs this year but could be pushing it.

Good to see it's gone to a new home, hopefully we'll see it soon. Can I just say, be extremely careful, this is one powerful machine. I'm not sure if you been to many events, but I would suggest you have a good chat with roboteers and get their advice before jumping into anything. Concentrate on getting it running and working reliably before doing anything fancy with it.

I agree with the last post on here i fought against ceros in the seventh wars and it was seriously
powerfull then so who knows what the upgrade will add to that power good luck and make sure that
weapon cant flip up by accident.
