every robot needs a speed controller of some sort
they plug into the receiver.
they switch the voltage on and off really quickly to controlling speed.
when your transmitter stick is fully up and I is going as fast as it can it is allowing the full amounts of voltage to your motors.
I might be wrong with that but in brief they take current from the batteriesand control it through the motors.
I can explain better at home but I'm out in Bolton.
If you are using modified servos for drive then you don't need a speed controller, they just plug straight in to the receiver, in an antweight you only need them if you have drive motors and gearboxes. You also need one on a brushless motor if you've got one on your weapon
Thanks!
where can i get a speed controller from?

there
My thread has all the basics for building a antweight, feel free to messge me any quetsions and I will e happy to help :)
Ok, Thanks
same here feel free to ask me anything, you can add me on msn if you have it.
If you buy some motors do you have to put the wires in place or are they already setup to use and plug into the speed controller?
they will require wires soldered to them
edit, by some motors i asume you mean the polu micro metal gearmotors?
i don't have any particular motors in mind. do you recommend those motors?
every one uses em, they are pretty darn good. cheap too.
where can you get them from?
you can get the 50:1 HP motors from robot bits, those are the best ones tbh. you can get others from technobots, or the really cheap ebay copys, which burn out easyer and a bit weaker
ok, thanks
http://www.robotshop.com/eu/pololu-50-t ... n=GoogleUK
that's one website
i think something more uk based is a better idea
someone should had said before I ordered banebots:rofl:
i've found a website that sells those motors
If you want to order from the UK try:
http://robotbits.co.uk/motors-gearboxes/cat_2.html
If you want cheaper try:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Hercolor/_i.ht ... =283674214
there are high and low power ones from robobitz.
depends how much you are willing to spend on the esc
I'm going to get the motors (at some point) from robot bits.
Once i get all the components i will put a new topic in the build diary section on progress of my new antweight.
