WJ from Gravity ( just ask mike lambert)
that was an insane fight! and to nearly beat tornado too
Me. Dodging an opponent for a solid 30 seconds to get energy into typhoon 2s disc up to speed before attacking them in a specific point predeterminded before the fight during a team talk wasn't easy.
Then there was driving typhoon rover in the technogames assault course.
And if you disagree, you are wrong
bit cocky gary ;)
When you win the final series of robot wars then you can be cocky too :)
If you are going on the Top Trumps ratings then it could be me!
There were some very good ones over the series but I think they would certainly be tested by some of todays competitors.
it is impressive gary! and i would say bring 13 black but your not allowed spinners -.-
Gary you have a good point....but....out driving Storm2 completely and showing just how realible Trax was, broadsiding around the pit, actually going sideways to lure Storm 2 toward the wall, giving Storm 2 a false sense of winning and waiting to strike....only time ran out without me realising and we were robbed. and still having enough batterypower to drive out.
Skillfully driving Hells Teeth around the arena to allow Thor to hit lightning, avoiding the house robots with ease, using the arena flipper to avoid danger and shoeing just how strong the chassis was by letting the arena drop try and punish us,,,my only flaw of course was testing out how tough the tyres were and edge hog getting a lucky hit....well i shouldnt showboat should i......
that surly qualifies me for the best driver ever on the planet.
nice shane ;) also to get a robot like tornado to win a series i think Andrew Marchant was brilliant
I was pretty slick in the Extreme Destruction game, I must say. Going to nominate myself.
i thought this might happen :P everyone vote for them self haha
Gents, as lovely as it is to nominate yourselves etc, I think you missed part of my original post
So I think we can all just agree that I'm the best and leave it at that.Quote:
And if you disagree, you are wrong
Good, I'm glad we got that all sorted out
There is a little thing called Humility Gary... look it up! Winning a series of Robotwars doesn't make you a better driver than anyone else. Besides, you don't see Sam or Ian or the Tornado guys looking down at everyone.
Don't start that again... :x
this was a long while ago AND i dont want to annoy anyone by going into the series 7 final so yeah. i say Kim Davies is the best (i dont know many of the new roboteers yet
I'm fairly certain that Gary was on the wind up.... lets not fall out over anything
Yeah, ok I will bring it down a notch 8)
Graham's driving of firestorm was superb, he also had it fitted with this weird mechanical steering as apposed to the conventional one motor for each side.
Perhaps not the best but certainly good was Kevin Scott behind Stinger, that thing was crazy!
stinger was difficult to control! i couldnt drive it
Bigger brother!
Lol! Of course I wasnt being serious
Gary, can you name one other championship winning driver who managed to hit the arena wall twice during their run?
is it too late to nominate Gary?
I think the key to being a good driver is consistency. And no-one can drive their robot consistently straight down the pit as well as my dad, so I'm nominating him.
I remember Barnsley 2010 very well. He spent about the first minute of a fight just spinning in haphazard circles, then with great skill he managed to drive the robot in a perfectly straight line right across the arena and into the pit.
No contest.
I would take a wild stab in the dark and guess that every other winner hit the arena sidewall more than I did. The difference being that when I did it, people took note
I say Ian Lewis from Razer - Spinner's can just point in the general direction to get a hit - and Razer won the most too. A RW UK winner, double world champion and then survived to win the gigabot rumble over in the US with loads of robots int he arena for 10 mins.
Grant your a bloody good driver...I recon you should get the title of the best driver ever. :)
I know I'm the best driver - but as I won (well joint won) the best FW driver award I didn't feel like I need to keep reminding everyone. I might make a DVD with all my best fights in so that people can learn from my awe inspiring skill :)
That's if he ever has a robot
Also i say a mention to Hender Blewitt: the driver of Roadblock/ Beast of Bodmin! getting beast of bodmin that far is so impressive
I win the best driver using other people's robot's Gary - That in itself should prove it. When I finally get round to re-making PloughBot's gearboxes or building my new robot then your all in trouble :)
Talk out ya ass Grant. Look at it this way...I have been driving robots for over 10 years at various events all over the place...I went through my period of winning with Envy and was winning that much it actually bored me because I was that good. Now, I won that much I lost that winning feeling and it actually put me off winning everything all of the time. So I let others win for a change. I felt like i was on a pedestal for winning everything all the time I actually felt like people thought my head was up my own ass. Comes with winning everything tho.
So now lets put this to rest and everyone bow down and agree I am the best cos it is all about me and i AM the best driver.
Ok gents, only one way to solve this one. A competition at the next feather champs. Me, shane, grant and jamie's dad in the arena
I'm happy to do so - i'll even use carcinus and win :)
First one in the pit wins?
I am in. Honestly I dont know why I bother tho. sigh I will just have to show you bums who really is Da Man. I will need a robot to drive tho as I am not sure if our new one will be ready in time. If No-one will lend me their feather then i will just have to use an RC Killalot and win.
I think Weston deserves a mention. When Satanix is performing well and Dave's in the zone, you're pretty much stuffed.
Difference is Dave didn't mention himself!
This thread was just getting funny when it died.... come on guys...
anyhow, tbh, everyone here is wrong... to be the best you have to of beaten the rest surely? Only people who have won a uk championships should even be considered as the best... AKA me... not Gary... he's much to scottish to be considered the best.
I've got a trophy for best driver from Alan gribble from when i was like 14...10 years of improvement since then.
You got any footage of the figth that won you the first championships outside RW mouldy?
